Great sweets place if you need a sugar rush but just note the expensive price tag. This store is probably the only dedicated store in tobermory for fudge, chocolate and other sugary treats. They have a large variety of fudges and other sweets. Definitely on the pricier end of things but it is the only one in town selling these kind of items. We got the ice cream here. It's very busy during tourist season and have about 3 ppl working just for ice cream to move the line along. The 'single scoop' is actually really big and you can get 2 flavors from it (very confusing since 'single' means one but hey, get to try 2 flavors and it's pretty big!) The flavors were quite good. We got the st Jacobs Apple pie which has chunks of Apple pie in the vanilla ice cream. The Apple and cinnamon flavor really compliments the vanilla ice cream. The chocolate peanut butter was very rich and decadent. The two flavors also complement each other really well. Service was good - pretty quick and efficient. Visited this spot during my time in Tobermory as it was super hot and I was craving ice cream. They offer a wide section of sweets and a large variety of ice cream flavours. I got the strawberries & cream (2/5) and the NSA chocolate coffee (4/5). The strawberries & cream was a bit artificial and too sweet for me but still had a creamy texture while the NSA chocolate coffee had a strong flavour. There isn't too much of a difference between the scoop sizes (kids/single) kids is just slightly smaller but you can barely even tell so just go with kids size and save yourself $1. The prices are quite high as it is in a touristy area and 3 cones (2 singles & 1 kid + 3 waffle cones) were about $22. Needed some ice cream after taking a nice stroll on the Bruce Trail, so we sought a place that sold desserts. We found the Sweet Shop because it was big and we saw customers coming in and out. There were a heck of a lotta flavours to choose from, so I just went for the butterscotch scoop on a cone. It satiated my need for something sweet. Compared to other dessert stores, it definitely felt more marked-up in price. Along with the ice cream, there were other desserts and souvenirs to commemorate your visit to Tobermory. So while this place is definitely a tourist hub, it's not the worst one to go to. Having said that, if you take a look around for cheaper ice cream, you can probably find a better place. read more

There are a lot of places offering ice cream in Tobermory and I wouldn't say this one is the 1st you'll see, but if you walk around a bit before deciding, you'll likely come here. Why? Cause it looks big, the name makes you feel like you should and it'll be good. You walk in, lots of sweets including many options for ice cream. They have a lot of people serving ice cream, more people asking than you have time to decide. The chocolate and coffee were good, but the prices are crazy. My husband and I each bought one of the individual chocolates from the display at the counter. The prices weren't marked but I assumed each piece would be maybe $1-2. We were shocked when our total for two coffees and two small chocolates came to $18. I paid almost $5 for literally one bite of chocolate. I would never come in here with a child because you will either leave broke or with a very disappointed kid. We came here a few times and one of the girls bought a few surprise goodie bags. It was the perfect ice cream spot. I tried the "Bruce Trail Mix" ice cream ($2.49 kids size). The prices were marked up, but I loved the novelty of the store. They had a decent selection of bulk candies, imported goods, homemade chocolates, slices of fudge, salt water taffy, jellybeans and other hard candies. They have the most amazing ice cream. It has the perfect texture, very smooth and creamy. There are lots of interesting flavors to choose from. I've had French Vanilla which is a little too sweet for my taste. I highly recommend Chiquito Banana, it is delicious! The serving is very generous, a single scoop is equivalent to a double scoop. On the other hand, the yogo fruit had a very weird taste. It was extremely sour and I picked strawberry flavor which could have made it even worse. It was so bad that I could not take any more bites. We came in here for some ice cream after dinner and it was the first time we had ice cream from the London Ice Cream company - they are SO much better than Kawartha - I actually have no idea what the hype with Kawartha is. We had the smores ice cream and this was honestly the best thing I've ever had in my life. Love this place. Been here more than 14 times the past 11 annual visits. Staffs are polite, the servings are huge and prices are reasonable. Black Cherry win my heart every time! So glad to see they are still there after all these years. The staff really need to be trained alittle more on customer service. There was 4 of us in my party who got in line for ice cream and we had to order 1 item at a time. The girl who started to help us made our one ice cream and then when she came back I started to ask for the next ice cream she said just wait one minute I have to get this shake off for someone else, then she disappeared and came back a few minutes later to sweep the floor, after I had to ask someone else to help us, it took 15 mins from first ordering to the last one of us to get our single ice cream cones. Great little store on a hot sunny day. It was especially enjoyable after taking the cruise to Flower pot island. I always order peanut butter and chocolate ice cream. Baskin Robins, Sweet Shop, anywhere. The portion was nice and big and staff was friendly. They also had other sweets around the store (fudge, chocolates, cookies, etc.), as well as gifts/souvenirs for friends. But they seemed a bit pricy. Selection is adequate; however, treats are overpriced and service is not very friendly. Unsmiling cashier tried to charge me for my daughter's slushy after my daughter accidentally dropped it on the floor. Despite her tears, no replacement was offered to my daughter. Is it overpriced.... yes.. Is it tiny... yes.. But it's cute... and I always buy a little something every time I go to Tobermory. Bought a bag of chocolate covered cherries. They were delicious. Tobermory is tiny.... so I think the size of the store matches the town. and it's not something easy to get to, so I understand the high prices... it's a tourist spot, one should expect tourist prices. If you are in Tobermory visiting... take the 10 minutes and visit it. Considering the amount of signs you'll see for The Sweet Shop driving up Highway 6, I'm surprised there's no review for this place! This little sweet shop is just as it sounds, selling made-in-store sweets ranging from taffy, brittle, and fudge. They also have ice cream and even brewed goodness in coffee and teas. As you'd expect the place is charming, and smells great. Our ice cream was served with a generous scoop (by Toronto standards, I guess!) The staff is friendly, and the store is kept in a neat, tidy order. There's plenty here to take back home for presents after you've said goodbye to Tobermory. Prices, while not exactly dirt cheap, are pretty reasonable given the touristy nature of the small town and the fact that the majority of items sold have been made on site. The Sweet Shop is definitely the first thing I think about when returning to Tobermory. read more

This is a pretty big store with almost any candy you can think of, but not worth the pricing once you look at something. Decided to come in and take a look as they had a slew of signs advertising them on the way up to Tobermory. They call themselves the 'best' sweet shop, but it may just be that they are the best as they are the only one in the area. They had all sorts of candies and sweets from different brands of candies to homemade treats. Chocolate, fudge, and even some vintage/unique brands, they had it in stock. It was quite a delight to see some old candies that you haven't seem in years. They also had a ice cream parlor inside, even with the option for sundaes and splits. This seemed to the one stop shop for anything your sweet tooth wanted, but the prices seemed a bit steep in my opinion. If you are craving for something and just have to get it, this will probably be the only place you'll find it here in Tobermory. If you can hold off though, I'd advise it as it would save you some dough. read more

Top notch service. Special mention to the staff working on June 17- I left my IPhone XS near the outdoor seating area and they managed to locate it and kept it safe. We ordered a single scoop classic chocolate on a cone and it was soo good. The taste was reminiscent of old school chocolate ice pops, but creamier. I really don't understand all the complaints here. The ice cream shop serves LONDON ice cream. Never heard of it? Neither had I. But it's the best tasting ice cream I have ever had (better than Reid's dairy, Kawartha's, Haagen Daas, etc.). Prices per scoop and cone are very reasonable ($3 and up) and even the single scoop is more than enough ice cream for 1. The staff are very friendly and despite this being a tourist trap, as most would call it, the prices are quite good. Many other places charge easily double for much less. read more

This is a candy shop that we were sucked into by our kids. Wall to wall candy and stuffed toys. They also have an ice cream counter where most everyone lines up at instead of actually buying candy. They have some really cool stuff such as a powered candy dispenser where you select various sized tubes to fill with whichever flavor you like. read more
