The bar manager was incredibly attentive and helpful and we were made to feel like VIPs the whole time. We got balloons and some free bottles of fizz and our very own cordoned off area, and priority at the bar - it was fab. We pre-ordered our food and everyone was happy with their meals - I had the smoked haddock fishcakes and they were tasty : ) So, in conclusion, a right fun night that didn't break the bank. A friend and I had an experience recently where the food came out and it wasn't the right order, and also we got refused alcohol because I was apparently "underage". Where in their right mind would I ever look 18 or under? I'll never know. Anyway, I then complained to the bar woman who's seen me in there before, and as a consequence I got my alcohol (yay!) and as it was my friend's birthday, they also gave us a free bottle of champagne. It's a friendly pub, with alcoves and areas where you can gather a group of friends to talk and enjoy good beers and ales. The food is good, standard pub fare, served with a smile and a reasonable bill at the end. I've been here on my own, with family and as prt of a staff celebration with 30 odd people (very odd, some of them!) and the staff cope well.

As a student in Manchester, however, you cannot fail to have heard about the Didsbury Dozen - a pub crawl targeting 12 of Didsbury's watering holes. I personally never did the dozen, but I knew several people who did. There are several pubs that welcome the pub crawlers with open arms, several that would probably rather they weren't there but couldn't afford to kick them out, and a couple who are totally against the concept and will not allow pub crawlers onto their premises. Fletcher Moss is an example of the latter, and I had heard stories about the nasty spoil-sport of a manager at this pub. However, five years on, and I am much older and wiser. I appreciate good beer and music that will not drown out your conversation. On setting foot in the Fletcher Moss I was not at all surprised that the management had refused to serve pub crawlers. It is a quiet CAMRA pub with no loud music and no football. Some would class this as a boring pub, but the older I'm getting the more I find myself enjoying visits to places like this.

Put it this way, on a Saturday night - the main pub actually seems to become a dance floor playing all the classics of soul while middle/later age peeps put on their glad rags and dance around living the dream like John Travolta in Saturday night fever. And why not... What's weird is that everyone is still just sat around drinking their pints of Hydes casually while the queue for the bar merges with the 'dance floor' - put it this way, one bump out of the queue and you could find yourself doing the waltz with a mid 50's blonde in a matter of moments. Beer is fairly average Hydes stuff (Summer Ale was best of a bad bunch) - but for entertainment value and a sense of WTF - this was a cool night out.

I am a local resident of Gee Cross and have been drinking in this pub as a regular for the last few…read moreyears. It used to be a lovely, well run pub with nice clientele. However, over the last six months or so there has been a massive change, with a lot of local residents choosing to avoid this establishment. The landlord is more concerned with profits, than the well being of local residents and customers, maybe he should stick to barbering than running a pub. He lets in a lot of customers who are barred from other local pubs in the village, unconcerned about the trouble they may cause. He also turns a blind eye to the obvious drug dealing/taking in these premises. The last few times I have been in this pub, there has been fights breaking out, with no door staff on to intervene. Only this Friday as one fight erupted at the rear, other fights started to break out, resulting in one person being randomly head butted and knocked out completely. The only person who seemed to do anything about it was the barman, Gregg, who stopped the fight. As a concerned resident of Gee Cross village, I will no longer be drinking in here, and will also be making complaints to licensing authorities. I would like to point out that this in no way is a review of the restaurant, which has always been superb, but this is a review of the bar.

The grapes is a very beautiful old building with a lot of original features intact like the stained glass windows and the fireplaces. The owner is Italian so hopefully it will be authentic food.This pub has tables outside and is usually packed at weekends and on warm evenings in summer. i await the grand opening.

This Victorian style, old-fashioned boozer is nestled on the high street but gives off a smokey and dingy aura. Mostly filled with locals and the hard-faced oldie stood outside smoking but the interior is that of the traditional cramped pub from that era. If passing through might be a good place for a reasonably priced local ale but parking for it since right on the one-way main high street.
