I went on several websites but received no response. I was able to email Mr Healy and get my questions answered. He seemed to care about my situation and although he doesn't practice what I'm seeking he took time to find out and answer my questions which was greatly appreciated. I can imagine he's a top notch attorney and it's unfortunate for me not being able to retain him but lucky for those who do.

Gassed out, eyes almost shut, backed into a corner by a 16-0 opponent trying to keep the fight from going to the judges. If you know the feeling, you can understand how time slows down, the room goes silent and you hear one voice yelling from your corner "Weave hook!" ...and in that moment of clarity you dig deep and blindly, weave, hook and connect. Not for the win, but just enough to finish the round still standing. That feeling of losing a match, but winning hope is hard to explain. Its a lesson you can only learn by staying in the fight and not giving up, knowing that when it comes right down to it, and you need help, you have someone in your corner to help you learn from your mistakes, train, come back and fight another day. That is what it feels like working with Michael Healy. He sees openings, strategies and angles no one else sees, and he keeps you in the fight even when you almost feel like its over. Easily one of the best attorneys to work with in Hawaii bar none.

I'm not necessarily a client of any Attorney who is based here, at least I know for future reference there are well known lawyers in town within reach. We had 2 zoom appearances in probate court that lasted all 10 min. One of them was a non event appearance, but I got billed for 3 hours of her time. She then, needed to seek guidance from her fellow colleagues because she couldn't do her job due to litigation (billed me for her so called meetings/guidance with other colleagues) Seriously, pls don't become a lawyer if you're not confident enough to represent your client. Pohai never did anything to help me with my case. Petition draftings, phone calls/emails are the most she did!!! After the second court appearance, we had an evidential hearing set. She then, emailed me, she can no longer represent me as counsel due to the scope of the case (since my brother contested the will) Basically, this is the most important part of a probate case .....& she wants out now?!? Unreal!!! I eventually had her withdraw as my representative after only two zoom court appearances and my ridiculous bill was almost $15,000 for her so called services. She did feel bad and gave me a discount of 10% thank you for that (the only good thing out of this case) Probate is one of the most difficult experiences any family will probably have to go through. If you're born and raised here in Hawaii, we all know how expensive land is ....and you'll do anything to try and save your families estate from selling. To eliminate that stress, we trust and hire professional lawyers (local lawyers, who share the same values) not Pohai, she actually told me, I'm sorry, your property will probably have to sell?!? That was the moment I knew, I needed to represent myself to save my family land. She had no heart to fight for me!!!! Seek a better lawyer elsewhere! Someone who's passionate about fighting for their client and wanting to help out local families who really don't have much and doesn't just see you as "another client" to them!

It took me a month to complete everything. When I returned the packet, the paralegal -- who was clearly unhappy every time I spoke with her -- said they would review it and get back to me. Five days later, I was asked to schedule a paid consultation for $350. I chose 9 AM on Monday. Monday came. No call. I called the office, and the same paralegal said she'd "get back to me." An hour later, she emailed saying she couldn't reach the attorney, which "must mean an emergency," and asked if I could reschedule for 4 PM. At 4 PM, the attorney finally called. He apologized and said he "forgot the time difference" because he was in another state -- so much for the emergency explanation. During the call, he assured me this wouldn't be our only conversation and that he understood $350 is a lot. Then he told me that after reading my 100‑question packet and documents, he didn't feel I had a case. He said he'd check with colleagues, but that my situation didn't rank high enough on his internal scale to be "worth his while." And that was it -- I never heard from him again. What frustrates me most is this: I assumed that if you contacted me to schedule a paid consultation, it was because you had reviewed my materials and believed you could help me. Why bother with the consult -- and charge me $350 -- if you already knew you couldn't? So essentially, I paid $350 for him to tell me he wasn't interested -- something the paralegal could have emailed me before scheduling a paid consultation. If you're considering this firm, ask where your case ranks on their 1-10 scale before agreeing to a consult. They don't take anything under an 8, but they'll let you pay to find that out.
