I have been enduring years of emotional trauma and negligence on the part of this "law firm". They have been attempting to force my employer to garnish my paycheck for an amount that isn't owed by ME. They took it as far as to go to court and have a judgement filed against "me". However, the person listed on the court documents and in the law firms cover letter is not in fact ME. They provided a full social security number to which only the first 3 numbers aligned with mine, that was the first clue into this "mystery" debacle. Each time that this has happened, I have reached out to the law firm and the collections agency in TEARS because I've never experienced this before and was understandably concerned and terrified. Firstly, the collections agency confirmed that they do NOT have any open accounts that share my name, social security number, property address and birthdate. They DO have another person with my name under the social security number I provided from the judgement but they have a different property address and birthdate. Understandably, they could NOT share that persons personal information with me but they confirmed that this is NOT for me. I shared that information with the law firm and they confirmed that they will rectify the situation and apologized. I'm sure it goes without saying but they did NOT in fact rectify anything and instead are pursuing having my paycheck garnished even AFTER I sent in documents clearly showing all of my personal information and proving that I am not in fact the same person. Just as many others in Hawaii, we live on a very tight budget due to the costs of living here in the islands. It is NOT okay that this law firm couldn't be bothered to do their due diligence to confirm that the person they're pursuing legal actions against is the CORRECT person. They are tarnishing my reputation with my employer and could cause me to be unable to pay my mortgage should my employer have no choice but to garnish my upcoming paychecks. The emotional trauma that I have been forced to endure is not only unfair but it is debilitating and humiliating. I don't know what more I can do to get this law firm to STOP harassing me and to rectify this situation. I will be seeking legal assistance and pursuing damages should this continue.
