I have asked her to help me out on a corporate issue with the labor commission and asked to post-date my retainers for a few days and she agreed, but the minute I signed my retainer, and handed her the post-dated check, that same day she cashed it. Thereafter, the difficult of getting a hold of her.... refused to talked and discuss my issue and I eventually terminated her as my attorney. Let me update my review, as I am SOMEONE who ACTUALLY RETAINED Lani to represent me, as NONE of the other 3 DID!!!! Lani settled my case (which would have been a big FAT 0) for a hefty settlement. Even if she knows your case is losing, she will not be honest and transparent -she will prolong the case with her so she can take the most of your money and even had the nerve to overcharge you. Apparently one must ramble on when providing a review, rather than simply use words descriptive of our meeting with Lani Esteban Trinidad (Thater), to not have their review deleted on Yelp. We arrived promptly, she arrived late, disheveled and unkempt in appearance. We waited while listening to her prepare herself, bathroom, hair, clothing change it seems. When finally meeting, she barely looked up, looked down at her left wrist constantly, was abrupt and appeared to not listen - or care - at all. Whether there was a case or not is moot as this would not be an example of a professional, or kind individual, that we would retain to represent us in any forum. With the few positive generic reviews read here, there is nothing that identifies why she/they are great (the results) with the exception of one from 2013. There are too many other firms that have true case examples of the results achieved. We chose poorly for these consultations, but didn't make the mistake to retain. She does not take her fiduciary responsibility seriously and we will be making a formal complaint to the bar for her handling of our case. I can only speak about my experience, Lani and her fantastic team were nothing but helpful, light hearted, compassionate and down right great to work with. I found Lani to be entertaining dealing with my case lol but that's just me. I was dealing with a difficult time, as anyone requiring a lawyer, I had no idea what a reasonable settlement would be and the other half of this dispute were terrible awful people and she made it equally difficult for them which I found entertaining because I know I don't play hard ball well. She always handled herself professionally and out of the 3 lawyers I sought counsel with, I felt the safest with her team and how confident they were with my case. One word. HORRIBLE! My husband saw the EEOC and had a very good, straight forward case and Amber Rose met with him for a $100 consultation. She kept going in circles about him having a case but needling proof of what happened and when he presented her the proof that was also given to the EEOC, she wasn't very positive. We left more confused and $100 less. We called numerous other law firms and they ALL said the same negative things about Esteban-Trinidad! Even there past clients have nothing good to say about them! We ended up hiring another lawyer from a different law firm. This lawyer also had nothing good to say about them and heard our case and has taken it on. I wouldn't mind the arrogance, if she actually knew what she was talking about. I found it unprofessional to make me wait over an hour for our consultation appointment. If she felt my case was not worthwhile, I should have been told that when I called and asked if her office handles my type of case. She kept interrupting me and repeating basic law from a text book that had no significance to the questions I was asking. The little advice she gave me on my rights later turned out to be completely WRONG, which I found out too late.
