While the studio is lovely, and I have been there in the past, it was a very cold welcome from the proprietress as she guarded her beverage cooler and plastic cups. As we continued to browse the gallery and look past the initial greeting I could see her eyeing our boys in her stone garden out front. Apparently she felt it ok to storm out and scold them for picking flowers, which they were not, leaving one to walk away in tears. Needless to say that was the end of our visit. I'm sure our friends, who love to buy from the galleries in Wellfleet, would have liked to have spent more time as well.

In addition to events they have all kinds of classes as well as yoga sessions available. This evening we went to a fascinating lecture presented by Mark Bittman and Doc Willoughby. Doc Willougby , who is also a good writer, interviewed Mark Bittman about his new book: Animal, Vegetable,Junk: A History of Food from Sustainable to Suicidal. The Truro Center sent us emails urging people to carpool since they were expecting a huge crowd snd Prior to the event, had the opportunity to speak with Susan Kai Schwartz , the Program Manager, who assured me that if I arrived thirty minutes early, I'd be able to find parking. When we arrived, the first person we met was Bruce Player, the Program Coordinator. Bruce greeted us like we were old friends, even though we had never met! He urged us to take our lawn chairs and find a good place to sit for the lecture and when I asked, don't you want to see my ticket?, Bruce assured me he'd find us but was more interested in our comfort. My wife and I were impressed with everything we experienced at the center. They served refreshments that were reasonably priced and while I had promised myself I wouldn't buy another book, Mark Bittman's talk was so stimulating and delightful, I felt we needed to read it immediately! The other wonderful aspect of the evening is that we didn't get one mosquito bite! They had a special machine that kept the mosquitoes away. The center also had beautiful restrooms inside their buildings. I strongly urge you to check out their website and make and plan to visit the Truro Center for the Arts when you are vacationing on the Cape.

We have gone to the Dina Martina Christmas show at the ACT theater in downtown Seattle twice now…read more In 2022 and 2024. Both times it was a real treat! She is simply fabulous! It's such silly fun, with her funny takes on stories, new lyrics to known songs, and her extra special way of pronouncing certain words... It's just a wonderful time during a very stressful season. Dina and her pianist (so sorry, but I can't remember his name) are very polished at what they do, and the audience responds accordingly. It's simply great fun and I can't recommend it enough!

Another client of the gallery shared with me that this same painting is now being offered by the gallery again and, on Artsy, for $5000. Begs the question if it sold at auction for $500, how is it again worth $5000 in a retail gallery? This is a slap to the artist, who this gallery has represented for years and to collectors who should have the confidence gallery owners stand by their offerings. Stay away!

The opening act was The Cold Stares and they also were great. The venue is simply a circus style tent with a fixed stage, there are some bleachers and then folding chairs. It's very simple but the sound was good. The people were friendly and the beers were cold. It's a good spot for a night of music. Just be aware that is open air so there is no air conditioning.

Cortile offers many different forms of art from oil and acrylic paintings to metalworks, sculptures , encapsulated glass works of all types as well as many other forms of art. A visit to cortile is a kaleidoscope of color explosion that can only be matched by the most beautiful sunset on the ocean in conjunction with the majesty of a sunrise on a clear day. I have purchased many different pieces of art from cortile by a myriad of different artists over the years and my wife and I have enjoyed every single piece. Our favorite artists are Gail Fields , Al Davis and Benton Jones but every artist displayed In this gallery is very talented and amazing. I must also commend Kerry Filiberto who is the gallery director. She is always very friendly and pleasant and has always been a great help when I call or email her looking to purchase a piece of art. She responds very quickly and is very informative and incredibly passionate In what she does. If I have a question about a certain piece or artist she always makes sure to give me the most in depth information thus making my decision on what to purchase so much easier and she is always upfront and honest. My first experience with Greg was during our maternity photography session done in October 2016…read more This was my first photography session ever and Greg made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He worked with me on however many versions of pictures we wanted on the different backdrops to make sure we had sufficient options. Given that this process can be anxiety inducing I appreciated his demeanor and patience. Greg was also our photographer for our baby shower. He was incredible and made an effort to grab photos of our special event and of all the guests who came from near and far (some from out of the country). This was really important to us. He also did all of this blending in so he was able to get great candids. It was also very nice that we already had a rapport so he already knew what we were looking for. Greg is incredibly skilled, approachable, and kind. I would definitely seek his services in the future and can't strongly recommend him enough.

I've been on ghost tours in several states and would never recommend this place to someone else. Very few ghost stories and absolutely no flair to be found. Jan is the scariest thing about this place and she isn't worth your money.
