Thistle Tea Rooms is another in a sea of quaint little tea rooms that seems to engulf Southport, Lord Street in particular. Unfortunately for The Thistle, its location at the far end of Lord Street near the fire station means it could sometimes lose out due to the busier, more populated part of Lord Street being in the complete opposite direction to it.
They don't seem to mind too much though, as the tea rooms is usually fairly busy with diners sitting at their tables munching their way through lovely home cooking. The place itself is quite small but cosy, meaning any conversation you have will never be too private, yet this all just adds to its charm.
Their menu is pretty basic but quite varied, offering diners hot meals like Welsh rarebit or sausage and mash as well as grill dishes such as lamb or sirloin steak, which at £6.95 is excellent value for money. The cooking there is pretty no frills but delicious all the same and for the price, you can hardly complain. read more
