The breading was incredible and it's made with chicken thighs so it's still tender. My prime rib chislic with this chipotle aïoli was very tasty, my mom's Smashburger was huge and you could tell it was made from scratch. It comes with Cherrywood ham, turkey and cheese between two slices of brioche bread perfectly browned served with warm raspberry jam as a dipping sauce. And not only do they have good beers, check out this house old-fashioned. They have an event venue upstairs, line dancing on Tuesday nights, live music, and an awesome sand volleyball complex outside. The staff was great and the vibe was unique.

Probably because after a resumed conversation at the bar, 3 times playing with a TV in an unoccupied part of the restaurant and a long conversation on her phone in plain sight of patrons, she was too busy for her job. She finally came back and asked how it all was, and I simply shrugged to which she said wasn't the burger good, I shrugged again and she says and I quote "well, you ate it all" in a sparky voice while turning and walking away. When I first sat down she asked if I'd been here before to which I said I had but before the new ownership. She says, yeah well it's a 360 degree change, better food, service etc.... I had already made my annual pilgrimage to West O the day before, and suggested something more to her liking - Wine. Since my last visit the Wine Bar and Art Gallery, the space has expanded into David Thoreson's Blue Water Studio. David actually owns the entire building and if you look behind the door in what I call the "Livingroom" addition, you'll see that his work space is alive and well. There's also an upstairs, but I have no idea what David has going on up there. As this is the 25th Anniversary of Blue Water Studios and the Wine Bar, all the art work on the walls is David Thoreson's, and what a stunning collection it is! Gayle and I hung out, enjoyed a couple glasses of wine, and wished we were here during the weekend to hear their live music offerings (played outside on the patio). Gayle and I were impressed with the wine selection, generous pours, and at a reasonable price, in addition to the comfortable space to enjoy them. And as much as I love West O, this was the right place for us to hang out and spend some time together.

Later that evening, my son pulled back the bedcovers and found a live bug in the sheets. That alone raised serious concerns about the cleanliness and sanitation of the room. The following morning, our toilet overflowed and would not flush despite minimal toilet paper use. We left for the waterpark expecting the issue would be addressed while we were gone. When we returned that evening, the toilet was still overflowing and nothing had been done. It was only then that we were informed the hotel does not provide daily housekeeping, something that was never communicated to us at check-in. Regardless, a reported plumbing issue should have been treated as a maintenance concern, not left unresolved. After calling the front desk, I was told that maintenance had gone home and that I would need to come to the lobby and pick up a plunger myself. Rather than sending assistance, the hotel expected a paying guest to resolve a plumbing issue. With two children, we were forced to repeatedly travel from the third floor to the lobby just to use a restroom until my husband spent part of the night attempting to repair the toilet himself. The following morning, I spoke with the manager, Tom, to express my concerns. His response was dismissive, and he simply suggested I email his supervisor. After speaking with the supervisor later that day, the hotel's resolution for a stay that cost nearly $500 was a $50 credit. We also alerted the front desk to a large broken glass vodka bottle lying next to our vehicle with other trash, as it posed a safety hazard and could have easily caused a flat tire. Another safety concern! A hotel's responsibility is to provide guests with a clean, safe, and functional environment. This property failed on every level. The unsanitary conditions, unresolved maintenance issues, poor customer service, and lack of accountability made this one of the most disappointing lodging experiences my family has ever had. I cannot recommend this hotel and would strongly encourage others to stay elsewhere.
