A guy came out and gave me an estimate. He was supposed to call the next day to schedule the removal. He never called, even after I called him again to prod him. I finally checked Yelp and found Santos with his good reviews. He came out quickly, gave a fair estimate, said he could do it the next day. He arrived a little late with his truck and small crew but went right to work and did the whole job in just 3 hours. I had expected a lot of chainsaw noise but they did a lot of cutting with handsaws, using the power tools mostly to cut up and grind the wood. Very impressive work and a great personality. The appointment on 9/10 comes and goes and no one shows up. After an hour of waiting-- I've made plans to work from home and be available for when this is scheduled-- I call their office to see what the delay is. I'm told that due to staffing changes, this appointment has fallen through the cracks, but they'll arrange to send someone out. No one comes and I receive no call. When I call again at the close of business, I'm told that no one with the authority to reschedule is available and they will call me the next day with a new appointment time.  This dance continues over the course of the following week, over which period I call no less than five times. Several times I am promised a return call from Chris Arader himself, which never happens. I even call at a time I am assured he will be in the office, and when I do, he is not.  What the heck? This sort of behavior, while not uncommon, is tedious and unprofessional. It's particularly frustrating in this situation given the limited season (optimally) for tree pruning. I contacted Arader based on a recommendation as I was very disappointed.

We got his detailed proposal within a couple days, and could tell he is trying to help us protect and keep trees while making sure they are not hazards. When we accepted his proposal I sent a picture of some large white pine limbs we lost that day due to the 16" wet snowfall. I had stacked the limbs in the street and without even letting us know, he sent a team to cut up and remove the debris from the street! And they even shoveled the snow away from the area. Sven was the first to respond. He offered to come out immediately after normal work hours for a free quote. He thoroughly inspected the tree and assured me that it wasn't in imminent danger of falling over. That night he sent over a quote that was substantially lower than I had feared it would. He scheduled the job for the weekend, showed up on time, and just worked solidly until the job was done. Pretty much a flawless transaction. We'll use him again for sure.

Initially, they indicated they could come out on Saturday, July 4, but the estimate was ultimately confirmed for Sunday, July 5, between 11:00 am & 12:00 p.m. I was coordinating the appointment on behalf of a loved one. Because the property owner doesn't live at the affected house, they traveled from another part of the city and rearranged their schedule specifically to meet the estimator. We also learned that the neighboring property we initially believed the tree had fallen from is vacant, making it even more important to determine responsibility and move the process forward. Unfortunately, no one arrived for the scheduled appointment, and there was no phone call, text, or Yelp message to let us know they were running late or needed to reschedule. We understand that delays and emergencies happen, but a simple courtesy message would have been appreciated. The lack of communication wasted people's time and delayed addressing a situation affecting multiple properties. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend a company that confirms an appointment and then fails to show up or communicate with the customer.
