Carolina College of Hair Design is my go-to place for an inexpensive men's haircut. But don't worry that a student is doing the work because they have had enough training at this point to know what they are doing AND there is an instructor who monitors their work and guides them when/if they need it. Then the instructor comes over at the end and checks the cut to ensure that it is done properly and that you are satisfied with it. I have left with a less than perfect haircut before, but I am never dissatisfied. You can get your hair washed/conditioned and cut for $6. I usually tip $4, which brings my total investment to $10 - still well under what you would pay at most any salon or barber, and you are supporting a good cause, helping these students learn a trade. Win, win.
