What a relief to stumble upon ShipCanada, and it's LTL service…read more We were moving from the Pacific Coast to the Atlantic, and our jaws dropped when we researched our moving options, as the least expensive was $10K. Having had some minor experience with shipping, I was wondering if anyone offered a pallet rate, as that would bring the cost down significantly. ShipCanada was like manna from Heaven, as their quote to ship all our personal possessions was just 1/5 of lowest quote offered to us from the other shippers/movers. ShipCanada arranged everything within a day of contact, and our pallets were picked up on time, with the driver giving us a half-hour notification of his arrival. It took two weeks for our pallets to be shipped from the Sunshine Coast in BC, to the Atlantic Coast on PEI. Just one of our items sustained a small amount of damage (truly unavoidable when shipping in bulk over very large distances ), but having heard a few horror stories from others about all the damage that occurred to their possessions when they hired "professional" movers at 7.5 times the price, I was extremely pleased with our outcome. I'd like to address some of the statements made by the individuals who left low reviews. - Pack everything with Sod's Law in mind. - ShipCanada isn't a shipping company with a fleet of trucks; it's a shipping broker. - If you are shipping valuable items, have them insured beforehand. - Arrival and delivery times are approximations, but from our two experiences, the pick-up and delivery times were spot on. - As a small businessman who does a great deal of shipping/receiving, I can confirm that shipping items through any carrier entails risk. The more items sent, the larger the distance, and the higher the value of the items, equates to the acceptance of a monumental level of risk, and you can comfortably assume that something will go wrong with so many variables wildly beyond your control. From my experience, I was extremely pleased that all of our pallets arrived safely after a 5700km journey, that the task was accomplished with a minimum outlay of money, and that only one cabinet sustained a small amount of damage.

When my wife (the consignee) and I went with the pickup card still in hand, staff told us the package had already been given to "someone else." Purolator's own tracing team later admitted in writing that a "valid ID was used, but not the name at the time of pickup." In other words, they knowingly released a package to an unauthorized individual. Staff on-site promised a manager would follow up within 24 hours -- no one ever contacted us. Extremely unprofessional, negligent, and a clear security failure. If you value your packages or your identity, avoid this branch at all costs.

So I took it to the UPS Store to get them to package it, thinking I would get it boxed there and then drive back to FedEx to drop it off. The team there offered to build me a custom box, though they wouldn't be able to do it until Monday (this was on a Saturday). I was leaving town Sunday, but when I told them that they said it was no problem; they offered to wrap the box and take it to the nearby FedEx shipping center in the shopping center on Monday, when I was out of town. They did so, and called me to confirm it Monday, and the package arrived with no trouble. Really appreciated them going the extra mile on what had been a very frustrating day up to that point.

They got back to me in under 15 minutes and were so informative and reasonably priced that I immediately decided to try them. I made an appointment, brought the boxes down to them and they were polite and efficient. They let me watch the shredding and gave me back the boxes I wanted.
