Having a hard time finding good braid shops for decent prices in The Valley? Say no more, Andrea to the rescue. My barber quit barbering at the last minute, right before I had to go to a wedding--my hair was definitely not looking it's best. I contacted Andrea in dire need of looking cute, and she hella delivered. She responded within hours of my request; I had an appointment the next day. Andrea went above and beyond, so much so that I am writing about it three weeks later (my hair still looks amazing). I'm gonna go ahead and update my review which was great at first buuuuuut..... I came in to get my hair done on April 10th. I wanted short, small sized, box braids with burnt ends and came out with a different look which I still liked, not the same as the picture but it was ok. I praised the braider for it a lot when I looked in the mirror it looked great and went home. I noticed two long strands longer then the rest of the braids and ignored it thinking maybe I'm overthinking it. I had a professional hair and make up freelancing job to attend. While standing under the tent promoting hair products, I had some people express how my hair is uneven on the sides and my braids are going thick to thin. I noticed more issues like: burned ends that look messy, my hair isn't tucked, hair is beginning to unravel.... I'm quite embarrassed... The next day, I hit up the braider and asked for money back and I did get it back minus tip from noticing the work almost a week later. I didn't want to go back and fix it. If you book here, do NOT BOOK WITH NYLA!!!! She has ZERO respect for her customers time! I actually hadn't heard of anything like what my husband just experienced with her, in a looong while! I want my people to BE BETTER! My husband booked with her well in advance. She texted him the day before asking him to come 30 minutes later than his original appointment time. NP. He agreed. Keep in mind, we live probably an hour from Encino, have a small baby, and run out own business. We do not have disposable time!! Every appointment we make is a sacrifice and takes planning. My husband gets to his appointment... 30 minutes later, as she requested ( maybe even 40 minutes!) He gets there and she has another customer STILL in her chair!! Not even close to being done!! She's doing a woman's hair, that clearly will take another hour at MINIMUM to finish. Time goes by, my husband is keeping me informed. She then tells him it will be just 20 more minutes. That's the part that INFURIATES me, she KNEW not even close! But she thought she could manipulate my super nice and easy going husband, into just sitting there for another 2 hours while she does this other woman's hair. When she tells my husband it will be just 20 minutes, he tells her he'll take a walk. She then says "Oh I'll call you when I'm done"!!! WOW! He then just tells her he's going to leave. NO SORRY MO HUMBLENESS, zero professionalism! My sweet husband returned home with an Afro, hair untouched!!! I felt soooooo bad for him, I struggled to braid his hair myself, after putting our baby to bed. My husband made sure to wash his hair and be on time for her, while she TOTALLY disregarded his time. Offered NOTHING. He wasted $40 in gas for NO REASON. She clearly doesn't value customers. I see the site said she's the brand awareness manager... TELLS ME ALL I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS BUSINESS. I got passion twists done by Andrea on 2/19. My hair is very curly but it is fine so i knew going into this style that my hair wouldn't last very long in this style but i decided to get it done anyway as a bday gift to myself. From the start of consulting with Andrea about what hair i need to get and what color i needed (i saw a client who went to her and i wanted the color of the hair she had), it would take her days to respond to me where I'd have to call (which she NEVER answered any of my calls) and text her. Her responses were always so short. Once I'm in the seat and she's doing my hair, i have no issues at all. She's being friendly and moving quickly. At the end of the appointment, i let her know that I've never gotten my hair done in a protective style and that although I've done some research i asked her if she had any tips on keeping them clean. She said "well just don't get ur hair wet and use a dry shampoo." That wasn't really helpful at all. Fats forward to almost a month later, my real hair has fallen out of the twists (about 10 of them) so i texted Andrea to see if she could fix some of them. She said yes, that i could come see her on 2/17 after 4am appointment. I told her I'd be getting there around 8:30-8:45. I got about 15 minutes away from the shop and she told me her appointment was taking too much time and she had a 9am appointment already there. I know this is not her fault, it was just a frustrating situation. We ended up agreeing on 7pm that night. She texted me saying to bring my fake hair and she will fix 1 of the twists as a courtesy... When she opened the door for me i asked her how she was and she said "good," but didn't proceed to ask me how i was which i think is rude. I tried to make small talk with her and she completely ignored me. This time around she was not nice to me at all and it made me really uncomfortable. After she "fixed" my hair, my real hair and the fake hair started to fall apart after literally 1 DAY. The first few pics will be of when my hair first got done. The next set will be after i got it "fixed" where u can see she did a sloppy job. Mind you, she didn't even fix 10 twists like she said. She only fixed 7. read more

I was super happy when I saw a post someone shared about this braid shop and a Back to School braid event they were having. I just had a baby, and I have to older girls with heads full of hair and I had zero energy nor desire to braid their hair before school started. So when I saw the post, I would have been a fool not to jump on it. The online booking process was pretty easy and I was able to book both of my girls at the same time, with 2 different braiders. Now, I was nervous because my girls are tender headed and wasn't sure how they would "survive", but both Andrea and Nyla were awesome with them. It took a little more than 2hrs or so, much faster than I would have been able to do. And to top it off, both of my girls looked beautiful and they loved their braids. I found Andrea on Yelp. After looking through reviews and pictures I decided to make a appt. after my braid girl has decided to only do knotless. I drove from OC, but that's ok because I'm willing to drive / pay for what I want. I wanted individual small braids for a upcoming vacation and that it's hot and I didn't feel like doing my hair for a few months. Apparently I ordered the wrong thing and picked box braids instead of individuals. Andrea was kind enough to move her appts around and finish my hair. I was very appreciative of this. My issue is the quality of my braids. Apparently the pics that I loved online were braid bundles ... which are perfect of course. Before this I have never seen or heard of braid bundles ...but I am not happy with the quality of my braids. You can see where all of my hair are sticking out of the braids, not just fly a ways actually where my hair ends. No product was used throughout the braids to keep my hair in and no hair was added throughout the braids. It's just not neat. I can cut the fly aways but I would have liked some effort into making my hair look neat as I am a professional. Also there are just not enough braids ... so my hair doesn't look full. Luckily I have thick hair so the front is ok but the back looks sparse. My ends look sloppy also. I had to have it cut and redipped by my friend . She also tried to fix the braids where all my hair is out. I just like neat, clean braids. Andrea is super nice and accommodating but the quality of the work is not what I am looking for. I didn't say anything because at this point it doesn't matter ... my hair is already done and I can't take it out and start over... plus maybe it's my fault because I ordered the wrong braids in the first place and she rushed through my hair, but I will be taking them out as soon as I come back from vacation. read more

My crochet braids came out very nice. I arrived early but they were ready for me. I was amazed at how fast the stylist was...in and out in about 2.5 hours. My only complaint is that they are on the 2nd floor of a building without an elevator. I have mobility issues so climbing stairs is very difficult but the end result made up for it. read more

Andrea, my point of contact Said she would be there. I gave her time, date, and address. Due to the fires we had to postpone out one week. Two days before my event I called, texted at least 5-10 times, emailed at least 5 times. I begged to tell me whether or not they would come. Absolutely nothing. No I'm sorry, no "we can't make it!," nothing. So unprofessional and rude. I had to find someone to replace her within 24 hours. The last thing I wanted to stress about the day before my event.
