This place is part of the same group as The White Hart and The Antelope, which is just a few doors down. It's loved by the cool kids of the south and treated like their mecca. It's a strange mix with funny hair cuts, skinny jeans, plaid shirts who also mingle with white bootcut jeans and tops from Jane Norman. Nothing wrong with it, I'm just saying its a weird mix. Drinks are reasonable and there is loads of sitting space. It's just a bit of an arse when you get there that they have all been reserved for the rest of the night. Verbally assaulted by one security and one staff at the entrance…read more When we got first line in the queue, we asked if the security guard had a good night, and he responded by saying "don't look or talk to me". After patiently waiting for 45 minutes at first line in the queue, being quiet as we didn't dare to look or speak to the security guard due to his disrespectful and rude attitude - we finally asked if the two of us could go in as our friends was already inside and waiting for us with drinks. The security guard and one from the staff then gets really, really agressive and starts yelling and cursing at us. The security guard and staff verbally assaulted us whilst we was trying to talk them into sense in a calm and polite way. The entire queue of 15 people ended op leaving due to staff's behaviour and thankfully backed us up. We have never experienced behaviour like this, and would never, ever come back. This has all been video documented.

Sometimes people dress up, mostly they don't. Though it's a lot of fun so if you were to dress up it would be cool. Despite its small size it's a great place to go with a group of friends. They have a great bar with Hendricks gin and Asahi on tap. There is also often a live DJ. The last time I went the DJ was dressed the part and he had one of those picnic hamper style LP players. The music was Motown and soul, but did not feel incongruous. It's open till about one so perfect for a laid back night out.

The reason for it being expensive is it's basically opposite the tube and they are trying to keep a certain sort of bar patron going to the Boston rather than their venue - something which undermined the cocktail bar mentioned above. Good little venue inside and most of the time it has a pretty good atmosphere going on, plus in traditional Spanish style - it is of course open late so a good bet for a Friday or Saturday night when the local boozer has closed. It does however (like a lot of pubs/bars) have a bit of a theft problem - in that I think someone in there has had something nicked 2 out of the last 5 times I've been, which isn't so great. The other drawback as already mentioned by Barbaridad is that it does get pretty damn loud at times in there and pretty damn busy too.
