Buzzy little cafe on the eastern edge of the North Balwyn village. It was doing a good local trade when I visited. It seemed like a fairly run of the mill cafe with not much evident to put it above the pack. It contrasted badly with the care and quality of the excellent Le Clec just a few suburbs away and for around the same dollars. Big difference in the decor, dishes and decoration. There's no style evident here and not one hint of greenery making for plain basic and fairly uninteresting decor. I ordered a long black which was slightly bitter with a not too pleasant and long lasting flavour. It had length for the wrong reasons. I didn't have food but what I could see looked pedestrian again. Basic cakes and sandwiches. Some of the meals on the board looked interesting but they were mainly on the pricey side. Service was ok but rather distant and unfamiliar. A disappointing local cafe for me. I can see no reason to return. read more
