They have an excellent bakery and cake section- is it just me or does this Waitrose have more biscuits on offer than usual- temptation! The butcher's counter is also brilliant, as ever in Waitrose, with some of the most helpful staff- I know nothing about meat as a vegetarian, so they were a great help when I was trying to buy something for boyfriend- they advised me on some cheap but yummy cuts.

The majority of it looks lip-smackingly good and is priced reasonably with coffee, pastries and salads to take away for commuters. Handily, they also sell big bags of rice, pasta, pulses and herbs and lots of Ecover household and cleaning products. The menu had plenty of options and also had a vegan burger (which is great because my girlfriend is vegetarian while I'm not). I had the bacon burger and the meat was delicious, cooked just right. My girlfriend had the vegan cheese burger and had no complaints. The problems I had with this place is the overpriced burgers that are not even a whole meal, you literally have to order chips and drinks as "sides". By some lucky miracle, we happened to go on a day where it was 50% off so I saved myself from a $40 burger meal for 2. I also wasn't a big fan on ordering through the app. It was truly a hassle that just added on to the wait time for our food. We had one employee who sat us down outside and tossed our menus on the table and mumbled directions on how to order on the app, without paying any mind to us as if he was staring at something in the opposite direction. Luckily, another dude attended us and he was way politer than the previous one, so that was the upside to it.

The array of exotic fresh herbs and spices is impressive, but they also do a wide range of fresh fruit and vegetables and dairy products, which are as locally sourced as possible. They also have an extensive range of special diet products - for example, gluten free, vegan and vegetarian products, and organic baby food. Prices vary hugely, though: pittas are very good value, for example, but some other items are more expensive. But with such a wide range it is unlikely you won't be able to find what you want. The main downer - as others have said - is the staff, who vary from friendly to downright dismissive. The other particular gripe is the awkward queuing system, that means that on every visit, someone who has arrived later has ended up getting served before me.

What on earth is she doing working there? How the hell did she even get the job? Not to mention i was left at the till for 10mins unattended with the sub, which i could have eaten there and then, she wouldnt even come to the till so i could pay for it till she did the persons sub that was next to me!!!! and then she had the nerve to treat me in the way she did. she had no excuse for her behaviour since she had other people aiding her in the making on subs and the place wasnt full out with customers. But on the plus side the small branch managed to produce a good sub, but i think it was mainly to do with my amazing choice of toppings and sauces rather than the technique. I am not impressed and i think ill be avoiding that subway for quite sometime now, well atleast until they recruit, because i do like my sub!!! Most people come here to buy petrol (as do I) as it's cheaper than most places around here. Dyke Road is one of the main arteries into Brighton from the A27 and leads straight into the centre. The shop is great for essentials, but the range is inevitably limited. The filling station side is a franchise, so you can't use your Tesco Clubcard when you petrol. The shop is often busy with both shoppers and people buying petrol, and the queues are a nuisance is your car / bike is sitting at the pump while you are in a queue. (There's not much room to pull forward to let others in behind). One big bonus is that it is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The store has toilets with baby changing facilities, a cash-point and level access. The main downside is that the forecourt is way too small given how popular it is, so people often queue back down the road. It's also on a busy junction with traffic lights, so getting in and out is a bit of a pain (getting out to turn right back into Brighton can be a nightmare).

Row upon row of confectionary and stacks of bombay mix and the like. For booze think beers, wines and spirits, with plenty already cooling in the fridge. They also have newspapers and magazines, birthday/generic cards and wrapping paper. Sacks of coal or wood. Off the shelf drugs like aspirin or neurophen and basic toiletries. You can top up your leccy here too and get international calling cards. There's a public phone box right outside. The two main guys who work here are very friendly, especially once they get to know your face.
