I have now had him refinish an early 19th century secretary, 2 dressers from the 1800's and a coal bin. All are gorgeous. Just got my record player back, Motorola 1960's vineer oak. We had a house fire and this beautiful piece was mistreated when moved around by another company. Carlos did a great job ! I was very particular on the color and he did exactly as I asked. He even fixed the wobbly legs which were damaged. It looks very stunning! Wow, really impressed with this company! We brought them an heirloom piece that was about 70 years old. Unfortunately, when we moved from Florida to Arizona this poor chest had two of its legs knocked completely off. To make matters worse this was my sisters chest so I felt terrible! I found these guys and they were able to fix the legs. When I picked it up today, it looks better then it did before. No issues at all, fair price as well. Down the road we will definitely use them again :) We didn't refinish the chest in this photo but we will be using them to refinish my other chest down the road. We took four wooden dining room chairs to "The Village Woodsmith" for repair, and they did such a good job that we couldn't see where they had been broken. We then took a tiger maple table to them for repair and refinishing and, once again, it came back like the chairs - beautiful! Carlos was so professional and amiable that we then took in a mantle clock which our son had made in wood shop, but never quite finished. I had 3 pieces that needed refinishing. One was an old steamer trunk. The other two were an old walnut side table and a wooden desk from an old Country School. They were family heirlooms. The trunk had been not covered when the room it was in was painted. It had 100's of little paint flecks on the wood and metal. The leather side handles were rotted off and the inside paper covering was peeling off and stained. After reading about this shop on a Rosie on the House article, I took a chance and hauled it over there. Carlos made it look terrific, cleaned it up without making it look brand new and added a lining to the interior that looks like suede. The 2 tables I figured I could do, but as the months passed, I asked myself, who am I kidding? Got an e-mailed 15% off coupon and took them over. Both were stained and the desk was really bad. It had sat in a detached garage in Iowa for about 10 years. The boards were separated, the veneer coming off the front of the little boxes on either side of the back of the top of the desk. I honestly asked my husband if we should bother, it was that bad. But it was his mom's kitchen desk and he insisted we try to get it fixed. The tables were refinished in the most beautiful way, the desk is an absolute miracle. I would be proud to have it in any room. I should also add that I took over a little side-table that my husband's uncle had made. He made one for each of my 2 kids. One he finished, the other he didn't as his Alzheimer's robbed him of his ability. The little arms, underneath, the drop sides were on backwards and the 2 leaves could not be held up. Carlos fixed that for me for free. It is sanded and ready to be finished and now, both my kids have a Great Uncle table. This is a family run business and they are all terrific people. They make you feel like family and I cannot recommend them highly enough. read more
