I was looking for several months for someone to linen back my original 1950s movie and spook show posters and I found the vintage poster via google search. I gave it full stars because I don't want to be unfair to a business that is closed, but this business is closed. I drove down yesterday (Saturday 2 January 2021) and the building was empty. The signage that you see painted on the windows had been scraped off. There was evidence inside that the building was being remodeled. It's very disappointing that they haven't updated their online information, which as you see indicates that they're open for business. I grew up in Laguna Beach/Laguna Niguel and now live in West Hollywood. Luckily, years ago, I found Vintage Poster in Laguna Beach and whenever I get down there (sadly, not too often these days), I try to stop in here. They have one of the most beautiful collections of vintage posters, all under one roof. The gallery itself is perfectly located right across from the Surf and Sand in the heart of Laguna Beach. Gary and Bryan are super easy to work with, they're always welcoming and super informative. It's a pleasure to spend time with these two and be treated to such great pieces. I have a strange addiction to confess: I get itchy and scratchy and money spendy around vintage fashion posters, and Gary is my dealer. Gary loves vintage posters, even more than I do. We also both have dogs named Dolly Parton, and we both live and die for Chanel. He has one of the best collections of vintage posters in the world. People come from far and wide to admire his collection and pick his brain. He loves to chat with a fellow poster lover. We talked for hours about Warhol's Chanel Prints that I had recently purchased (I could have gotten a better deal from him). He charmed me into a Rene Gruau that I had been coveting: a gorgeous lady in Dior. A rare find, indeed! It's not done with the purchase with Gary. He is a details-man. He treats your poster like a Monet, and encourages the best framing and backing. I researched Vintage Poster for remounting a large format Kina Lillet, that had some minor water damage on the border. After speaking with Gary (who is absolutely amazing) I had decided to move forward and have his place do the work. I am always concerned as some posters from places I have had them remounted, have came back with some imperfections. I have to say that when the Kina Lillet came back to me, it was absolutely PERFECT and almost as if were brand new, I could not be happier. I am truly thrilled with the work. I was walking through Laguna Beach a few months back when I came across this gem. Even though the posters were well out of my price range, Brian was more than willing to show me what they have and why they are so special. He was very informative explaining the poster making process and the differences in European vs American styles. He also discussed quality and grading as well as told me about the website where they have more information on their inventory. I have been collecting vintage original posters for about 20 years, visiting dealers throughout US and Europe, this shop is among the best. The excellent condition of the posters is one thing that amazed me. Condition is one of my most important criteria. Random people handling posters typically worth thousands of dollars is unacceptable, any crease, tear, dirt will decrease the value dramatically! To have a poster that has survived 100 years and remain in excellent condition only to be damaged by negligence of customer should be a crime. read more

Gary & "company" have done several restoration projects for me over the years on WWI & WWII posters. They contract out the restoration work and have great connections that do excellent work. When the piece comes back, the gallery mats and frames the piece. Expensive, yes. But the quality and their depth of knowledge makes it worth the time and money. Awful customer service. Worker was extremely rude he raised his voice at us and cussed because we didn't know his precious "art work" wasn't touchable. I don't care if it's worth 1000,000 dollars you don't belittle or talk so rudely to a potential customer the way he did. Don't support this kind of attitude. read more

I collect vintage posters and think that Gary has one of the largest collections in the United States. It is a real treat to stop by the gallery and look through his collection. That having been said, the prices tend to be VERY high-but its an upscale dealer so it is to be expected. If you are into vintage posters, I suggest you look at some of the online dealers. There are certainly many one-of-a-kind posters. However, there are many posters that can be found with other online dealers. Definitely price shop before buying. It is hard with beautiful posters though. read more
