They receive new books frequently, and carry an impressively wide array of books, especially for such a small store. Prices are great, owners are friendly, and it's even got a pretty generous loyalty program. The only downsides to me are just standard stuff. Sometimes you'll buy a book and sometimes the inside will be full of someone else's annotations. That's happened before, but it's just a risk of buying used rather than new. Same goes for potentially not having the specific book you're looking for. These are sort of universal problems for used book stores though, and are well worth it for all of the benefits. Absolutely worth your time, especially if you live nearby.

Good prices. Lots of books (did I already say that?). Per the usual, I waddled out with arms bursting with my haul. I got a mix of Clearance fiction and some new non fiction. They have cute gift items as well, and the people are friendly. I did sell back a stack on a previous trip, and was not impressed with the buy back prices, but that's pretty much normal for consignment, and it did (temporarily) reduce the book burden in my house, which was the goal. Book burden was replaced during subsequent visit and has been returned to stasis.

They've closed the basement level and are sorting through the large inventory, curating what's on the shelves, and selling most of the used books for only $1-2 apiece. There's no longer a cat there, which is a little sad, but it does feel like a healthier environment and no longer a deterrent for folks with a cat allergy. I'm excited to see what's ahead for this friendly local business.

I knew about this place since I grew up in the area, so on one of our trips "back home" to the area I brought my boyfriend here. Now every time we visit, we grab a coffee from next door (Templeton's) and pop into Books in Stock to peruse the many, many, MANY shelves of books for at least a couple of hours, and always leave with a stack or two of wonderful finds. Apart from the vast selection that spans every genre you could possibly think of, the atmosphere in this shop is the true soul of this place. Two floors packed full of books (and that comforting old-book-smell) with chairs here and there should you care to plop down for a literary adventure. We've frequented many bookstores in many states, and this is still our favorite one. You'll almost always find what you're looking for - and probably leave with several books you didn't know you needed when you walked in.

This place is really great if you're looking for "their type"...which seemed to be Christian definitely, nationalist maybe...so if you're into that you'll love it. There WERE sections for diverse topics-they were just either empty or nearly so. Maybe a bunch of witchy liberal first peoples recently came through and they haven't recovered? There were whole aisles devoted to Christian books. All in all, not diverse but they do have nice books if you are looking for what they carry.

They also take donations here, so it's easy to drop off that bag of items that has been riding around in your car the last few months. The store is clean and well organized, but the prices left something to be desired. If you're looking for non-fiction, they have some pretty solid deals, with a lot of books priced around $5. But they price the second hand mass market paper backs that are a bit beat up at $4. Some had likely been through several owners. While that's a decent price for a book, for a paperback cozy mystery published over 20 years ago in some cases, the deals are less good. So I'd say good deals on used books here is a bit hit or miss

It's a used bookstore with a lot of older books, but I saw some popular ones from present day there as well. The books were organized very nicely by genre and author, so it made it really easy to browse! There's also a healthy supply of crystals and witch type things (I'm not into that, but there's a witch museum next door so it must be popular!). I knocked off a star because the building is over 100 years old and it shows. Parking was also tricky. We had to walk a few blocks and none of the city's sidewalks were shoveled :( And also, the hours were different than what were posted online, so it was inconsistent.
