I enjoy visiting our local Vitamin Shoppe for my supplements. I always feel like the products are more reliable than some found on Amazon. I came in looking for a specific product and one of the staff helped me find it immediately. Beyond just finding what I needed, they were really knowledgeable when I asked for recommendations on a few other things. They have a large selection and I love how organized the layout is. It makes a normally overwhelming shopping trip feel really manageable. The product I was buying came in 3 sizes and were all reasonably priced. Rude manager. Went to take back a defective bottle of protein that didn't have the correct flavor and the manager treated me like I was a nuisance and appeared to put product she knew was defective back on the sales floor for someone else to stumble upon. You can find cheaper products online and you don't get the attitude. Would not recommend. read more

I have been a long-time customer of the vitamin shop but definitely online. When I lived in Los Angeles there was several locations I went to if it was on my route but traffic was always so bad I usually just order it online and they had really good deals. I moved back to Bakersfield and this vitamin shop is pretty big and pretty much have everything I needed. I was really sick and Rick really helped me out. I have an illness that I knew really nothing about and I was sick for a really long time last year.. This last time it only lasted 3 or 4 days with the supplements that he recommended to me. This shop has its own parking. A little away from the Highway 99. The place had a sale by one and get one for 50% off. So I found the Vitamin-D drops . On November 1, 2011 @ approximately 7:38PM, my sister, my nephew and myself went to Vitamin Shoppe in Bakersfield (5300 Stockdale Highway, Bakersfield, CA 93309 (The Vitamin Shoppe)), which is 29.2 miles away from my home. I am a loyal Vitamin Shoppe customer and have recently moved here from Northridge, CA. I used to shop at the Vitamin Shoppe off of Tampa and Nordhoff and never had a problem with the customer service there. At this particular Vitamin Shoppe, I am not familiar as to where the usual Multivitamin I purchase with no Iron is located and no one offered to assist me so I proceeded to browse through the store. My sister had never been there and I was telling her to purchase her vitamins from this store as opposed to GNC because I personally found your product of higher quality. As we were browsing my two year old nephew grabbed a box of "Happy Pills" because of the smiley faces on the box and was showing his mother. She grabbed the box from him and put it back on the shelf where it went. I wandered off to the Women's Health section to look for my Omega-3 and Multi-Vitamin with no Iron as I am allergic to Iron. As I did so my sister and my nephew followed me and the store associate by the name of Debbie came to inquire about the toddler's mother. My sister stated she was his mother and Debbie stated you need to watch your son he is "dropping everything and destroying my inventory." My sister said, "what is he dropping, he hasn't dropped anything, I have been watching him and everything he has grabbed from the shelves I have put back where it goes." Debbie proceeded to argue with my sister and state look at him he is grabbing things. My nephew at this moment is pointing at a white bottle of Vitamins. He was not destroying anything nor dropping it. I said to Debbie, "Really?" Debbie says, "Yes, look at him, he is grabbing everything" My nephew at this point has stopped touching the bottles of vitamins because he is intelligent enough to understand this woman is upset about something. I proceeded to say, "Okay, we will just leave then" Debbie said, "That's fine." She pranced off to her register in a very angry fashion. I asked a male sales associate for her name and he provided that to me and I also asked them for the store number, however they did not provide that to me. I had to go to the cashier and tell Debbie to write her name down along with the store number for me please. She did not do so and I simply grabbed a business card that was located up front and left the building. I am sad to say that I will no longer be shopping at Vitamin Shoppe as this was completely inappropriate and disrespectful on her behalf. She will forever be known as Debbie the Downer. read more

This review is much over due, but I have to express my lack of satisfaction. I had gone to The Vitamin Shop to look for a vitamin b complex supplement that didn't have a ridiculous potency, but could only find bottles with 300-1000+% the daily value. I know the b complex is water soluble, so excess intake isn't too concerning; I'd just rather stay with in the recommended daily value. A female employee approached me (wish I got her name) and asked if she could help. I explained what I just mentioned. She asked in the rudest tone "Why don't you just take a multi vitamin then?" That could be helpful advice, but her tone was condescending; it was as if asking for an isolated, low dose vitamin b complex required a genie in that store. I left soon after and have yet to return, nor do I plan to. I ended up finding just what I wanted in a gummy vitamin at Walmart. For any other vitamins or soy protein powder I now to Cones on Gosford and Stockdale. Unlike this business, I am very satisfied with their selection and customer service. read more
