She overcharged me for every item. ask for prices before you buy anything. they do not answer the phone or show items on your receipt. I filed a complaint with my credit card company and the BBB. I purchased a candle that she charged my fried $12 but charged me $25 and the gris-gris bags were $8/each or 2 for$10 but she charged me $25 each. I went on the 5 in 1 voodoo tour and it was awesome! Stories about ghosts, vampires, pirates, voodoo and magic. The woman leading the tour is a 5th generation voodoo priestess. You can get psychic readings in her shop too which is awesome! All of the psychics have to read her fortune and her entire families before they are hired to work here. Not worth it at all. I give it two stars for the authenticity of the altar and cool things to look at while you wait for a reading. I do believe that some people have a gift to see things others cannot. However, I didn't find that here. I'm not a sceptic and have had a very telling reading in the past elsewhere. Before my visit, I did my research and this had good reviews on Yelp and online. When you enter the alleyway for the shop, you're told that the Voodoo Bone Lady is a fifth generation Voodoo priestess. She was in the shop and was the person that took my money while scheduling me for the reading. There was one person ahead of me and she was led back behind the curtain. As I waited, I looked around and the unique shop. The walls are lined with bones, herbs, candles, totems, dolls, and various items for purchase on coffin and stone shaped shelves. Nothing is priced and you have to ask. I was sent upstairs for my reading and it was not the priestess, instead a young man named Moholly (spelling?). So you can guess, I was already disappointed and ticked off. From the time I entered, I was led to believe she would be doing my reading. The timer was started and I was asked if I had any questions. My hand was taken and then the cards were dealt. As he went through the cards, I felt like this was a lesson on what each card represented but not how they connected to me. The overall reading said that I just needed to continue my current path. I would be sure to ask who will be doing your reading. Go into this knowing they aren't real psychics and this is just for fun. I got nothing from this. No photos posted, because we were asked not to take photographs inside. read more

The decor is what attracted me. Black owned and operated shop which is what I was hoping for. 15 min palm reading a little under $40 but I honestly felt like she read me like a book and I didn't give away any information that would've assisted her in this reading . My husband and I were literally the first customers to enter her brand new shop! 5/27/17 was the official grand opening of the Voodoo Bone Lady Voodoo shop. No pictures allowed in the store. Everything is brand spanking new and just like an experience you would imagine having in New Orleans. The staff is super friendly as well! The exterior is very unassuming, we just so happened to notice the beaded curtain outside and it piqued my interest. Inside is absolutely gorgeous. The ambience, the decor, the lovely smell of incense, and all of the unique and eye catching items in the shop made it a truly magical experience. Almost hypnotizing. After one of their later tours that ended right in front of the shop, we opted to go into the shop to add to our first time visiting New Orleans. What better than to add an authentic Voodoo Shop? The shop itself was on the smaller side, but it did not disappoint showing the essence of voodoo. We did partake in a couples tarot reading and that did not disappoint. Should you do it, try to be open even if your partner drags you to do it. Live the experience. We were a bit caught off guard so we didn't expect to be able to ask ANY question which the cards may have answer to. Hint:if you are a couple, there are only a couple readers strong enough to do a couple reading. After our amazing reading which we were not asked if we wanted longer minutes or any persuasion of any sort, we decided to purchase a tarot card for a friend. Took the cemetery tour. Our guide Brian was funny and very knowledgeable. He was happy to answer any questions we had. The cemetery itself is really interesting and has so much history. It lasted about 2 hours and there was a bathroom stop before we entered the cemetery. I enjoyed the fact that our group was small (only 7 people) because it allowed us all to stand close enough to the guide so we could easily hear. There were a lot of other large tour groups and it just seemed like they were always fighting each other for space and to get pictures, we didn't have that problem. read more

Cons - The reading was only for 15 minutes for 70 plus dollars. I personally believe a reading with that cost should be for 30-45 mins. - The reading was not completed because time was up. This was by far the most disappointing reading in my life. It was the bone reading with a gentleman that costs $71.00 with taxes for 15 minutes. My two friends and I went and all pretty much had the same basic, generic reading. Nothing specific to our situation and nothing telling me what to expect in my future. read more

This is the most authentic Voodoo Store I ever been in. I'm from Norway so Voodoo is very new to me. I was walking around the french quarter around 9 am, looking for a psychic, but everything was closed because of the rain... I looked up at Yelp to see if I could find something, and this shop came up. I saw it didn't have a lot of reviews, but something inside me told me to go there, and I'm glad I did!! When I got there I tried to get in, but the door was closed. I stayed under the roof because it was raining and I was gonna wait until it was open, but suddenly one of the priests came out, and she Said I could come in to look and buy something if I wanted. It ended up that I got a private tour around the shop, where I heard the stories about all the things in there and how they're made and where they're from. It was so much fun and intresting, and I didnt feel like it was a tourism shop at all. She was so friendly, and I can't believe she took her time to show me around, although they haven't opened yet. I ended up buying a lot of stuff, authentic stuff, and walked back to my hotell Room, happy knowing that I now can bring back real voodoo things to my healing/spiritual Room in Norway.
