    Silly Feminine Energy
    Stacey H.

Made me feel like a local! If you are trying to find fun places to go out in Broken Bow/Hochatown, the internet often is not much help. I found scant information online about the Watering Hole, but something about what I was able to see made it seem like a place we wanted to go. I mentioned it to staff at some of the places around town and was told the same thing over and over "it's really a local's bar.". This was usually followed by a compliment like "it's great", but I wasn't sure what was meant by the first part. I remained stubbornly committed to checking it out. I was visiting Broken Bow as a group of three ladies celebrating a birthday. We were looking for a place to kick off a Saturday night that would definitely end with some dancing. We were appropriately, if not slightly ridiculously, wearing matching fringe jackets and hyped for our fun evening. When we pulled up at the Watering Hole, we could see inside the whole place. Less than 10 patrons were inside, about 90% were guys. Real guys guys, ranging in age from 45 to 65 and we had a moment of trepidation about how our silly feminine energy would be received. Any nerves we had shook right out of our fringe after we went inside. We were greeted warmly by a few of the patrons, who came over and inquired about our outfits. The curiosity came from a nice place and they kindly wished our birthday girl a happy birthday. We were even gifted a beverage called The Sasquatch. Bright yellow, deadly strong and banana flavored, we split it amongst the three of us and enjoyed it to the last drop. Grant was bartending and chatting with him was a highlight of our entire evening. He was interested and interesting and clearly a skilled barman. He shared insights to the local are humored our music selection before wishin and sending us on to scoot our boots. This is a perfect local's bar, and we were welcomed like locals. Every town should have a Watering Hole.

Nice little dive bar! The pulled pork was melt in your mouth from next door. The bar tender, Kelsey, was very friendly and welcoming.

Food was pretty good. Friday night at 6:30, out of ribs, sausage, Mac and cheese and Cole slaw.

Right off the bat, their draft beer machine wasn't working, so we stuck with water and a soda. After being seated, there was a noticeable delay before our waitress came back. She explained she was dealing with an issue on another customer's credit card, which slowed things down. We started with the fried pickles. They were very good. Crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked right, but the portion felt a little light for an appetizer. For the main, we shared the Oklahoma country fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gravy. That was the highlight. The steak had a solid crust with good flavor, and everything on the plate was done right. No complaints there. Overall, the food was strong, especially the country fried steak, but the service and the draft beer situation held it back some. If they tighten that up, it'd be a much better experience.

The drinks were okay and very average - it wouldn't keep us away or bring us back! As an appetizer, we had the fried Swiss cheese. It was definitely different and interesting in comparison to your mozzarella, but it was cool to try! I wouldn't reorder. My husband had a 8oz. Sirloin with a side of corn and I had the chicken tenders with fries. The chicken tenders were delicious, but the frozen crinkle cut fries dampened the whole meal - for almost $20 for chicken tenders, I would've loved some house made or hand battered fries! The rolls with each meal were good, but could've used some butter! The steak was well cooked and the corn had good flavor! Everything was mediocre overall, we would likely come back on account of the chicken tenders, but wouldn't run back for anything else.

It is more American food food and bar food. THis is more like a sports bar. We have not eaten at Chili's since we can not use food credit or comped food. I ordered the Chicken Fried steak with the coleslaw and baked potato that was loaded. We got our food within 20 minutes and it was really good. I enjoyed the food and service. Would definitely eat here again.

The staff is great however the cooks need to be fired. I most recently dined their on June 9, 2026. I asked the server he would recommended as an appetizer? He said the friend pickles were awesome, so I ordered some. About 50% did even contain a pickle, just fry batter, and very dark batter, whch indicates to me, they need to change their oil. I also had the ribeye with pinto beans, and green beans. The ribeye was decent, but for the price I expected more honestly. It was a very poor cut, and no marbling...just globs of sloppy fat. ALOT OF FAT. And very greasy. Still, it tasted decent and was by far the best part of the meal. The beans were cold, and tough, and looked like they had just been poured from the can. This placed was at one time decent, but now it is terrible to put it nicely. I ended getting food poising. I will not be back and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
