The pub is steeped in history and that is reflected in the well kept but near un-touched interior. They have some great ales on tap and all are served with a friendly smile and, if not too busy, are happy to talk through some of the pub's history. The garden here in the summer is fantastic. The views are breath-taking and they run a barbecue every Sunday which of course, does attract a huge crowd so either get there early or have some extra bags of patience with you. We head there without fail once a year with a big group of friends and spend the whole afternoon eating and drinking beer, I highly advise you to do the same!

The rooms are nice and clean and very comfortable indeed. I had one of the best nights sleep ever when I stayed there last summer. Please note that there are LOTS of narrow stairs to climb if you are staying on 3rd-4th floors. Of course, staff forewarns customers upon booking and on website as well. With the new menu we thought we'd give them another chance and glad we did! We had a roast yesterday and it was delicious - lots of vegetables, loads of meat and a nice option for my vegetarian husband. We shared a pudding (brownie and honeycombe ice cream) and it was one of the nicest things ever! I wanted another one immediately but controlled myself :) Lovely staff and good table service.
