Black paintwork and nicotine walls. Black Boy dates back to the 1330s, though the first reference to licenced premises on the site was in 1729. Most now is 17th and 18th century. Ye Olde Black Boy is the definitive genuine traditional Olde English pub and of course it has a ghost. it is a little slave boy (hence the name) who was a servant there before the abolishion. With 3 rooms the music is from funky house in the main room to my particular favouirte in the back room. I have had some of the best nights out in this club. Door fee from £5 and drinks are not be badly priced. They no longer hold their cabaret and karaoke nights in the club as these are now held in 1 of their pre bar, The Yorkshireman - but this is a fab night out for all. This venue is also available for private hire.

The pub is set out pretty well with some quirky bits such as a bed as a table and old guness signs all over the place. It has a open fire in the winter which is very cosy and frequent live music. Happy hour is the best time to visit. If I was to give a bad point it would be the lack of seating, they could fit a lot more seating in there as it can get quite busy at times.
