Just checked out my new local pub the White Swan, in the heart of Charlton village. It believe it reopened relatively recently after refurbishment and management change. I watched a rather terrible England game in the Euros here, but despite the despair hanging thick in the air I really liked the atmosphere at the pub. They had a big screen especially set up for the tournament and an in house horn section blasting some upbeat terrace songs to rally our spirits. They even played 'Tequila', but gin is more of this pubs specialty with a rather impressive gin menu on each table. There is also a fine selection of real ales up for grabs. It looks like they have many fun nights planned too, with regular music and comedy nights coming up. Usually they serve food, although this wasn't on offer during the football game so I can't comment on this. The pub is spacious, and there's a little garden at the back, Friendly staff make this pub ripe for a second visit and a good spot for a summer time tipple if you are in SE7. read more
