I had a really nice dinner here last night. The staff were friendly and the food tasted fresh! I'd definitely come back again.

Late November, weekday lunch ends up being a nice time to go here... because my family and I were the only ones there. Or anywhere near Greenwich, it turns out. But the weather was comfortably cool and dry-ish, the view cloudy but still fantastic, and the food excellent. I had the venison, apple, and leek sausages... this being near the end of our trip, I wanted to keep it traditional. Plus I'm pretty sure you just can't find this stateside; crisp exterior, full-on savory interior, atop a hearty waxy potato mash. Very simple, very good; no regrets. No regrets on the treacle tart either, which to be honest I wasn't sure exactly _what_ it was, but realized one bite in that it's a whole lot of golden syrup. Which isn't something I can't really find at home either, and is probably one of my favorite flavors in sweet food. I liked it so much, I swore to figure out how to make one when I got back (which I will do, as soon as we're through all the Christmas cookies.) It's not that far a walk down the Thames, but definitely worth it. read more

Had an absolutely fabulous New Year's Eve dinner here. Food and service were faultless even though the restaurant was very busy

Food is quite good and tasty (count 25£/pers). But the main attraction is the terrasse on the Thames that gets sunset light if the weather is ok and the great view. The pub is distant enough from Greenwhich so that you have a good chance of finding a table outside without booking. Great place to have a beer and watch the ships on the Thames read more

Arranged a dinner for our team here around tradeshow time. We got a private room at the Crow's Nest which was very small but nice. They provide us AV and a screen free of charge since we were dining there. a couple of issues: (1) They were impossible to get in touch with AFTER we paid the initial deposit for dinner. They didn't send us the final menu on time and also forgot to note that if we didn't pick items and inform them the choices would NOT be available. a majority of our group (17) were opting to get Steak which was not available upon arrival! This is really unacceptable since we paid the exclusive meal price at £35 per person. Also unacceptable was the fact was that we booked 4 months in advance and they should have been well prepared with the food! (2) Food was okay it wasn't that great. I ordered the Bream which was very fresh but didn't tingle my taste buds too much. I also had trouble taking the meat off the bones since it was cooked so well the bones would come off easily read more

I really like this place. Cool atmosphere. Nice service. Great outdoor seating overlooking the river. The fish and chips are great and very filling. The goat curd on toast was a delicious, light starter. It was really nice and busy on a Saturday and less busy on the weekdays. It's a great place to go eat or if you just want to get some beer with friends :) read more

The Cutty Sark has an interesting, old-fashioned feel with lots of quiet little nooks and crannies. The pub is dog friendly, as long as you don't try and take them upstairs. The food is really good, Sunday dinner servings are absolutely enormous. However, it seems their definition of roast potatoes is a little off, in that they were not at all crispy and looked as though they had only been shown the pan full of hot oil, rather than sat in it for a while. Other than the potato issues, everything else made for a perfect place to while away a Sunday afternoon. read more

Probably one of my favourite pubs in South-East London. Situated right by the Thames, the outside seating area is spacious and simply divine when the weather is good. The view is simply breathtaking! The food is extremely good, the beers are just what you want when you need a drink, and the staff are friendly. The atmosphere is generally really good, and seemingly welcoming of almost everybody... and their pets! It's not the cheapest place you'll visit whilst in Greenwich, but still very much worth a look! read more

Probably my favourite riverside pub in Greenwich. It's about a 10min walk from the crowded tourist haunts of Greenwich town centre, but here you can actually sit outside the front of the pub. Across the narrow cobbled street (mind the occasional cars and bikes, though), is a paved area equipped with benches and tables. This looks across the river to the Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf or downstream towards the O2. The charming bulk of the Greenwich power station and its jetty add to the scenic interest. It's also worth mentioning that this pub is on the Thames Path, so makes a good place for a drink and a meal if you're tackling this stretch. In the winter, it is a warm and welcoming place too. read more

This is what a 'battle cruzer' ( sorry for that ) should be like. In the heart of Greenwich, but still far away not be a tourist trap, beautiful and rugged inside, you feel like you are stepping back in time when you come in here. Unfortunately the weather wasn't so good when I was here so I couldn't sit outside, and there was plenty of room to do so. Good selection of drink, I had an ale which was reasonably priced considering where we were. But top of the shop was the food, I had traditional fish and chips, and without doubt the fish was one of the best I've had, and I live on the coast. The batter was worth the price alone, chunky hand cut chips as well. In fact the food was so good I am gonna go back tomorrow.. shiver me timbers ( sorry again). read more

Definitely my favourite place to drink in the area. Great beer selection, food is great and there place has loads of character. Decent amount of outside seating makes it a great place to drink in summer by the river. The inside is old pubby which I like. The food was great. Nothing elegant, just good pub food. That I'm pretty sure was actually cooked as opposed to heated up! A rare treat!! read more

We pub quiz here every Wednesday and I couldn't recommend it enough! The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere and location are amazing. My only niggle is the price of food and drinks, a tad expensive for one night out but if you win the quiz you get £50 to spend on anything so it's worth trying! read more

Beautiful location and awesome outdoor patio. Inside is a very cozy and traditional pub. Food and drink are over priced, but it is London after all. The quiz is great fun and the host a laugh! Only negative is the arrogant and downright rude staff. Too busy checking their own reflections to serve the constantly long queue at the bar. They make you feel as though you're intruding on their private party when you're trying to order, in particular the man who's always wearing a cowboy hat who acts as though he's doing you some great favour by pouring your drink. The place only succeeds because of its location and quality of the food. Don't come here expecting a warm welcome, don't think the staff have ever heard of customer service. read more

This is, by some distance, the best pub in Greenwich. Great location, good food and a wide selection of beers with a decent wine list. Utterly ruined, however, by an awful bar team. At least now I know where to come if I want to waste 20 minutes standing doing nothing on a Sunday afternoon watching idiots polish glasses while the crowd at the bar is 5 deep. It's not worth the aggravation. Avoid this pub. read more

Cutty Sark was one of my favorite pubs that I visited in London. If you want a warm, homey, relaxing environment to have some dinner and drinks with friends this is a great place to go and they have an amazing view and place you can eat outside. read more

What's not to like about this place. Sufficiently out of the centre of Greewich that you won't be trampled by tourists. A big selection of very well kept beer. Fantastic menu. Incredible location. Superb prices especially bearing in mind where you are. Yes, it's a pain to get to if you have to flog across town to get there. In return though, you get to sit in the sun watching the dead seagulls float down the Thames and gaze across at Canary Wharf. A real gem of a pub. read more

Dropped by here for a drink before dinner on a lazy Sunday with my boys. And they've never been round this end of Greenwich! I've always loved this pub, ever since a yelp event- it's out the way and still in historic greenwich so it feels really local. I was right, we were here and it was all youngish students from the uni but not raucous and families as well. Really nice mix! My family were impressed with the decor and enjoyed it being much less touristy Than central Greenwich. The inside bar area is cosy and it's got that whole wooden ship feel to it with wood beams and wooden staircases! The outside was right by the waterside Thames, it's not as pretty as down the road looking towards canary wharf and city, it's a bit more industrial but it's still relaxing! We ordered soft drinks and a Yakima red to share. Because I HAD To get them to try it. (The only beer I like really!) Greenwich brewed beer in a Greenwich pub on a lazy Sunday is the way to go really! I realise this is a really long review for a few drinks. LOL read more

I didn't eat here. Well I had Pimms and ice cream sundae here, outside, on the benches, by the river. And then inside, upstairs, by the window, with the view of the river and O2. You can't not want to be here on rare sunny days in London, if you can find it of course. So beautiful. read more

My most recent top qype recommendation is an unusual pub that definitely benefits from the large space outside in warmer weather. Not tables outside...just space to stand and steps to sit on right out by the river. Pub looks really nice from outside tooboth old and new somehow. Inside the bar has a back to basics, stripped down old fashioned look to it. Loads of wood all aroundcertainly worth a look. Also in this pubs favour is a good selection of ales including 1 or 2 I had not come across before. I wish the service had been a bit quicker, but the pub was very busy on a beautiful day. read more

I love this pub! I have been here just for a drink, for lunch, for a snack and for dinner and each time have thoroughly enjoyed myself. They serve good food, with local elements such as the bread. My salmon on wholemeal bread was so good I often dream of phoning sick into work, heading down here, ordering a sandwich and pint of cider and reading my book (or looking out the huge window at the view). They let dogs in here too, which is totally cool. I have found the staff all to be nice. Especially so when I brought my family here (from Mauritius) and they wanted to take photos of everything. They were more than happy to pull a pint and have a photo taken. So do yourself a favour - walk out of Greenwich town centre and head over to this local. read more

This is a great little treasure hidden at the very back of Greenwich. Don't believe me? Well it's nowhere near the Cutty Sark for a start. But don't let that put you off. You've got a lovely fifteen minute walk by the river and through the University grounds before you get there. There's something homely about it in here. You have to 'local' Greenwich feel, instead of the 'student' feel. Not that there's anything wrong with the students here - I was one after all. But the pub sticks to it's roots and it feels relaxing and comfortable. That said, there's two seperate areas, the upstair part is for people eating. Even though that's never been specified, it's just an unwritten rule. You can still eat downstairs though. Amd you get to sit on chiar made out of beer barrels. Which I really quite like. The food is great. I take my folks here for Sunday dinner and it keeps them happy. The sunday roasts are huge, but pretty good. Not the best, but I don't like cabbage so it annoys me that they always serve it. That's my fault though. I'm fussy. I do like their bangers and mash in a yorkshire pud though. Yum! You can sit outside in the summer, but even over the weekend you get a nice polite group of people, not noisy shrieking kids. I like that it's quite quiet in here. I got recommended this pub recently (thanks Sian!), and I'd very much like to pass on the recommendation. It's a lovely ten minute stroll east along the river from the main centre of Greenwich, but don't be put off when you're diverted away from the river at the (packed) Trafalgar Taven. The Cutty Sark Tavern enjoys a pretty spot on the river, with great views over to the Millennium Dome (I still can't bring myself to call it 'the O2'). There isn't a huge amount of outdoor seating, which is a shame, though there are plenty of places outside where you can perch with your drink to enjoy the vista. I can also imagine this would be a cool place to come once the summer months have drifted away, with the creaky, wooden decor providing a cosy place to drink away a nippy winter's night. 4 of us came here for drinks before dinner. Restaurant doesn't sit directly on the river so there's not much of a view on the 1st floor, but I think if you sit upstairs by the window you can probably see the river and O2 - especially on a nice day out! The space itself is cozy, charming and full of character. You also find more locals here than tourists (I think). I can't comment on the food or anything else, we only stayed for a round of drinks and headed out to dinner. read more

This pub is a little more out the way than some of the Greenwich mainstay, located just behind the old power station. Benefitting from great views over the Thames and of the city (the O2 can be ignored if you turn you back/close your eye/have a good imagination) this pub is great for a drink by the river in the Summer months. Another added bonus is that they have had the infinite wisdom to serve Addlestone's cider on draught which is always a pleasant advantage to any such a venue in the Summer. Great views and chilled out nights to be had if you're prepared to walk a little off the beaten track. read more

The Cutty Sark Tavern's quality is in its location; nestled away on the riverside but found through a host of terraced houses and factories. It's quite a walk from central Greenwich and as a result there are barely any day trippers and all day drinking gangs of people. It's quiet without being deserted and more local without being bereft of the holiday maker's enthusiasm. The pub itself is very pleasent, it's an old building and the decor and furniture do reflect this. It does seem to be made out to look like the inside of a galleon, it's certainly dark but comfortable. They serve a nice cold draught cide, Addlestones and considering this is one of my summer pubs of choice that's a bonus. Being able to sit outside on the riverside is a wonderful blessing and a joy that many visiting Greenwich never get to experience. The food is pretty usual stuff, although I did have a fairly good fish and chips, sat upstairs looking out across London. I've had many enjoable days here and should you be in the area it is well worth hunting out. Staff beer and cider get A+ ." fish" cakes ( staff recommendation) more fitting a delicious potato cake with pink specks of possible salmon . . Poor food show! Top pub. Great pub to sit outside in the sunshine (when we have some!) and enjoy the views over the river. Cosy and warm inside, complete with creaking floorboards and low ceilings. Hidden just along the river, it takes a little while to find, but well worth it. read more

It's a great pub with gorgeous views - and despite loads of outside seating, it gets a little overcrowded on a summer night. I took my family there recently for a proper dinner instead of the usual bar snacks - the food was amazing and the goats cheese souffle is inspirational! read more

You can't make this place up! The tavern is quite old and filled with character-/loads of cozy spots to enjoy a drink and catch up with friends. If you want to be outside there's plenty of tables right on the Thames. The food is not to be missed! Fresh fish, burgers, salads, a savory pot pie and vegetarian entrees. We came for an event in the crows nest, although why it's called that with pictures of parrots on the wall is anyone's guess,. Good beer and solid pub food, especially the burger which is top notch. Only detraction was the heat in the room - not enough air for a group, and the window ac unit was useless. By all means book to come here as it's an amazing location, but avoid the steamy crows nest (in the summer) read more

Great classic pub. I had a fantastic burger with pulled pork and my friend had the vegetarian pearl barley risotto which was also great.

A great Thames side pub with outdoor seating, fantastic beer and solid food. We stopped in for a quick pint and ended up spending a couple hours and eating dinner. We had the fish pie, a risotto dish, a burger, a meat pie app and a Scotch egg. All were very good as was the service. The only down side, and it's a small one, is that the menu seems a little pricy. The interior looks nice too but if the weather is nice, outside is the way to go. I love this place. It's not far from a five. read more

A perfect pub really. Great beer selection including several Meantimes on tap (brewed a stone's throw away). Dark and cosy inside and a good atmosphere. Friendly and competent bar staff. Gastropub food but still definitely a pub rather than a restaurant with a bar. Being right on the river there are good views too. Also they run a pub quiz every Wednesday and there are usually some dogs knocking around. read more

The whole pub impressed me and as others have said the barrels are very cool. Not too comfy but cool. Good prices here and definately a place to visit. If you want the proper 'Greenwich Pub' experience there's not another pub with this view or service...the staff are amazing and will quite happily bring your pint in the freezing cold out to you just because you would like to sit outside and enjoy the view...the food is amazing and the inside is beautiful exactly what you would expect from a 'Traditional' Greenwich Pub... read more

Went on a recommendation from a friend and wasn't disappointed! It has a really warm cosy feel but is very spacious at the same time, with wonderful 'shabby chic' furniture and decor. The selection of bar snacks made my mouth water, home made sausage rolls and pork pies. We sat upstairs for a couple of pints with amazing views of canary wharf lit up at night. Shame we couldn't stay for dinner - but will definitely be back!! read more
