I came here to make wine for my wedding, and doing so saved me so much money. First of all, I got the referral coupon that saved me $175 on ~28 bottles of wine. Booking the wine online was super simple - I just checked the website, read the descriptions of all the wine they had available to make, and put my order through. Now because I had been to a different location a while back, I didn't even have to come in in person to drop the yeast - they did it for me! I went with the German Riesling this time to provide a nice white wine for my wedding. The ability to choose sweetness was a great touch of personalization. And then several weeks later, I got the call to come in and bottle my wine. There was enough time for me to call in the help of my bridesmaids, and we made a really fun night out of bottling the wine. Even better was the fact that we got to taste it before the conditioner was added to make it even sweeter. I recently made my own batch of Sauvignon Blanc with Wine Butler. It was my first time ever having a hand in making my own wine, so the staff were SO helpful in showing me how everything was done. It was so easy & fun! - Step one: Choose your favourite wine, & make your appointment online. You'll then go in for your first appointment, where you'll do the "yeast drop". This process takes a couple minutes - you're just adding the yeast to the grape juice. - Step two: About 6-8 weeks later, you'll get a notification that your wine is ready! You'll go back to the store & start the wine bottling process! The first step is to fill each bottle with your wine using their bottling station. - Step three: Using their air-powered corker, you'll cork each bottle! - Step four: Choose a colour of neck sleeve for your wine. Using a heat gun, you'll shrink wrap it to the top of each bottle. - Step five: Apply your labels to each bottle (they're stickers, so it's easy to apply!) - Step six: take home & enjoy! read more

This was the second time I made wine here. My first time I did the $39 for 14 bottle Groupon; the process was great - the online booking option and clear pricing on their website was a huge draw for me as many similar stores require phone calls/visits to get this info. I came, did the yeast drop, then a while later came back to bottle the wine, which took very little time. The staff were very friendly, explaining the process to us and gave us tips on how to bottle the wine properly. The facility is also very clean and spacious; we took our time to enjoy the bottling process and it turned out to be a pretty fun activity. There were 3+ stations, so we didn't feel rushed at all. Corks were included, and there were many labels to make the bottles look nice, which is great if you want to gift them away. I intended to drink all of mine myself but l still labeled all of them nicely, just in case I needed a last minute housewarming gift lol. The batch from our first visit was ready to drink in a couple months and tasted much better than many of the wines I've tried from the LCBO, which for us always turn out to be hits or misses. Just being able to customize the sweetness of the wine was already a big plus for us. And the price is absolutely fantastic, around 1/3 the price of a bottle of wine outside. Also, not sure if it was just me, but the wine felt a little bit more potent/strong, which I liked because the batch lasted me longer than expected. I came back this time around and got the same great service, great pricing, and great wine. I didn't quite have enough normal sized bottles, so it was nice that bottles of other sizes still work with their corking machine! They have promotions of 40% or 50% off quite frequently on their website, so I know I'll be coming back as soon as I polish off my new batch of 30+ bottles. read more

Tip: Ask friends/family for their empties to use UNLESS you have that many bottles lying around. I came here through an intro offer for $14/14 bottles of wine! (I believe the deal was advertised on Facebook.) Try to find this kinda deal within Canada...simply can't be done. :) There were 2 stages for the wine making process: Yeast Drop (takes a minute, but has to be done by you as per some kinda bylaw) + the actual Wine Making/Bottling/Corking/Labelling. I did the second part today and on both visits, the staff were very relaxed and friendly! Heck, they were some of the happiest people that I've encountered in a workplace. :) Artem helped me out and he was very friendly and helpful. I wanted to sweeten my Merlot and he added the sweetening agent and let me taste it a couple of times, no problem! The only downside I see is that the wine isn't drinkable right away. It has to age approx. 4 months before you should open it up! I'd definitely go through this process again. read more

Goodbye LCBO! Hello Wine Butler! Have been bottling wine here for over 4 years, after first experimenting through a Groupon. Wine always turns out great ((International Pinot Noir & Malbec are current favourites). Staff are very helpful and will take you through bottling process quickly. They even help you carry your boxes out to your car. Very clean and efficient facility. Once you make a batch, they are terrific at sending you news about specials and discounts for future batches, which you can easily book online. Amazing value for the money and terrific wines. This time around we split the 28 bottles with another couple and paid $140 for 28 bottles including the bottles and cork. Fantastic &fun experience, customer service and quality from day 1. Employee was VERY helpful, friendly & knowledgeable. Chose Italian Barolo (international). Was hesitant about what homemade wine would taste like, but got to taste before bottling and the flavour (though young)was still very good. Process of sanitizing, bottling, corking, foiling was very easy. It was suggested to let wine stand upright for 1st wk & alllow 6- 9 mos for flavors to fully develop. Like many of the people writing reviews for The Wine Butler, my boyfriend and I got the groupon for 14 bottles of wine for $14. It is too good of a deal to pass. The process consists of two appointments. The first appointment takes just a few minutes. You just have to go to the Wine Butler location to drop yeast and start fermentation of the wine. A month or so later, you book your second appointment to bottle and label your wine. Wine bottles can be purchased for under $2/each or you can also bring your own bottles. Our wine is aging (they recommend you stand the wine for a week then let it sit horizontal for a few months or so. Letting it sit horizontal ensures the wine cork doesn't dry up) but my boyfriend and I recently had our first bottle after 3 months of aging. It was just as good as other Cabernet Sauvignons we've had! The wine tasted smooth and was very flavorful. The staff was so friendly and made our experience even better. They were always very accommodating and happy to answer our questions. I would highly recommend this place! read more

It's a 3 step process and it can take a while: Step 1: Fill bottles via a 4 tap machine (the employees usually help with this) Step 2: Cork with the help of a snazzy corking machine Step 3: Dress the bottle, neck and label. You get various colors and labels to choose from. Nothing too fancy. They do sell the fancier kind. Plus, if you are a designer, Wine Labels are easy and fun to make! Before Bottling: We tasted the 2 wines - Zinfandel and Riesling - to add sweetness. You'll skip this step if you're bottling a wine like Chardonnay which isn't usually sweet. I added a 2 pt sweetness to each; we were being cautious but it nearly isn't enough. Maybe it will be after aging, but not right now. The wines are good but still quite tart. After Bottling: The employees are so very helpful. Us girls couldn't have carried those bottles by ourselves to the car - trolley or not, there were a lot of bottles and our boxes and bags were super heavy. Ankie tip? Reuse old wine bottles if you can. Although $1 isn't a lot to pay for a bottle, it's better to recycle. Overall, thank you Wine Butler, for this unique experience. I had the same wonderful experience as Tamara P! I made 14.5 bottles of Italian Barolo, which are currently aging. I drank the half bottle prior to aging and, although it was just newly made, I was quite impressed with the quality. I ended up giving many bottles away to friends and I am excited to hear what they think once the aging process has been completed. Even though it was busy when I was bottling, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The guys even carried my wine out to my car for me. They also shared with me that they have over 3,000 customers in their database for both locations so a lot can be said by that. The only slight con I have is that the outside of the property is not properly lit so, in the winter months, it can be a bit challenging trying to see while carrying out wine. That being said, if you are bottling, I would suggest going during daylight times. Anyway, I plan to return soon (with my own cool labels) to make a batch of Late Harvest Riesling and possible some Shiraz. read more

Amazing deal plus great service and product! Get the Groupon for $39 that gets you 14 bottles of wine and you won't be disappointed. They have quite the selection of wines and the staff are super helpful throughout the process. The experience consists of 2 visits about 6 weeks apart. The first appointment literally takes 10 seconds where you drop a package of yeast into a jug to start the process. The second appointment is the fun part where you do the bottling, corking and labeling. You can bring your own bottles or purchase them on site for $1 each. Corks and labels are included but the labels are kind of ugly so you might want to consider bringing your own if you are concerned with the appearance. They have deals going on all the time, so the prices you see on the website aren't really the price. Will definitely be back! read more

I agree with many of the posts on how simple and easy the wine bottling experience was. However, I didn't spend my money on a fun time filling bottles of wine. I wanted 28 bottles of good-tasting wine. Inexpensive yes - but at least drinkable as well. I chose to go with one of my favourite red wines.. the Argentinian style Malbec. This is unlike any Malbec I've ever tasted. And, to be clear, that's not a good thing. It's weak and watery. I had my first small taste of it when I bottled the wine. I wasn't impressed but thought maybe it needed a bit of time. So I waited three months before opening my first bottle. It wasn't any better. I've given a few bottles away and actually feel bad doing so, offering a "tell me what you think" apology each time. So far I've had about 5 bottles myself, each time hoping for a better result, each time disappointed. It makes me not want to drink my wine with my dinner. So sad. I've also noticed that I actually get heart burn from drinking it (this happens with no other red wine i've ever had) so I need to stop having this wine completely. And that's prompted this review. If you want a fun, entertaining bottling night out with a couple of friends - go for it. Wine Butler is great for that. If you actually want to drink your wine, this is not your best option. Too bad I couldn't taste test a few options beforehand. read more
