This was the second time I made wine here. My first time I did the $39 for 14 bottle Groupon; the process was great - the online booking option and clear pricing on their website was a huge draw for me as many similar stores require phone calls/visits to get this info. I came, did the yeast drop, then a while later came back to bottle the wine, which took very little time. The staff were very friendly, explaining the process to us and gave us tips on how to bottle the wine properly. The facility is also very clean and spacious; we took our time to enjoy the bottling process and it turned out to be a pretty fun activity. There were 3+ stations, so we didn't feel rushed at all. Corks were included, and there were many labels to make the bottles look nice, which is great if you want to gift them away. I intended to drink all of mine myself but l still labeled all of them nicely, just in case I needed a last minute housewarming gift lol. The batch from our first visit was ready to drink in a couple months and tasted much better than many of the wines I've tried from the LCBO, which for us always turn out to be hits or misses. Just being able to customize the sweetness of the wine was already a big plus for us. And the price is absolutely fantastic, around 1/3 the price of a bottle of wine outside. Also, not sure if it was just me, but the wine felt a little bit more potent/strong, which I liked because the batch lasted me longer than expected. I came back this time around and got the same great service, great pricing, and great wine. I didn't quite have enough normal sized bottles, so it was nice that bottles of other sizes still work with their corking machine! They have promotions of 40% or 50% off quite frequently on their website, so I know I'll be coming back as soon as I polish off my new batch of 30+ bottles.

If you're a first-time client, look out for great intro rate of 14 bottles for $14!

Tip: Ask friends/family for their empties to use UNLESS you have that many bottles lying around. I came here through an intro offer for $14/14 bottles of wine! (I believe the deal was advertised on Facebook.) Try to find this kinda deal within Canada...simply can't be done. :) There were 2 stages for the wine making process: Yeast Drop (takes a minute, but has to be done by you as per some kinda bylaw) + the actual Wine Making/Bottling/Corking/Labelling. I did the second part today and on both visits, the staff were very relaxed and friendly! Heck, they were some of the happiest people that I've encountered in a workplace. :) Artem helped me out and he was very friendly and helpful. I wanted to sweeten my Merlot and he added the sweetening agent and let me taste it a couple of times, no problem! The only downside I see is that the wine isn't drinkable right away. It has to age approx. 4 months before you should open it up! I'd definitely go through this process again.

Goodbye LCBO! Hello Wine Butler! Have been bottling wine here for over 4 years, after first experimenting through a Groupon. Wine always turns out great ((International Pinot Noir & Malbec are current favourites). Staff are very helpful and will take you through bottling process quickly. They even help you carry your boxes out to your car. Very clean and efficient facility. Once you make a batch, they are terrific at sending you news about specials and discounts for future batches, which you can easily book online. Amazing value for the money and terrific wines. Will continue going as long as they are in business. *Note to newcomers-bring empty wine boxes from LCBO to help you transport and store your wine.

I can't believe how easy it is to make wine! And wine butler made it so fun. We got the $14 for 14 bottles of wine deal on groupon (wow) and we got to bottle it, put the cork in, put the foil on and melt it to the glass, and then pick labels and put them on the bottles! Literally one of the funnest experiences ever and i will definitely be going back.

I grabbed one of their beer flights for sampling, my favourite one was their Beardmore Kolsch Style Ale, it was light and refreshing as described, my kinda as I tend to lean towards lighter brews. The staff and owner were all very warm and hospitable, a spot I'd love to return to on my next visit to Georgetown!

Upstairs is a lounge where you can drink. We got the chance to check out the back and learn some about how beer is made and how the process leads to delicious tasting beer. When you're at the bar you can order a flight of 4 beers. I think this is the best deal to check out their great lineup of beers. The service was friendly and informative. I cannot count how many times, patiently, the sales rep explained what each beer was like and which were the favourites. The beer is absolutely delicious. I think we all typically associate craft beer with hoppy beer but this wasn't the case here. Everything was super smooth and delicious! Definitely a place I'll be checking out again and encourage others to check out! Unfortunately there's no kitchen here but there are snacks you can purchase, along with some swag. Of course, don't forget to check out Chicken Man!

Black Oak Brewery is one of the few local breweries in the Toronto area…read more It is not only a retail store where you can pick up some of their beers which are seasonal and not available in LCBO or beer stores. If you do ask nicely, you even get a private tour of the facilities and gets to taste a couple of beers!!! (5 to be exact!!) Summer Sasion and 10 Bitter Year are only available in the brewery as 6 Packs which I now have them in my fridge ready for a patio party! We also tasted some small batch IPA on tap only...and of course their usual Pale Ale and Nutty Brown Ale... Which one is my favourite? I think I need to sample them again to find out! When I say office though, it really is exactly like this because I think the front of house here (where you drink the beers) is basically a retrofitted office turned into a tasting room. The back of house, where the brewing and tours go on, it's deceivingly large and very clean. For me, I'm not a big fan of brewery tours because candidly once you've seen once, you've seen it all. I prefer to tour their beers by tasting them and Black Oak has no shortage of beers to try. A mix of their commercially available beers, seasonal draughts and little extras only available for purchase or tasting at the brewery. Good beer, good prices, and nice staff. Worth a visit

Spirit of York Distillery: An Enchanted Speakeasy Hidden in Plain Sight…read more There exists within the Distillery District a sanctuary so conspicuously underappreciated that it borders on the miraculous--a place that paradoxically announces its excellence through deliberate restraint, drawing a discerning few while the many pass unknowingly. Spirit of York Distillery is precisely such an establishment: a hidden gem not because it obscures itself, but because it permits only those with genuine appreciation to discover its treasures. Upon entering, one is transported to an earlier epoch--the speakeasy lounge aesthetic suffuses every corner with an intoxicating atmosphere of Prohibition-era elegance. The seating arrangements evoke intimate conversations conducted beneath the weight of historical resonance; the bar itself commands attention as a stage for ritualistic craftsmanship. Yet perhaps most mesmerizing is the large glass partition separating patron from machinery--a transparent threshold revealing the intricate dance of distillation itself. One watches spirits transform from raw material to refined essence, a metaphor rendered literal. The "Cocktail Jammiest Jam" arrived as a demonstration of precision: each ingredient orchestrated to achieve perfect equilibrium, neither demanding attention nor withdrawing into oblivion. It was, quite simply, perfection as executed. The Gin and Tonic transcended its humble categorization. What might elsewhere be dismissed as elementary proved itself exquisite in execution--the botanicals dancing in perfect proportion, the quinine providing architectural scaffolding rather than domination. More remarkably, one possesses agency here: the opportunity to compose your own gin and tonic according to personal preference transforms the experience from consumption into collaboration. Here emerges the essential truth of Spirit of York: the spirits themselves, while commendable, become secondary players in a production where theatrical excellence, bartending mastery, and service refinement command the stage. This is not a destination for spirits connoisseurs seeking to dissect distillation notes--though they would not be disappointed. Rather, it is a refuge for those seeking an experience that transcends the strictly gustatory: an atmosphere so carefully curated, bartenders so genuinely attentive, that the act of ordering a drink becomes secondary to the privilege of their counsel. Remarkably, despite its proximity to your residence and its undeniable merit, the establishment maintains a refreshing discretion in its clientele. Quieter than its reputation deserves, it functions as a personal sanctum--a venue perfectly suited to entertaining visiting friends, providing them entry to an experience they would otherwise overlook. The space even accommodates those seeking private events, serving as venue for occasions requiring sophistication. Spirit of York Distillery stands as testament to the proposition that true luxury often dwells in obscurity--not through inadequacy, but through an absence of self-promotion. This is where ambiance, expertise, and grace converge to form something rarer than any spirit: a genuine, unpretentious sanctuary in an increasingly performative world.
