We were coming down to Lake Charles for a friend's birthday. We were planning some drinking and gambling...we ended up just gambling. But, we did want to have some drinks set up just in case. We were looking for some basic liquor, but we forgot in LA, everywhere sells liquor. So this place had mainly wine and higher end liquor. I was able to snag up a bottle of Hibiki Harmony for 60+ tax. It is currently sold out all over town in Houston. They were also very nice and sent us to the gas station down the road which had a wide variety of the basic stuff. read more

My husband and I came here at the suggestion from another wine tasting we were at. We are SO glad that we did, we wish we would have found The Wine Store much sooner!!! Very cute atmosphere with plenty of cheeses, jams, beer, and wine related items as well as the wine. They have a smaller (but great) selection of wine, however will order pretty much anything you'd like. The Thursday wine tasting was great, we tried about 7 wines and you could buy or order them for a discounted price. The owner(?) ran out of 2 of our favorites Thursday so we couldn't buy them but we came back the next day and he still honored the discount. Definitely did not have to do that, and it was very much appreciated. Everyone was so friendly, from the employees to the patrons that we could tell were regulars. It's just very welcoming, you feel like the employees genuinely are happy that you are there and want to get to know you. It's a great feeling that will keep us coming back even though we live an hour away. We can't wait to come back and try a cheese board! read more

Great place, great selections, great people. From moderately priced to exorbitant, The Wine Store has it. The staff is knowledge in a relatable way, and they keep track of your purchases so you can come in later and say, " I really liked this Italian Pinot I got here for Christmas last year" and they can look it up for you. What's better than that? read more

Outstanding customer service and wine selection! It's about time we had a store like this is Lake Charles. So comfortable and inviting. Doesn't feel like a retail "liquor store". The owners are knowledgable and their passion for wine shows by what they have choosen to put on their shelves! Beautiful gift baskets. These are the kind of wines that make exceptional gifts! Not sure what you are looking for, just ask!! They offer wonderful suggestions. Prices are great too. read more

Probably won't go back, the staff rubbed me wrong and hocus pocus has a much larger selection.

I"ll take one 32 oz Long Island Ice Tea with a few extra shots and have the reply come back will that be all. Understand there is an open container law in Louisiana so they place a piece of tape over the straw hole but it's cheap tape so it's easy to remove. If you don't feel like a frozen drink..... I guess that's a feeling some may get? You can just order up some Jell-O shots it's perfectly legal and easy to access while your texting and driving not that I recommend or am a proponent of either. The service is friendly and the alcohol is reasonably priced so before you start out on that road trip this is a good place to stop, seriously it's meant to be taken home so be responsible and don't remove the tape it's just as easy to remove the lid I hear ;-) I like the concept and I think it's has a purpose so don't get all wound up and freak out, its a choice so you can just say no but I'm thinking most say yes or this business and a dozen more like it wouldn't exist.

Ryan was THE best choice for the General Manager. He is doing an excellent job with his staff and the ambiance of the restaurant. Our server, Gage, was a prime example and reflection of the care going into this place. Gage was so sweet and took very good care of us. Now for the food. Everything was so flavorful and worth every penny. The kitchen staff knows what they're doing, and they are killing the game. We started off with the pork belly bites and the shrimp toast for appetizers. That spicy aioli mixed with the chili glaze on the pork belly was top tier! The shrimp toast was perfectly crispy and delicious. The entrees were just as much of a slam dunk as the appetizers. I had the beer braised beef short rib with the mashed potatoes. Talk about melt in your mouth. The short rib was so tender that I was able to pull every single bite off the bone with my fork using very little effort. It was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH TENDER! My husband had the Tasso brined double cut pork chop with collard greens. The Demi-glace was absolutely delicious and the greens were well seasoned. My father-in-law had the wedge salad that he asked to spruce up with a few extra dressings, and they had no qualms meeting his requests. We were too stuffed to try dessert, but we will absolutely be back to try it another time. The pricing was very fair for the quality of food and atmosphere. All of the staff were super kind. You can definitely tell they enjoy their job and take pride in what they do. We can't recommend the lakefront location enough. It's definitely going to become a top favorite that we'll continue to frequent.
