Snacks include scotched eggs, cured meats, olives, the above mentioned tortilla, corn, pate, anchovies and all the things perfect to pick at with great wine. Vegos very much considered. Oh yeah and cheese. Obviously. There's a couple of outdoor spots to people watch and a number of four ish seaters inside. The bar is particularly good to sit at. I didn't think much of the exterior. It looked a little drab and didn't have the pizazz that I had seen on the website. However, looks can be deceiving and I was just looking forward to tasting these infamous cocktails! The Exhibit is a 3 level venue. The first floor has a bustling bar, the second is the restaurant and cocktail bar and the third hosts a cosy, plush little cinema (which I found pretty impressive). The cocktail bar is tucked-away neatly beside the restaurant. It's a gorgeous little room encased in deep, rich red paint and dark leather seating. This cocktail bar is called "The Crush Bar" and is like a little drinking den in The Exhibit. Their cocktail list is pretty impressive. I'm immediately drawn to the Japanese cocktail, purely based on the name as I'm intrigued to see if it actually *tastes* Japanese! Unfortunately, it's a little too strong for my liking although my friend seems to be lapping it up! I finally decide on the Abermarle Sour as my drink for the evening - light and fruity and doesn't taste alcoholic in the slightest (probably dangerous for me so I watch how much I drink!). The bartender was really friendly. He talked us through the menu and answered all our questions and we ended up having a nice chat about his band and folk music, a lovely surprise. I quite enjoyed my night at The Exhibit. It was busy and bustling but The Crush Bar was a little quieter; we were able to get a drink and a seat in relatively quiet surroundings as it's tucked away. This place didn't blow my mind, but if you are around Balham on a Friday night, this is definitely a good pit stop.

Step inside, and you could be forgiven for wondering what just happened. One minute you're wandering down a quiet back-road in Battersea, overlooked by council houses and the odd school. The next, you're in a low-lit room, a bar ahead of you lined with upside-down wine glasses, candles and fairy lights, wooden chairs and tables to your left and right and small, elegant plants against the walls, in between scores of 1930s vintage pictures. If you've arrived after 8pm, the live music will be playing. Usually gypsy jazz, but often other types of recognisably 1930s jazz too: A piano, some vocals, a woodwind instrument.. It's easy to imagine yourself as an extra in the English Patient or whatever your favourite film set in the 1930s is. The service is friendly and quick. The food is a mixture of French, central European and north African, and pretty good too. The wine, beer and spirits list is basic but good enough to accompany the food or quaff slowly whilst enjoying the music. QueCumbar's website quotes local press as saying this place would be perfect for a first date. I'd go further than that. If your girl/guy has a just a hint of a musical soul or a smidgen of interest in the 1930s/40s, I'd say that taking them to QueCumbar will firmly tilt things in your favour! If they're big fans of the era or jazz... best get planning that second date! It's cheap too. Arrive before 8pm and the music is free. After 8pm and it's just £5. Food is in the £10-£15 range and drink is the usual. Overall? Well worth checking out, whether you're into jazz, 1930s vintage, or want to go somewhere original and unique.

London's first small scale winery. Went on a wine tasting tour there to sample the selection of…read morewines and was very impressed by the quality. Very varied and some nice reds and chardonnay was particularly outstanding. Will be on the look out for their brands in restaurants.
