This will definitely be a regular dining spot for us when visiting the Chester area. That said, there was a lot less traffic in the area, so understandably, The Elegant Farmer had a limited menu so they don't end up with a lot of wasted food. We enjoyed the food and would have liked to sit outdoors, but the property next door had a huge bonfire going and it was very smoky. At first it was tolerable, but then the wind shifted and blew it towards us, so we ended up sitting indoors. This is not a negative review for the business, more so for our timing. We plan on coming back to Lassen Park to enjoy all the hiking once it opens back up in spring/summer, so we look forward to trying The Elegant Farmer again. It's a darling store/eatery, and the outdoor seating is charming. I recommend you try it out if you're in the area.

Inside, an Indian Jain wearing a baseball cap over his headgear is presiding over what must be California's largest collection of handmade bong pipes and roach holders. Almost hidden behind a lot of kitsch. But no olives. Over on one side a real human glassblower, doing his thing. Making animals, marbles, whatever anyone wants. And most probably the craftsman behind the drug paraphanelia. Good work. Not at all what I was expecting, but an adventure, indeed.
