Come to Casey and see the World's Largest Things. They're all over town and it's only a couple of miles off I-70 as you're passing between Terre Haute and Saint Louis. On the the big ones in the downtown core is this, the World's Largest Wind Chime. It is accessed through the patio area of what looks like a cute restaurant, Whitling Whimsy Cafe, which was closed on Sunday when I was here. In fact, most of the town was closed on Sunday. Still, the Things are accessible. The Wind Chime is certified by the Guinness Book of World Records and are 49 feet tall with the largest chime being 42 feet long. Going east or west on Interstate 70, take a pit stop in Casey IL. About a mile or so off the highway you'll find a small downtown with some of the worlds Largest things. Start off at the Worlds Largest WindChime. There is lots of parking in the street. Look across and you'll see the world largest rocking chair. Wishing you could sit on it, that was the only con. Both worlds largest have lots of area for selfies and photo taking. Locate the golf course less then a mile east and you'll see the worlds largest golf tee. On the other end of downtown is a big cage w swing, and a giant working mail box, but you have to go side to mail your postcard or letter. The town also had a lot of other worlds Largest items. If you're in Casey, or just driving down I-70 and need a stretch break, know that there is a place that meets your needs for either with the World's Largest Wind Chime. It's easy to find (exit towards the south, drive about a mile, then turn left onto Main Street, the Wind Chime will be on your right), parking is ample, and a cafe next door provides a great place to grab something to eat or drink if you need any refreshment. A free attraction. Great for families with kids. I was traveling thru Casey on a trip to see relatives in the area. I saw the sign advertising the wind chimes, but my 1st pass was at night. My next pass on the way home was during the day and I was able to find it very easily, just one block east of Central Avenue. I took a couple pictures, but they don't do the chimes justice. I visited on a calm, windless day. My first thought when seeing this gigantic display was what it would sound like when the wind was blowing, especially since it is sheltered from the prevailing winds by buildings on two sides. The engineer part of me says set it out in the open and let nature ring these chimes!! Located right next door to the Whitling Whimsy cafe, you shouldn't have any trouble finding the chime or the cafe. Town center is approximately one and a half miles south of I-70 exit 129, along IL-49. A couple other tourist attractions in Casey are the world's largest golf tee and the world's largest knitting needles and crochet hook. If you are a Guiness World Record fan, you can add three attractions to your list with just one visit to Casey. Now all they need is a large rocking chair to go along with the wind chimes. read more

We visited Casey, IL yesterday we had a great day visiting Casey. The world's largest Wind Chimes, Rocking Chair, Golf Tee, Pitch Fork and more. I was very nice to see the people that were visiting as well. Social distancing was observed yet we were able to see all the charming items in Casey. Learning the history of Casey while walking through the town seeing the sites. Pictures added are only about half of what we saw. We are looking forward to going back and spending a day when the COVID has gone and we can go inside the shops to look around and visit the coffee shops and ice cream shop. It truly is a trip back in time that we are looking forward to. read more

Located in downtown Casey, you will find the World's Largest Wind Chime, and yes it actually chimes. The wind chime is located in a small garden next to a gift shop, which is also home to the World's Largest Knitting Needle and a few other items claiming to be the world's largest. I didn't step into the gift shop so I cannot comment on that, but I did witness several people pull the chimes producing more of a gong than a chime. Located right across the street is the World's Largest Rocking Chair, so its easy to catch both roadside attractions in one quick stop, allowing you to stretch out your legs after a long drive. Overall this is a unique roadside attraction the helps give the small town of Casey a unique personality. A really neat little spot to check out. You can ring the chime yourself. The kids loved it. They have a very affordable shop that sells baked goods etc. You have to walk through the patio of it to get to the chime. It was very affordable and had some really neat décor. I believe the baked goods were homemade as the girls that were working were mixing up a storm! Our whole family enjoyed ourselves and we would go back for sure. My only thing would be is not one of the people that were working was friendly. No greeting when we walked in, no smiles or a thanks for stopping in when we were leaving. And we stayed for about 20 minutes eating and coloring the free coloring pages for kids. They were not rude by any means just not friendly. We also stopped at the largest golf tee just up the road. And the town will be getting the largest rocking chair too! We looked for the biggest crochet hook and needle? but couldn't find them. read more
