I did not expect the in house counselors who were very busy with an entire grade to really focus on one kid and it did feel like they had the school's best intentions as their priority; seeming to balancep percentages to certain schools and pushing the path of least resistance.. Our son came into this stressful process by word of mouth and the things he read, which seemed to be very much about the social atmosphere of various schools, which is important but there was a lot more to consider. Being 16+ he was bullheaded and as his parent I know nothing. Of course. So I interviewed a bunch of professionals. Catie was down to earth and knew so much about dozens of schools that I thought she was the best! After our first meeting I trusted her to work alone with our son so he would be free to really dig deep on what he wanted for himself. She helped him sort through his thinking about the college experience itself so social life would be in alignment with what he wanted educationally (small vs large college for example). It felt like there were too many videos to watch, too many areas to study and I felt overwhelmed and unmotivated. At 38 years old, the last math class I had taken was over 15 years ago, so it was a pain relearning all the math they test on Quant. Andrew broke down which areas were not tested as often and let the class know which topics to study on their own (due to class time restraints) if they were trying to score 320 and higher, which I very much appreciated. I only need a 290 for a program that requires that for admissions. The first GRE I took in August, 2025 was 279 (141V, 138Q) with practice tests ranging in the 270-280's. Today, I scored 294 (147V, 147Q), with practice tests ranging from 289-302. I studied 3-6 hours a day, 4-6 times a week (homework included) for two months to obtain this score, which I am very happy with. I'm sure I could have scored higher if I studied a bit more and did more homework. If you are thinking about taking their prep course, take the next step in making the investment because it is so worth it!!!

My daughter has been seeing Nancy for 4 years now. It has been the longest time my daughter has…read morebeen involved with an activity or had a teacher/ mentor, outside of the family! My daughter can be passionate about wanting to try something new, but then will lose interest quickly. Not the case with learning to play the violin with Nancy! Nancy was actually my daughter's third violin teacher, so yes, we do have other experiences to compare Nancy to, as far as being by far the best! Nancy has been so perfect for my daughter, finding the perfect balance between being fun and easy-going, (keeping my daughter's attention), yet at the same time, keeping her focused and challenged. And Nancy is so patient! My daughter has grown so much, both as a musician, and developing human, under Nancy's mentorship. We were so lucky to find her! I also loved that Nancy has String Flings, periodic "jam sessions" for the kids, which really developed a peer group and musical community for the kids. The shared love and support has been invaluable. We have also gotten a lot out of her field trips, labs, and other extras she always puts together to push her students a little further, while still having fun and making it interesting. Now my daughter is in the Pasadena Youth Orchestra, and Nancy guided her all the way through the audition process. She read over our emails and applications with all the requirements, and completely adapted her lessons around getting my daughter ready for the audition. She knows my daughter's strengths, but also knows her weaknesses - so knew where to push her. I don't think we could have gone through the process without her! Nancy's guidance gave her the confidence to show up, and try her best. Nancy has been so much more than just our "violin teacher," she has been a huge influence on my daughter just being a mentor/ role model/ advisor. If my daughter continues to play violin, I'm sure there will be many more violin teachers, music teachers, etc., but there will never be another Nancy!
