Just got back from an evening slow flow class, and I still have that post-yoga buzz. Part of it might be because I'm dehydrated -- I sweated a lot! Supposedly, the room is kept at 90 degrees, and I could feel all 90 degrees. I'm not used to practicing hot yoga, and I don't think it will be a daily part of my practice, but it's nice to know that The Yoga Studio offers such a nice space for hot yoga when the mood strikes me. The instructor, Rick, was great. It was my first time visiting, so we chatted outside of the yoga room about what to expect: In his class, he starts with a led Sun Salutation A, then lets you go on your own, then a led Sun Salutation B, then lets you go on your own. The second half of the class is a fully led practice, with lots of variety. The room is small, but apparently they can fit 25 people in it! My class only had 12, so there was plenty of room. The room itself is clean and dark, with a couple of salt lamps around. It's a quiet, contemplative space to practice. There are showers here, too, as well as a room for cycling. The people who work here are very welcoming! Like I said, it was my first time visiting, and I got nothing but love from everyone. I've tried this place twice now and found both experiences lacking. The most recent time I went the music was super loud and the instructor was very quiet, which made it super easy to get lost. Additionally there were several poses called out with different names than what I've encountered with other instructors at several different studios or while doing yoga at home with Apple Fitness. Lastly, we went through a flow once or twice and then the instructor pretty much said keep doing it on your own without any further instructions for a few minutes. I felt bad for the two new students next to me who kept looking over to me to check their form. If you enjoy a hot space and freedom to do whatever flow you'd like, then this place might be good for you, but I was not a fan. read more

This is my favorite yoga studio in Carmel. It was difficult at first as I feel that this is definitely a more advanced studio. My first class I went to a Vinyasa flow and it was hard and I got lost many times. But every instructor makes you feel so comfortable and make you aware that it is okay to not remember the whole flow and to just do your own thing if needed. I really like this studio because it challenges me - even the slow flow. Their hot room is dark and moody and really allows me to be present during my practice. I feel like I am getting so much stronger in my practice thanks to this studio. I look forward to class every weekend! read more

This review has been long overdue! I live in San Francisco but occasionally I am in Indiana, and whenever I am here, this is my favorite place to go :) I have been to many yoga studios throughout California and I actually think this is the best I have ever been to!!!!! All of the staff are honestly incredible. It's their: flow of practice, calming music selection, meditative mantras and soothing yet instructive presence to name a few. Not to mention their front desk/ management are wonderful at making you feel welcome and ready to practice. I even brought my boyfriend to the studio, who had never done yoga before, and he loved it as well. And I thought I didn't like hot yoga but now I'm obsessed. So from newbies to seasoned yogis, I couldn't recommend this place more! read more

Wobble. Sweat drip. Wobble. Go for the block - who are you kidding? You're going to need help on this one. Wobble. Giggle. Oh, yeah, don't forget to breath, Brittany. This is my general thought chain when in yoga. No joke - in almost every class I take (at every studio) the instructor tells me how tight my hips are. I have a feeling childbirth is going to be extra torturous... Any who, I appreciate an instructor who takes the time to correct me. There is no room for pride in a yoga class and my instructor at The Yoga Studio "got" this. The temperature of the hot yoga was just right - enough to drip like a wet rag but not so much that I lost concentration and will power. Note: this studio is located in the back of the InCycle spin studio at City Centre in Carmel. The space is extremely clean with shower rooms, hair ties, water, fresh juice and Betty Bars (try them!). read more

I had Been doing yoga for about 2 years before Covid and love it. Over a year, no classes. I decide to once again try Karen Fox's class hoping I won't be "called out" and critiqued like have been in the past! No such luck! Do not go to her class unless you are an expert or enjoy public ridicule! Go to any other class!!! read more

First off, this is definitely an advanced studio. Both times I've been I've felt like I got a very good workout in, leaving completely drenched in sweat- NOT from a "hot" yoga class! The first class I attended turned into "free flow" and was a little tough for someone not used to that style of teaching to keep up with, but I enjoyed it greatly and I would attend again. THe second class I went to was more structured. I felt the burn both times, I loved it! This is a great studio, very clean and the attendees of the classes are focused on their yoga and not on "showing off" or what have you that I have seen at some other studios. You can rent mats and towels there if you do not have them. The studio location is not the most convenient, with parking a ways away from the door, but not a big deal. read more

Being new to yoga and overweight, I was terrified to get started. Everyone at this studio is so kind and helpful. This is not yoga for wimps, but I will say I felt comfortable as a total beginner. I was shocked at how quickly I adapted and how much better I felt after only a few weeks. This is the best yoga studio in the area. Jump in! read more

Such a serenely dark and quiet space. The room is always sweltering hot so bring a change of clothes and be prepared to sweat. The slow flow class is probably the most popular with the 9:30am slot almost completely packed every day. They have a fairly large group of instructors so there are many great classes to choose from. They also have Simplicity Juices available for purchase. If you haven't tried one of these hydrating juiced waters you are missing out! Locally owned and produced with a variety of options that key in on rehydration, detoxation, and so much more. TYS has a couple showers for after class and a spacious vanity area to prep for back to work. Great display of yoga/spin clothing as they also have a spin studio in the same space. Ever once and a while you can hear the music from the spin space but it isn't too distracting. One of my favorite Carmel studios by far! read more

I do NOT work out. My friends and family know this. I lost nearly 70 lbs. two years ago and didn't do anything active to do that. I have since maintained but recently, a very good friend challenged me to a 40 days of fitness for Lent. I would not normally do this, but I resolved I would try new things this year and health is always on my "to do" list. In the last two weeks, I have tried pilates, hip hop, Zumba, working out at the Y, going for a jog on the treadmill, biking and nothing is "sticking". I'm staying with it b/c I am dedicated to my friend but thinking .....the countdown is on until I am not going to work out again for another year. I tried, right? Well -- that is just -- silly. And a thing of the past. Due to horrible weather this past Sunday, my Florida trip was canceled and I was invited to hot yoga by another great friend. I rolled my eyes but agreed to join her b/c she promised brunch after would be "earned". I love brunch. And now, I love hot yoga. Ohhhh how much do I love thee? Well, I signed up for 2 weeks of unlimited classes and in the last four days, I've gone to 5 classes and constantly looking for a time to squeeze in a class. Somehow I went from not having time to working out to spending 1 hour and 15 minutes a day at the hot yoga studio at the City Center and hoping to try the Broadripple location soon. Why do I love it? I don't know. I am not intimidated for one thing. I have taken 4 different teachers' classes at 4 different times and enjoyed all of them for different reasons. They challenge without pressuring you to get into a pose. Anytime I need to, I go to child or downward dog and the flow of the classes is really great. They move you through poses in a way that truly makes sense for me and my body and allow me to breathe through and go at my own pace. Each of their styles are VERY different. I really enjoy Audrey's low voice and kind hearted encouragement while really pushing you to get into the pose. Shannon's music kind of rocked my socks and I felt invigorated to return that SAME night to Jez's class (her last sadly) where she helps stretch you out at the end. Today I experienced Suzanne who got me into about 6 new poses I had not tried. She really challenged me and it was by far the most sweating I had done! Ultimately, I am not a "yogi" by any means especially prior to this (does 5 random classes count over the years?) but I never feel silly or pressured to do something I cannot do. I do not feel judged or hopeless. I feel totally the opposite. I feel challenged, enlightened, weightless sometimes and like I'm RIGHT where I'm supposed to be. I think they might pump some yoga crack in there! It's cool -- I'm all in. I plan to do the 30 days challenge after my 2 week unlimited classes end just for fun and b/c it's a great affordable option running through the end of April. I highly recommend giving it a try (and using my name if you feel compelled -- message me for my last name). I have not in any way been paid to write this review. I truly do not usually LOVE classes or want to return to anything, but the calmness and disconnectedness I feel from the fast pace of my every day life is truly gone inside this studio. I love that it is always so warm and cozy, there are NO mirrors anywhere in the room (or bathroom for that matter) AND it's dark in the hot room. Yes, dark. I love this aspect. It feels like you are almost entirely alone even when the room is full. Tips: -- come 15 minutes early so you can acclimate to the hot room. It is warm and at least 90 degrees so it's good to get in there and lay allowing your lungs to get used to it. -- leave your valuables locked out of sight in your car. The one thing I don't love is that there is no where to lock up your items. There are shelves and hangers but there is no security in place for your items. -- First class includes a complimentary mat/towel and it's $5 to rent theirs after. -- Do the unlimited classes for 2 weeks. Try out lots of classes and teachers. You will find something you like. -- Don't give up after your first class. If you are in the room and breathing (as Shannon said), you are doing yoga. -- Easy parking at the top of City Center behind Divvy. I also LOOOOOVE that this location is in my "zip code". It is less than 10 minutes from my house so convenience is KEY! There is a spinning studio in the same space. They also have a challenge going on. HAVE FUN! read more

This is a great small studio with a welcoming vibe. They have a water filter, nice clean bathrooms, and little extras. I love that the classes (all?) are in darkness which is peaceful for yoga and meditation. Parking is quite easy. Be ready to sweat, bring a mat, towel and water! so far I have enjoyed all the instructors. read more

Hooray! Happy place found. I had been looking for a good studio since moving from Denver and finally landed on one. Located between work and home, it is a great size, has a wonderfully dark and hot yoga room, showers but mostly importantly....working mom schedule classes! I visited The Yoga Studio while I was in Indianapolis for business. It was a great experience! I went to the Slow Flow class and loved the flow the teacher guided us through...it was challenging but very good! I also loved the music she played. Music is important to me so it was nice to hear a good mix of music during class. If I find myself back in Indianapolis again, I will definitely go back here for yoga! read more

I'm sure this place is great, but I want a yoga class with normal temperatures. I will try it out if they offer a class at 70 degrees!
