I joined Source Yoga over 8 years ago and have never looked back! They have a variety of class options -- everything from a relaxing yin class for a good stretch or a challenging warm flow. All classes are led by excellent instructors who are personable and offer great guidance for all levels of yoga experience. The new studio they've relocated to is spacious with great windows to view the woods behind it. If you're new to yoga, they have all the supplies you need - mats, blankets, knee pads, eye pillows, blocks and straps. I love experiencing different instructor's styles and scoping out different studios, so when my schedule allowed me to check out a class at Source Yoga w/my ClassPass membership for just 2 credits (many yoga classes range from 5-6 credits) I jumped at the chance! The space: -Source Yoga is in the heart of downtown Fishers across. You enter on the first level and immediately go upstairs to the loft/studio. -Parking is available easily in the lot adjacent to building or across the street in the new gigantic parking structure/restaurant/apartment complex. -This studio gets a LOT of natural light. If you're more of a dim-setting yogi you might opt for an evening or very early morning class. At noon, there was a lot of light coming in through the floor to ceiling glass windows on the second floor. -The space itself is a bit dated and has a artsy/granola vibe to it with a huge tree mural on the wall and painted green stairs. -The room we practiced in was spacious, clean, bright and open. The floor was a spotless hardwood. -Blocks, blankets, eye pillows, knee pads and straps are all available as well as mat cleaner. -Store your boots, coats & yoga bags on the coat racks outside the practice room or bring them in and place them in a cubby. -There is a restroom onsite that is large enough to change in if necessary. The instructor: -Brittany was pleasant and energetic. Her 60 minute lunchtime vinyasa class was challenging and fun. She offered modifications for all levels. -At the end of the class, during savasana Brittany offered cool washcloths infused w/rosemary and lavendar. I love experiencing different instructors special treats for their class. She came around and placed them on our heads (for those who wanted them). It was a nice touch! Because this studio is a bit off the beaten path for me (30 min away) I likely won't become a regular, but I did thoroughly enjoy my practice there and would return if my schedule allows! read more

I'm providing this update to get more of you yogis and yoginis out there to give Barb Manley's Saturday morning Basics class a try. Barb is a great, easy-to-follow instructor who begins her class with a nice stint of pranayama (breathing exercises) and centering moves based on the Tibetan rites. She gently guides students through a series of seated, reclining and standing poses that awaken, energize and calm. This may sound like a "walk in the park" yoga class, but hubby and I can attest to the fact that you will feel this class later....especially if you always stick to the fast-paced Vinyasa flow style classes. You will stretch and open in places you forgot you had! Two thumbs up in particular for Barb's yoga crunches...she really has a unique method for getting your body into the correct position to work that core without straining other body parts....like the usual victim: your neck. Barb also offers other services outside of Source, including Ayurvedic consultations and Healing Touch body work, life coaching and more. Her credentials speak for themselves: she was trained at the Chopra Center for Wellbeing and Ayurvedic Medicine and also worked there as an instructor for eight years. read more

I came here for a yoga class when I was on a business trip to Indianapolis and it was great! I took a Slow Flow yoga class with Vickie after work one evening. It was very relaxing and I felt like I got a good stretch after sitting on an airplane all morning. The class wasn't fast-paced or vigorous-- I definitely didn't work up a sweat, so that was appropriate for something called Slow Flow. It was moderately challenging though, and we did some strengthening exercises, so I got a decent workout. Vickie was very friendly and greeted me when I came in, and she told me about various class packages. It sounds like they have some good deals for new students! I couldn't take advantage of those because I don't know when I'll come back to Indy, but I'll definitely visit Source Yoga when I do. read more

I have been attending Source Yoga since February. I took a class from Janie, the owner, who then recommended me to one of her newer teachers, Statia. I have been hitting Statia's Tuesday class ever since. She is fun, spunky and really helps me to push to my greatest potential. I am feeling more fit every week and have found a lot of strength, flexibility and peace of mind through my yoga practice. This facility is wide open with plenty of space that feels very welcoming. The tree mural is really nice. Since the yoga area is open to the office and waiting area, remember to be very quiet when you come in before class and the previous class is still in session. It's REALLY easy to hear people talking in the waiting area. There is massage therapy at this location though I haven't tried it yet. The new addition of knee mats has made a big difference to my practice. I recommend this location for a good place to learn and practice yoga. There are many levels of classes and the instructors are very encouraging. Update 1-28-13: I have been attending Source Yoga almost a year now and every instructor I've had is wonderful. The variety of class levels allow me to practice as I see fit each week and people have noted a calmness in me that I believe is a result of my yoga practice. Definitely try Source Yoga. read more

I have been attending classes at Source Yoga for at least 6 years and I love it. It was last Saturday's class with Janie the owner that made me think I needed to post this. It was so fabulous. At the end of the hour and 15 minutes I felt rung out, restored, and as if I'd had the best massage ever! This is my best place in all of Indy. When I first moved to Indy (many years ago), I was on the hunt of a good yoga place that I can call my sanctuary. I've tried yoga a few times but never experienced that yoga ah huh moment until I was at Source Yoga. That ah huh moment? I was sweating, like I've run for half a mile sweat. Then at the end, I felt like I was floating out of class. It was an amazing experience. I learnt that breathing is a major part of yoga. Anyway, this is a great place, I love their location, right on top of a Thai/Japanese restaurant and right near I69. Don't worry, it doesn't smell like food. And best of all, the yogi instructors. They are all wonderful. Very helpful and educational. I really appreciate it that they come around and sometime adjust your pose. There are times I wasn't feeling it, but a slight change/movement make things better. Please check them out!!! read more

Upon arrival back to Indiana over the holidays, a friend told me about The Source Yoga center in Fishers. Having just relocated back and with a renewed last year of intense yoga learning/practice, I was anxiously seeking a yoga spot that was welcoming, full of good energy and with great yoga! My first time here was on the free Winter Solstice Sun Salutation celebration that was a pop in and join us, and pop out when you have had enough event. I didn't really nkow what to expect except a lot of sun salutations. After finally finding the little spot just across from the town centre, I climbed the stair well wondering what would await me at the top. Upon arrival, I simple signed myself in an stepped into the class that was a special effort to do 105 (I think) sun salutations with teachers taking turns and students coming and going. Not only did I get my fill of great yoga and got to see a variety of very friendly, authentic and true teachers, but I also was invited to chat away with other yogis during the breaks along with great healthy food. People were so friendly and welcoming it was a breath of fresh air. I was so happy with this place and so impressed they had offered a 'free' event like this, I purchased their 3 pass for $25 which is a great deal. The owner is lovely as are the instructors and of great importance to me is the genuinely friendly energy that surrounds the place and the practice for people of all levels. Although it is a bit of drive, I highly recommend this spot for those seeking what I would call and authentic mind and body yoga practice in sun filled space. read more

This yoga studio changed my life's path 8 years ago, and I keep going back for more of the good stuff every week. Janie is the owner and she is all about proper alignment which is important for obvious reasons but not so easy to monitor when you are moving around a lot through asanas. Barb is all about the breath and the release. It is clear that she trained at the Deepak Chopra center because her class flows just like the one I took there last week. I adore Barb and Janie and that's why I'm here every Monday and Saturday. Keep on rockin the yoga classes, ladies! read more

I've taken about 8 classes at Source Yoga over the last few months, and while some are better than others, they've all been kind of mediocre. All the classes listed on their schedule are "basics," so they don't designate different types of classes (vinyasa, yin, etc.). It seems like every single class I've taken there has been for beginners, and the instructors always seem to take the approach that everyone in the class is new to yoga. Since I'm not new to it, this is kind of irksome to me. The classes also aren't terribly challenging; there have been many times when I didn't even break a sweat and was in fact cold the entire time because my body never got the chance to warm up. The center does have a neat space with three big windows and a cool tree painted on the wall. But if you're looking for a physically challenging yoga class, this probably isn't the studio for you. read more
