the worst apartment EVER. appliances constantly break out of nowhere and the fact that you have to pay so much for an apartment that has TEMU appliances is straight robbery. also, if you're a student good luck getting any sleep on the weekdays, or weekends. the smoke alarm constantly goes off from 6AM until 6am the next day. It's 24 hours and constantly smells like weed, people are yelling and playing music so loudly you'll be able to hear the lyrics in your apartment. DO NOT LIVE HERE. if i could rate this place 0 stars i would. i am a current resident and let me tell you. this place charges way too much for practically a closet (why am i paying almost $1200 for a bedroom that doesn't even have a window?). rude staff. one of the pieces of gym equipment doesn't work and hasn't worked since i moved in. water pressure in the showers is not great. smells like weed a lot. the assistant manager CONSTANTLY moved me into apartments where the residents smoked, despite the fact that a) i told her that i have severe asthma!! and b) it is quite literally against the policies to smoke in the apartment. (one of the girls i live with literally had a smoking violation on her account when i moved in!) if you're a towson or morgan state student looking for housing, do not go here. read more

If I could give a zero-star review, I would, 1000 times. This place is a scam! They say "luxury" apartments, and everything in the apartment is cheap. Everything literally breaks so easily. I think they just do this so they can charge you for every little thing when you leave. Also, there is no way you should be paying this outrageous amount of money for a one-bedroom that is less than 400 sq ft! (I didn't know about the square feet until I moved in because they don't advertise at all, and now I know why.) And the studio one-bedroom is even worse! It is less than 350 square feet. Luxury, my ass! Because their one-bedroom is like a prison jail cell with how small it is and how low-quality the appliances are. In addition to their thin walls where everyone can hear you and can make noise complaints when everything is just so thin. THERE IS NO HOT WATER OR WORKING ICE MACHINE. Additionally, I cannot take my pet to the courtyard, even though it was permitted in the beginning of fall 2022, but then they changed it. The whole reason I liked the place was to enjoy the courtyard with my pet, and trust me, there was no trashing of the courtyard with the pets. It's like they restricted the area for no reason. To top it off, they recently lost a package of mine and just looked at me in the face and said, "We don't have it," as if the package wasn't delivered. It's like they didn't care at all. I didn't even get a "sorry" for the fact that they lost my package. Take your hard-earned money elsewhere because here, it is not worth it for a less than 400 sq ft one-bedroom apartment. To say I am disappointed in The York would be an understatement. I moved into The York during their opening weekend in August 2021 for my graduate program at Loyola. In my second year(October 2022), I informed management that my graduate program would be ending in December 2023, and I wanted to end my lease then. Management agreed to this early termination date, and I signed the lease. However, management did not reflect my decision, and the dates on the lease ran through July 2024. When I realized this on 12/1/2023, I called the office, and the manager, Gretchen(general manager), was rude and short, saying it was my fault and that I should've checked. Now, I am a recent grad student, not living in Town and having to pay for an apartment I can not afford. I begged their staff to work with me and wrote a letter to their lawyers asking for my lease to be terminated. What was my response? After waiting for weeks, I called Gretchen(general manager) yesterday, and she said they would not end my lease. DO NOT LIVE HERE GRAD STUDENTS OR UNDERGRADS. They claim this is luxury student living, but they do NOT CARE ABOUT THE STUDENTS. I have resided in York for two and a half years and am incredibly depressed over how I am being forced to keep my lease when I had communicated with management beforehand. read more

The apartments are pretty but they're awfully constructed. But they're pretty (the only upside) We have had issues from day 1 with appliances, safety, noise.... I was chased into my apartment by a drunk man that was let in by the front (I was panicking because a man was running after me and forgot to lock my door) and he followed me to my room. THANK GOD my boyfriend was there I thought I was actually going to die. When we forced him out of my apartment, we contacted security... I wanted a police report filed, I wanted to know if the man lived in the apartment and was going to try to attack me again. I pleaded with the front desk for weeks for something to be done, the acted like they didn't know, even though I had made multiple reports with them about the incident, multiple. When I finally spoke to the head manager lady, she was terribly mean. She disregarded everything I said and did not care that I could have been seriously hurt that night. If you want working appliances and maintenance that actually does anything I wouldn't recommend living here... (this was the old manager and they still refuse to take any responsibility for this incident) multiple times my roommate or I have put in a maintenance request and it has been completely disregarded and ignored. They will literally put in that it has been completed but not say anything to you or come to do anything. They just lie and hope that you forget or something. Most recently, my outlets have been sparking pretty badly and I believe its from poor wiring. That could EASILY start a fire... they completely ignored my maintenance request and said it was completed after doing nothing... cherry on top, it is so extremely loud, not in a fun college party way sometimes on the weekend. It is every night. and in the day... ALL DAY Monday-Friday there is construction starting around 6 am. There was clearly no effort to sound proof the outside of the building. If someone is having a conversation in the alley way you can hear it in your room. Same idea with the hallways and upstairs. My upstairs neighbors are nice people but I do not wanna hear them go to the bathroom or talk to their mom on the phone at 2 am... I mean if you want to party every day and get no school work done this might be the place. Also they advertise it to be student housing but be careful because they don't just have students living there. Also the building treats you as a child, all amenities are closed at 10pm, security would literally come and ask you to leave if you're in shared spaces after 10 pm... Insane, especially given the fact they were advertised as 24 hours. Also elevators are down on a daily basis, with no email warnings 90% of the time. Also because it's all disrespectful kids: -puke -beer cans /glass bottles -trash everywhere These are all very common occurrences at The York, to be fair they have a wonderful cleaning team, but if the management just stepped up and started fining people, even giving people warnings it would be significantly better. All the management does is lie. The kids working up front are sweet but they have no idea what they're doing... I had to leave my lease due to an issue with my roommate, it was not a fun process and the York made it even more stressful with their constant lies and ignoring me. They broke their lease and the law quite a few times but it fine because at least I'm out of there now. It's just not worth the money or the headache. read more

Their move in process was a bit of a mess (charged for parking during one hour move-in slot! Inadequate elevator service etc.), their phone system makes it nearly impossible reach a person, their online rental payment portal is poorly designed, and the billing system is equally poor. Many of the rooms do not have windows and I am paying a premium for a closet--which is a separate fee from my child's rent. Just make a single, total bill, please. Would not recommend. read more

Moved my daughter in last week for the start of her junior year at TU. Apartment was clean and beautiful and staff were very friendly.

I honestly could care less about name dropping because this place didn't give me the common courtesy of transparency and communication. I'm a towson student and I wasn't able to get housing because of issues with the campus. I applied to york got my apartments and my assigned roommates, which I was okay with at first. I liked my roommates and we were already on the same page on how we would be living together as the year goes. I met my roommates personally before my move-in day to get an understanding of who they are and I feel comfortable living with them. I'm usually someone who would like to get my own space and not have to deal with roommates but after meeting them, I gave the benefit of the doubt. Move-in Day comes in, which was August the 23rd, and I'm hit with a surprise. I already knew which floor and which room I would be staying on, but the moment I got there I seen my room number change, and I come to find out that I have completely different roommates. This all happened the day of and I wasn't given any notification. I talked to the property manager, Gretchen, and already she was very unreasonable. Wasn't empathetic of my situation and completely disregarded my concerns. I come to find out that there was a "top floor premium" which was an additional $20 to stay on the top floor, but I never seen that on the leasing contract. Gretchen the said, I wasn't even supposed to be placed on the top floor in the first place, which absolutely made no sense to me. When I asked Gretchen as to why I was changed around she told me that "it was to accommodate a request". Prior to move-in, I get a text from my roommate in the morning saying there is a new person moving in with us. We had an extra space because one person wasn't staying with us anymore, and decided to get a lease elsewhere. But I NEVER received an email from The York saying that my room assignment was changed and I'm living with new roommates. I didn't feel like being argumentative on move-in day hence the unprofessionalism. Speaking to the property manager felt like a dead end and I knew that I wouldn't get anywhere far by speaking to her. But this complex is very unprofessional and I would stay away. I'm not comfortable with the people i'm living with right now, and I want to get a room change ASAP. One thing that this place can do better is find a proper way of assigning tenants. It's not fair to be hit with surprises. This is the first of many red flags that I have yet to see. I never understood why I was approved for my apartment MONTHS ago, but I had to wait close to the start of my semester to move in. That's not how apartments work, and besides that, the room was ready. I was told that I'd have to pay an early move-in fee if I wanted to move in sooner, which I think is very idiotic. At your normal apartment complex, the moment the apartment is ready your keys are given to you. You are not told to wait for some days before moving everything in. To students, I recommend either staying on campus or moving to an ORGANIZED apartment complex, please spare yourself the headache, time and money and RUN away from this place. Until the get better property management, I would not look in the direction of The York. If my issues don't get resolved, I'll be requesting for a refund and stay in communication with a tenant lawyer. I have receipts in writing and video proof of every interaction. read more

I am actually SHOCKED by all the negative reviews. I lived at the York for two years, in a two bedroom. LOVED everything about it! We only had an issue with the washing machine once and they responded to our maintenance request immediately. Perhaps I was lucky but I really had no complaints. Ive never felt unsafe at all. Just don't hold the door open for anyone you don't know! Depending on your neighbors im sure the level of noise can vary. Again, not really an issue for me. I can see how people can have different experiences depending on roommates, neighbors etc. My experience was luckily great! read more

My daughter has lived here for 2 years and is signed up for a 3rd year. The building is secure, the parking is easy, and the rooms are well maintained. The management has improved in the last few months and the front office is secured. The maintenance has been responsive and we haven't had any significant issues in 2 years. read more
