OK, so I'm a drama queen, I love a bit of action going on around me. How pleased do you think I was when I heard this exciting new theatre was opening right on my doorstep!
I wasn't let down. I went to see Sweeney Todd on its opening night, I was totally blown away. (The tickets were a steal too!) My parents went to see The Fureys (they came home in tears!) , my niece went to see Peppa Pig (and we didn't hear the end of it for days!)
All in all, pretty good comments from anyone I've spoken to. It's great to see the council putting this building back in to use. So many other old buildings are falling to disarray that it's just so pleasing to see one being used for such a great purpose.
It's a perfectly sized auditorium ensuring an unspoilt view for all who attend (I'm quite short, and not being able to see in front is one of my pet peeves!) No problems here though I'm happy to report.
They also have a restaurant where you can book a pre-theatre meal.
This is available form 5:30pm - 7:30pm (last orders 6:30pm, on theatre nights only) it includes a two course meal plus 1/4 bottle of wine and it's only £13.95. Don't be expecting gourmet food, but it's nice as a wee treat. (To book call 028 9034 0022)
During the interval the bar staff will have your drinks ready and waiting for you (if you've ordered them that is) so you can take your time, relax a little around the tres chic sofas in the foyer. Also, the bar prices aren't bad either)
Compared to Ballyearl, which in my opinion was a bit if a flop, this modern new theatre will do a lot for the community and surrounding area. I'm pleased we've finally got a taste of more arts and culture in the area and I look forward to a variety of performances in the future. read more
