Do NOT use this group of providers. Not only did the office assistants send invoices to an address not even near me, they went and charged a huge amount without authorization, without speaking to me and then when I called copped a huge attitude because THEY messed up. The office manager even admitted on the phone that both invoices were returned to the practice, but did they call or email to get the correct mailing address or find out what the issue is? I do not simply send money without an invoice, especially as I need to verify everything with my insurance company. There are a ton of physical therapy offices in NYC, use any one of those other than this place. read more

I love my PT Ali!! I've been coming to her for about one full year for treatment for back pain post-op (microdiscectomy). Before surgery, I was a very active dancer, and was used to a lot of physical activity. My surgeon had said that I didn't need any PT, but a year out of surgery and I had daily pain that just didn't feel right. I dragged getting into PT, because in my previous experience, it didn't do anything for me. NOT SO with Ali! Right away after meeting her I felt like I could trust her expertise, no other PT has been able to help me so quickly. The other reviewers seemed to have trouble with the office staff, but my experience has been relatively trouble free in the insurance department. There was one mix-up that occurred within the first 5 months I was seeing her, but it was because of my own situation. Ali and the office staff helped me sort it out, and from then on, it was smooth sailing. It's true that most of the time Ali will be assisting other patients at the same time, but she's clearly mastered the "eyes at the back her my head" / "perfect internal clock" skills, because I've never felt neglected in a session. She keeps her attention well timed to the exercises she gives you, so you never really feel a lull. She'll always correct form before she leaves you to your own devices (but not really cause she's always watching), and if you have a question, you can always ask! I really like the energy that multiple patient sessions give. We always have such interesting chats with each other, and I even made a friend who came in on the same schedule as me! Best Physical Therapy ever! I've now gotten to the point where I can re-introduce myself to physical activity after a 3 year hiatus. As a dancer of 16 years, I could not be more grateful to have movement back in my life. read more

I'm undergoing treatment for a pesky sports injury that is RUINING MY MOOD!!!!! Luckily I was referred to TI for treatment and I am on the road to recovery because if I can't start running again soon, I am going to have a serious sense of humour failure *deep calming breaths* I am very pleased with the service and my injury is healing up nicely. I have had two therapists, Brian and Swarti, both of whom have been professional and friendly. They took time to explain the purpose of the exercises and how the exercises and stretches help you to get better, even going the extra mile to print out an article on my injury, so I could better understand what caused it and how long it would take to heal. Sometimes they seem a little overbooked and busy and I have had to wait a bit, but otherwise an all round good experience! read more

This place isn't for me. I went here for a month before moving on. This was my third PT, all for different injuries. My first moved to California, my insurance dropped the office where my second one worked, and this one is geographically convenient. In my consult, I made it clear that I had this injury before in the other foot, and I talked about the treatment that helped heal it the first time. I also made it clear that I do Crossfit, which is a very aggressive workout program, widely regarded as reckless and dangerous. I've been doing it for 2 years and I love it, but this injury was from running, not from Crossfit. I felt like the treatment I received was what is "normally done for people who get this injury," not what should be done for my version of this injury. Asking me to do 3 sets of 10 squats when I did 250 at the gym that morning, or I did 20 with 130 pounds on my back, seems... ridiculous. It also seemed weird that the treatment selected for my foot was not the one that worked previously when I had an injury on my other foot. We did try that successful treatment after walking became more painful from the new treatment. But at that point, I was already annoyed about having new and sharper foot pains from the session I had just before leaving for vacation. I really hated the treatment selected (not the exercises), as it would leave my eyes watering from pain and my leg covered in bruises, which was really unfortunate for the last 4 weeks of the summer. I also would have appreciated some warning that this was something that could happen. But when I went back with the bruises, we didn't treat that area again. I go to the gym 3-5 times a week and I lift heavy weights and I do intense workouts. I need my PT to consider that in the package of helping me heal. I think this place would be great for you if you enjoy light lifting for lots of reps or cardio, machines or yoga. Or if you're sedentary. The people are nice. read more

I've been coming here for PT for about 4 months now. Brian Lau is a great physical therapist with a lot of knowledge. He got me running again despite the torn ligaments in my ankle. The reason for the 2 star rating is strictly due to management who runs this place. They absolutely do not understand their patients. They charge a $50 fee for cancelling an appointment despite how sick you are or what the weather is like outside. It's like they're robots and have no empathy. Despite not completing my PT program, I will be looking elsewhere for PT so I don't have to experience the stress of these mandatory PT appointments. For anyone that has to come to Therapeutic Inspirations due to location, convenience, etc I would highly recommend you request Brian as your PT. Other than that, if you can avoid this place, I definitely would. read more

Billing department has given me the same bill on 4 separate occasions. I payed the bill in May. I am still getting bills in September. This is a form of extortion. Not to mention their physical therapy is pretty bare-bones. Not much attention is given to the individual patient, and their equipment was near none. On top of that, the physical therapist was frequently late, and sometimes did not show. I do not know what I paid for. But I pray that someone else reads my review and assists me in shutting this business down. read more

READER- BEWARE: This office is THE perfect example of something run like a greedy, relentless business, and NOT a "patient-centric" system like its site claims. First off, what I'm about to write is not a reflection of my actual practitioner in any way- Dr. Brian L. is an incredible professional, and he treated me very well. I only wish the same could be said of his administrative and management team. Their hyper-aggressive appointment scheduling tactics amount to borderline harassment. As soon as you're done with your days' PT work, see what happens if you immediately schedule your next follow-up at the front desk... I guarantee you, there will be at least 3 phone calls at the worst times, followed by text. It doesn't matter if you ask front desk to hold off on these, and that you'll schedule your next when ready- they will simply smile and say "Of course, I'll make sure we take note of that" which is a COMPLETE lie, because you'll definitely hear from someone else (for me, it was always "Emani"). There are highly qualified practitioners here, but my only hope is they find a future with an office that's actually learned a thing or two about client relationships and administrative operations. Believe it or not, they can co-exist without being overly invasive. Oh, and they basically scheduled an appointment for me without my final confirmation over text. And I was looking at a cancellation fee if I didn't show up to something I didn't fully agree to. Yikes. read more

I came here for a couple of months after ignoring a bad ankle sprain that took way too long to heel. After finally being reasonable I spoke with my podiatrist who recommended that I do PT to help the recovery process. I worked with Erwin who is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and was patient with me. He helped my muscles "re-learn" how to move naturally. He was always ready and I never had to wait more than a a couple of minutes to start my session. I was very pleased with Erwin and the rest of the staff at TI. They were all kind and welcoming and I'd recommend them to anyone that needs PT. read more

I've been going to Therapeutic Inspirations off and on for about a year now and actually look forward to my physical therapy sessions! Ali, one of the owners, is my therapist. As someone else has written, she does take an interest in you as a person and really cares about making you feel better. It's easy for me to schedule appointments first thing in the morning so I can get there before work. Everyone in the office is super nice. I have only good things to say. No no no no no no no! My first visit was okay (Liz?). My second visit, I was hurt so badly that I had to call out sick from work the next day. I felt like the guy (Andy?) really didn't care. He was so lackadaisical and was treating me and another patient in another room simultaneously so he would give me exercises to do without even watching! When he came back, he did something that severely hurt my back and I screamed. He didn't even attempt to do anything about it. Then I went in on a Saturday and met with Ali who I found to be quite abrasive and didn't really listen to all my details. She just simply read the notes from my last two sessions. Now this lady was treating TWO other patients in different rooms simultaneously and I probably spent 10mins collectively with the short intervals over the course of my one hour session, it was horrible. Again, she would give me exercises to do without watching me to make sure I was doing them right since she had other patients to attend to. This place is very outdated. They have all the basic equipment, but things don't exactly look clean or inviting. In fact, when you walk in you immediately notice that the sign with their logo above the front desk is a straight up foam board! I can't figure out why people like this place? Is it because they've never been to a real PT place? No Bueno. read more

wow, what a disaster this place is. I went to the office on 32nd st. Although Brian, my PT was knowledgable and super nice, the inhibitions of the practice does not allow him to practice at his full potential. first of all, it is like the korean nail salons of physical therapy, you are forced to see the PT at the same time as 2-3 other patients, so you don't get one on one care. For inexperienced people this can be tragic because most people may think their form in executing the exercises are correct meanwhile they are not. so basically you are wasting your time. You need someone to watch you to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly or else you are not getting therapy. also, i was charged 2 times for one session and when i spoke to the office manager about this she was REALLY unprofessisonal and cut me off and gave me attitude. Ok first of all, where does she get this audacity from when it was one of her staff members that made the mistake to begin with. There are plenty of PT offices out there and i would not waste my time if i were you. This practice obviously has proven to me that they do not care what so ever about my well being but rather my money and my insurance's money instead. DO NOT GO HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT! The receptionist was very nice but the place is run down and looks like not equipped with the latest machines. If you have insurance, go somewhere else. What a horrible place to be. My doctor gave me a list of the therapist in which this was also listed. I choose this because it was closer to my work. My therapist Ms. Sui was ok and look professional. But the manager and front desk people were rude and only wanted cancellation fee. One time, I was 15 minutes late, I called them to notify this situation, they said, it is late today and we will re-schedule you for tomorrow. I asked them if I have any cancellation fee. They said no. I went today, the very first thing they say to me is, you owe $50 for cancellation. I explained that the reason, the manager was not ready to listen. she said that I have to pay this amount. They are money minded, awful sevise and behaviour. NO-NO-NO-NO-NO. I don't recommend anybody to go therer. It was waste of my time. DO not waste your time and money. read more

I treated with Ali last summer for an ankle injury. This place is great! The service I received was much more than I expected. Ali is very attentive and runs a great business. She makes sure to take an interest you as a person which makes the whole process so much easier. I've been working with Brian C. for a few weeks now on a rotator cuff issue, and could not recommend him more highly. While he's technically really good at what he does -- he obviously knows his stuff -- I am equally impressed by (and appreciative of) his attentiveness, level of engagement, support, etc. He knows just how far to push when you struggle with the exercises and is genuinely concerned in tracking your progress. He's friendly and patient even when correcting you for the 100th time about the same wrong move you're doing. Most of all, he's effective. I'm amazed at how much better my mobility and strength are today vs. when I started. Recommend him highly!! read more

I have had limited experience doing physical therapy but when I herniated two discs in my back I had no choice but to do more than sit on the couch and hope it would feel better. I have been working with Bryan, Brian and Irwin and after only a few weeks of doing sessions I feel 100% better. Instead of being miserable and depressed at work, unable to sit in my chair and not able to walk more than a few blocks without discomfort, I actually feel better than before the injury. The guys keep the atmosphere loose and light while keeping you focused and constantly evaluating your body and your injury to tailor the therapeutic exercises for your problem. They are truly concerned with "fixing" you and will try different treatments to fix a particular problem you are having that day as well as give more general exercises to stabilize your injury. I am really grateful to these guys who are professionals in every sense. read more

A surgeon's eyes lit up with dollar signs when he saw my limited right arm/shoulder range of motion, but thanks to Ali's PT, no surgery needed and I'm almost back to full use of my dominant side! Phew! My husband is likewise avoiding foot tendon surgery thru PT here, and she had worked her magic with both my adult kids with knee and wrist injuries. I was skeptical but now am a 100% convert. I've been going to Therapeutic Inspirations on and off for over 10 years, for treatment of various different issues that have ailed me over time. The list has included, from time to time, plantar fascitis, chondromalacia, ankle pain, Morton's neuroma, and a broken finger. (No, I didn't have these all at once -- thankfully.) In each case, Ali was my PT person and she was knowledgeable, thorough, and cured what ailed me. She is also a genuinely nice person. Not only is she friendly and pleasant throughout her own physical therapy work, she has also been willing to go above and beyond for me, as the following story illustrates. The short version of the story is that when my orthopedist's office dropped the ball during his vacation, Ali was prepared to step in and have my MRI results (shoulder fracture) looked at by an orthopedist she knows so that I could get an opinion about the significance of the results before my own doctor returned from vacation. The longer version of the story is that earlier this week, I fell and yesterday I got an x-ray and MRI of my shoulder. The xray was done at my orthopedist's s office and the doctor didn't see any injury, but referred me for the MRI just to be sure. He then left on vacation before I had the MRI. My follow-up appointment with him is next Thursday, after he gets back from vacation. I had the MRI test done last night and received the report this morning from the radiology office -- which indicated that I had a fractured shoulder among other things. When I called the orthopedist's office to see if I could talk to a covering doctor and find out if I should do something before next week in response to the finding of a broken bone, the staffer I initially talked with was dismissive. She said there was no covering doctor and basically said I was on my own to call some other doctor to see what I should do and she gave me the names and numbers for four doctors but said she had no idea if they took my insurance. I called back the orthopedist's office a little while later and got a more sympathetic staffer who agreed to try to reach out to my doctor during his vacation, but time passed, the office closed, and no one contacted me. While I was trying to figure out how to proceed, it occurred to me to call Ali who immediately offered to have an orthopedist she knew take a look at my MRI report and tell me what he thought of it. And she even was prepared to arrange to have a doctor look at the data CD from my MRI tomorrow morning to assess the results more thoroughly. As it turned out, I didn't need to follow up through Ali because the second staffer I talked with at my own orthopedist's office did ultimately reach my orthopedist who just called me tonight from his vacation and told me what I needed to know.. The bottom line as far as Ali goes is that there isn't anyone I'd rather see for PT and she's a great person too.. read more

I simply called yesterday and spoke to a woman name Gladys. I explained that I was a back seat passenger involved in a car accident. She asked if someone contacted me I told her someone from State Farm by the name of Jennifer called me and left a claim number on voicemail. I was informed by lawyers not to speak to the insurance companies. I explained showily that I was the passenger and she only requested my information. The rep told me she will call me back. I called today since she never called me back and she told me that geico does not have my information. I told her to please let me explain the situation again because clearly she did not listen to the fact that I said I was the back seat passenger and that I wasn't the driver. She then placed me on hold and got the office manager. As soon as the office manager got on the phone she was very hostile towards me. I asked her to just please listen to me so I can explain the situation but instead she continued to dismiss and accused me of arguing with her. I told her I'm not arguing but no one is allowing me to explain the situation. She then told me that she doesn't want me to come here and hung up the phone. I'm a manager at my workplace and my job as a manager is to smooth out situations when things are bad not to escalate it. For a location in midtown manhattan I must I say I'm highly disappointed on the level of the service here. I literally got into a bad accident on 10/22/2017 and is experiencing a lot of pain. The office manager and the woman Gladys is the rudest individuals I've ever came across. Also I will be sharing my experience on Yelp and several social media sites. I'm so disappointed that my Lawyers would even recommend an establishment that will tolerate employees talking to patients in that manner. read more

Aside from the great service provided by Gaby and Glenda my PT is the best therapist in the world :) My only complaint is that I can't afford to see her more than twice a week. I echo what previous posters have written. A few years ago, I saw Dr. Michael Neely at NY Sports Medicine (which has since been acquired). I tracked him down through NYU Langone's website, which directed me to call the number for Therapeutic Inspirations to make an appointment. Five calls later, I still have been unable to schedule an appointment. On the first three occasions, I was told his secretary would call me back (never happened). This morning I called again and was told that it was escalated to the office manager and that I would be contacted shortly. Again, not receiving any communication back from them, I call this afternoon and asked to speak to the office manager directly. The office manager (I believe her name was Jeanette) got on the phone and very rudely asked me what the issue was. I explained that I had been trying to make an appointment for several days now, and she cut me off that "they had my message and were working on it". When i reminded her I had called 5 times, she told me "they had all 5 messages" and that "it didn't do any good for me to keep calling". Clearly they aren't looking to add new patients or to keep the ones they have. No stranger to the frustrating world of dealing with incompetently run doctors' offices in New York, this is honestly a new low. Dr. Neely was excellent when I went to him previously, but not good enough to make it worthwhile putting up with this nonsense. read more

Recently returned here for multiple rehab sessions on a back injury (had been there a few years back for an unrelated foot injury). Reception staff is very helpful and friendly. Place is clean. PT's are knowledgable and very helpful in instruction as well as developing a home exercise protocol that continues to make a world of difference in pain management & relief. The PT Erwin was also very good with helping me retrain the mind body on awareness of posture and movement. read more

Ali is a blessing! I have been in and out of physical therapy for 20+ years for my back and have multiple overlapping conditions that often confuse less experienced physical therapists. When I first found her, through a doctor, I had gone through about a dozen pts on my new insurance (even brutally expensive ones who refuse to take insurance) who could not figure out how to help me. Ali was unconcerned with my history, she was careful and methodical, and ultimately figured out how to reverse my problem. She handles 5 patients at a time, but somehow manages to hold a running contiguous conversation with them all, not only keeping track of their life stories but their complex therapy status. She is amazing, and so down to earth. Genuinely funny. A total gem. read more

a whole big mix up with scheduling my appointment. the office is very disorganized and apparently doesnt have the system updated with accurate appt information. they called me last minute to tell me dr malkin wouldnt be able to see but i could see another dr at another location at the same appt time and i agreed. i show up and they dont even have me in the system for the same appt me time. had me waiting for a long time to see the other dr because they had me in their system for a later time and no one told me. they need to get it together. dr malkin apologizes and tries to make amends for the mess by saying my copay will be waived so i dont pay it. then i get a bill in the mail for it. very conniving. will never deal with again. do not trust this office. they will lie to you. read more
