We have greatly enjoyed having a consistent pediatric Dentist (and staff!) for the 6 years we have been patients.

We have never had a bad experience until yesterday. Last week we went in for a routine cleaning and checkup. Once again, they had new staff working in the office area and it was another new lady doing his cleaning (seems like they go through staff quite often). This time was different, he had never had any cavities prior to this appointment. They told us that they had found 3 cavities and that they wanted to do a preventive kind of filling (SDF), which we were totally okay with moving forward so we scheduled the appointment for the following week (which brings me back to yesterday). When we went in, the lady at the front desk asked us once again if we were ok with moving forward with the treatment, which I confirmed (again). She then handed me the tablet and asked me to view and sign a form. Something told me to really read that form and I'm glad I did. I read the top portions then scrolled down, went to sign and just barely glanced up a bit more to see that they had marked down 5 teeth. When I went to the counter to ask, she confirmed that there were 5 cavities. I then proceeded to tell her that last week there were only 3 and I was confused as to why their paperwork says 5. Then out of no where, a random lady with an attitude problem popped out from the cubby in the corner and told me that she will have the doctor sit down with us in a room before we continue any further, which I agreed. Now usually I have a big attitude problem, but I really kept my cool the whole time I was there. We were called back within 2 minutes and she proceeded to take us back to a closed room that we have never been in before. The doctor came in and told me is going to take another look into his mouth and asked his staff to pull up the picture of his teeth. He then proceeded to tell me he does have 5 cavities and that maybe we didn't hear it right last week. But I would have remembered because he specifically told me it was 3 of his molars, not it's all 4 molars and 1 in the side. I then told him I was not comfortable at the moment with what was going on. He then got up and changed his attitude real quick, told me that was fine, we will cancel today and I can find a new dentist for all further appointments going forward. He then turned his back to me and closed out all the pictures and records on the computer. I then agreed with him because why the hell would I want to bring him to a place where we can't trust. I did cancel all appointments moving forward and I encourage everyone else to do the same!!! After we left, I felt so gross and I knew I needed to do something. I usually don't do this type of thing but I feel the public needs to know how they run their business. It's not right.

Without any other complaint, this would be enough to never enter this establishment again. Absolute negligence and dental malpractice from both the dentist, Dr. Mugatash (Jacobson Dental Corp) and Children's Choice (Yuba City) as a whole. They should not be trusted with children. How do you take a pano X-ray and file it under the wrong patient? How can a doctor and an assistant both look at a pano multiple times, even complimenting the clarity of it, and not realize before changing a treatment plan and operating on a child's mouth that the teeth on the screen don't match or look like the teeth in the patient's mouth? My daughter experienced unnecessary pain and trauma due to the mistakes made in her chart and by Dr. Mugatash, the assistant (Sarb), and other staff at the location in Yuba City. When checking out yesterday, a front desk staff member, Kristen (sp?), scoffed at me and was argumentative and rude multiple times; denying this mistake ever happened. She withheld my bank card from me when I asked for it back at check out. She cancelled my future appointments without informing me. I asked to speak to the doctor and assistant multiple times and I was told Sarb was on break and the doctor had no time for me as he was busy with other patients. I have been coming to this dental office for 10-15 years and there have been multiple times I've checked in with my kids and we've sat in the office for more than 20 min. waiting to be called back for treatment. Other times we've been called back but the entire cleaning/xray procedure took over an hour to complete for one child. The building itself is awful... peeling paint... broken electronics everywhere... the only reason I've stayed as long as I have is the convenience of being to have all my kids done simultaneously.. after the treatment of my daughter yesterday it is not worth it.

This entire chain is extremely unorganized and they don't communicate necessary information before you arrive. I drove over 3 hours to this location for a root canal, because I really like the endodontist and I felt like she did a really good job on my previous root canals. For this visit, it was supposed to be covered by medi-cal. I went to check in after driving for 3 hours, and they told me that they couldn't see me unless I made a $1300 payment on my previous balance. But when I called the office a month prior to set up a payment arrangement that worked for me (I was able to pay $200 a month, not $400 a month), the rep I spoke to was trying to pressure me to pay off the entire $5,000 balance - which I could not do. He was pressuring me so much that I felt like I was being interrogated by a detective, so I hung up on him. Before driving 3 hours for this appointment, I spoke to the staff on 3 separate occasions to confirm the appointment and not once did they say that I'd have to pay $1300 to be seen (even though Medi-cal authorized to pay for this treatment.) I won't be coming back here.
