I was summoned for jury duty here, and had the honor of being actually chosen for a jury. The place seemed very clean, and all of the staff were friendly. The security even had a sense of humor and made sure to get everyone inside as quickly as possible. Having been to the Maywood court house in the past, I am pleased to say this court house is light years better, and likely the best place to go for jury duty in Cook County. If you are summoned here for jury duty, know that if it is early in the week, there is a very good chance you will be called in and interviewed. Regardless, it would be wise to prepare to be there all day, and bring a book or magazine to read, or a laptop. They do have two televisions for people in the waiting area (for those not called in). If you are called in, expect to be sitting for a very long time, and unable to do anything but wait to be interviewed, and listen to the interviews of others. read more

This courthouse is the worse courthouse ever | was trying to ask for a continuance Because the judge before her did not tell me what class I was approved for, and when I went in person to pick up the paper, only thing it had was the way to schedule the class and phone number | called the people on the paper. They said that I would need my ticket number and the class that a judge approved me for and yes, I did have two months, but y'all didn't give me all the stuff I needed I'm 17 years old plus I have a special learning, disability, reading and writing she was so rude wouldn't even let me speak. I was up on zoom at 8:30. Something was happening with the zoom so when | logged back on at 10, it finally showed me a different court ID number in password so 1 use that and I even called up to the courthouse before that. She made me wait all the time so she can take me. In had the nerve to be so mean but anyways, they gave me six months supervision without any moving violations and I have to pay them$354 that is crazy read more

I'd give it zero stars if it was an option the employees at the clerks office won't answer the phon. They don't even speak English well or spanish.They don't try to help at all , I called 16 times today and it had to be the same person but they kept hanging up on me. I'm very disappointed because I'm trying to figure out my court date and they won't help me if I get a warrant it's because they wouldn't help me. I stopped there today (3/24/2014 around 11am) at room 121 civil just to get a simple divorce document. The two women working the help desk were extremely rude and unhelpful. I kept asking for help with a computer they sent me over to, they wanted me to look up my case # myself.. Isn't that what they are there for?? They were very annoyed, gave me attitude, and were too busy talking with each other about the last guy that yelled at them. I can clearly see why. These two are completely incompetent. I walked out. I will order it myself online. This is why government workers get a bad reputation. read more

It took three days to file a Civil Lawsuit, no thanks to the ridiculously inept employees who work in this department. Day 1. I waited in line and received a packet to fill out. I look over it. I have questions about how to fill it out properly. The Hindu Indian lady "assisting" me is vague with her answers. She tells me to take a class down the hall. HUH? She informs me to come back with the wrong number of copies they require with the original paperwork (I don't know this at the time, read on). Day 2. I return with the original and 3 copies. The Asian looking Hispanic looks over the paperwork. She instructs me to make corrections. She hands me a telephone number. I'm told to call it. I need to, in order to file she says, without any further explanation. I step aside to finish the paperwork; I call the number. I ask the man on the line what the call is regarding and he's just as confused as I am. I don't understand what he says so I go back to the counter and I ask for further assistance She is curt. She is rude. She picks up her mobile and replies to a personal text message. Impatient and angry now, I blast her about doing this on company time. The converaton becomes heated and I realize that my anger management medication isn't working. It turns out, you cannot list a business name as a Plaintiff. You call the number you're provided by the Clerk for the name and address of the Proprietor, as its listed in public records. Be advised, you may receive the home address instead of the business'. Day 3. I return with a checkbook, original document and three copies. I'm told I needed to make 6 copies and to make them elsewhere. They do not allow you to use theirs even though our tax dollars funded their copy machine. Fortunately, my Sister lives nearby and she has a home office... I'm finally allowed to pay my court fees and turn in my papers. I've experienced better: Over the years, I've been to this courthouse to face a Judge for traffic violations. My experience has always been positive despite the circumstances and outcomes of the Judge's decision. I've never been mistreated by the Cashier when paying for my fines. My only complaint for this department would be how slow the line moves to pay. I go to court to face a Judge in my Civil Lawsuit on March 9, 2012 with fingers crossed. read more

I've been to this courthouse for varies reasons over the years. None of them major just your routine property tax matters, records retrieval, etc. Every office I've worked with at this location has done their job fine. No one experience stands out to me as wonderful/outstanding or for that matter horrible and acceptable. It's your run of the mill courthouse and each office within it, as I stated before, does their job just fine. read more

I came with a buddy when he needed to appear as a witness in traffic court. If they're serious about keeping cameras out of the courthouse, the security staff need to be better trained on recognizing that most cell phones have cameras these days. The judge, though was fine, moving through cases quickly and fairly efficiently. Some lessons I learned from watching the proceedings: * Don't interrupt the judge, especially when he's cutting you a break * Don't hire a sleazy lawyer to try beating a minor citation--you'll just piss everyone off * Don't say "I don't want to argue with you, judge, but..." and then proceed to dispute what he said * If a cop leaves the courtroom right after your case, follow him out so the losing aforementioned lawyer can't ambush you in the hallway * Don't accept any advice about law from the clerks--if you show up in the courtroom in front of the judge, you're going to get stuck with a minimum of $110 in court fees even if the clerk told you to direct your question to the judge. read more

Unbelievably bad service. I have been on hold for 45 minutes on two different phones and still no response. I called yesterday at 3:30 and they just kept hanging up when it got to my turn until 4:30 when they closed. I have a very simple question which I obviously can not get answered now because of these good for nothing awful unprofessional employees who don't know what the hell they are doing. I was in this courthouse on 11/19/14 to file divorce papers and in the civil division J. Gordon was extremely rude and not very helpful. Not only to me but I also witnessed her attitude with 2 other people in line. She didn't wear a name tag but her name was on my receipt. Someone like her should NOT be dealing with the public. Too bad I can't give zero stars. I had one simple question to ask someone in room 121. Keep in mind I have no traffic tickets, I don't do drugs, I didn't murder anyone, I have no criminal records and nothing against my name, etc. I first started with the traffic station. The first two people I got "help" from did not have very good English and could barely understand anything I said. They originally told me to grab a number...I was the only person there at the time. We sat waiting for our number for 10 minutes and the number on their screen didn't change once. I had to visit the courthouse the next day again hoping that a different person was working. I was wrongfully misdirected by one of the employees to ask someone from the civil station, and the lady at the civil station told me to look on the their public portal system on their computers myself. I told her I had already spent 30 minutes on the computer looking for the information I needed and told her it was not there. She then started arguing with me that everything's on the computer. I then took pictures of the computer and showed her and totally proved her wrong. Too bad she only said "oh it's not there" and didn't say anything after that nor did she provide me of direction of where to go to find my information nor did she really bother offering any further assistance after that. She seemed to have no sympathy for misinforming me, misguiding me, and for not knowing where to direct me. Literally for not doing anything her job consists of. Luckily after asking literally 3 more random people in the hallways, I was directed to the sheriff's office. RUDEST people you will EVER meet. The first lady at the window was a woman with short cut hair and looked to be in her 30s. Extremely rude. Every time I said five words as I asked my question she would interrupt me and cut me off. She then angrily complained that I was asking the same question over and over again. Maybe if she actually let me get to my question without interrupting me, I wouldn't have to keep repeating myself. I never even got to my question because she kept interrupting me and she claims that I repeated my question multiple times...Thus, my question was left unanswered because she didn't know what my question was because every time I attempted to ask it she would interrupt me every five words I said. So I asked the screaming lady in the back of the office. I call her screaming lady because the entire time I saw her in the back, she was screaming at someone. She had brown hair and looked to be in her 50s or 60s. Her attempt of helping me was shaming and judging me and lecturing me about the law hollering at me to stop doing whatever I'm doing. Please calm down lady. I have never broken the law, I have never gotten a ticket of any kind, I have no records against my name, I never gotten arrested, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, so please calm down and take time to understand my situation if you're going to aggressively lecture me like that. I understand these people work for the police and for the state law but that gives them no right for them to treat us inhumanely and just because they work for the state law, doesn't mean we should be forced to just sit there and let them harshly treat us like that. Respect has to go both ways. Just because they work for state law doesn't mean it's okay for them to be rude to people and doesn't make it okay for them to get away with it. I understand they work for the authorities but that gives them no right to treat people the way they do and for us to just sit there and accept it. read more

I came in today to help translate to the family members of a friend; and Today, has honestly been the day i realized that not only are the police officers very disrespectful with an attitude to everyone and anyone , but any question you have , you CANNOT ask one single person working here , because right away they have: an attitude with you, yell at you, ignore you while they're having a conversation with someone else about a personal life problem, and treat you like you're a nobody. I observed everyone coming in the court room i was in, and that same police officer yelled at everyone as soon as they came in with a question. Wow! These are the people in charged of our security-we are in trouble. I called because I wanted to know if they process passports. The first time I called it rang 32 times then someone just hung up on me. The second time I called I hung up after 36 rings and the third time the woman said she didn't know and just hung up on me. The fourth time I asked my question and a woman said hold on here he is and a man answered and he didn't know what I was talking about in regards to a passport. Great use of our tax dollars! read more
