I had heard good things about B & L Transmission and stopped to have them take a look at it. The owner was very friendly and said "lets take it for a drive." He and I took a quick ride and he had a good idea what the problem was. We returned to his shop and he got under the truck and started shaking the drive shaft around and said the truck should not be driven. He said repairs could be somewhere between $800. to $1,400. and it would take a day or two. My truck was not safe to drive. He then gave me a ride home about 4 miles away. I then received a call from the owner several days latter who told me he was able to adjust and tighten and lock a nut and the damage he expected was not present. He surprised a retired guy, on a fixed income with a bill of $116.00. I was so surprised and grateful that honest people like him still exist. Places like this are rare today. I had previously had precision do a few alignments and PTU fluid swaps in my vehicles. however,…read morewhen I took my 02 f150 to them and paid for diagnostics after having a full tune up at Mefferds the year before, they quoted me for a full new exhaust system and motor tear down for a coolant leak. they failed to tell me that my exhaust issue was from my SVT cats being attempted to be cut off and stolen, and that the coolant leak was a $25 gasket. I used to have a lot of respect for those guys and suggest them everywhere. but the diagnostic price plus quote of $2000+ was fricking absurd for what was actually going on. it was professionally fixed elsewhere for under $1000, correctly.

The last time the truck was there they hit something with the truck (I'm guessing a rack) and wrinkled the front fender and broke a headlight. When confronted about the damage they denied doing it and would not fess up to any part of the damage. We know they had to be aware they did it because we could tell the headlight had been replaced and they left a chunk of the glass in the bed. Honestly I'm surprised they even replaced the headlight( old style halogen). Given a choice, I'd go somewhere else.
