I had heard good things about B & L Transmission and stopped to have them take a look at it. The owner was very friendly and said "lets take it for a drive." He and I took a quick ride and he had a good idea what the problem was. We returned to his shop and he got under the truck and started shaking the drive shaft around and said the truck should not be driven. He said repairs could be somewhere between $800. to $1,400. and it would take a day or two. My truck was not safe to drive. He then gave me a ride home about 4 miles away. I then received a call from the owner several days latter who told me he was able to adjust and tighten and lock a nut and the damage he expected was not present. He surprised a retired guy, on a fixed income with a bill of $116.00. I was so surprised and grateful that honest people like him still exist. Places like this are rare today. Upon taking it in, it was a routine check in/drop off procedure. They got back to me the same day, but here's where they won me over. My repair was fully covered under Jeep warranty, so taking it to the dealer would cost $0. Al, who advised me of my options said I could just go get it fixed free at the dealer (which he communicated to them before I went). The point is that these guys could have easily gone the "shady auto shop" route and charged me for something the warranty covered, but instead these guys were honest. I used to have a lot of respect for those guys and suggest them everywhere. but the diagnostic price plus quote of $2000+ was fricking absurd for what was actually going on. it was professionally fixed elsewhere for under $1000, correctly.

He totally rebuilt my transmission. I got the car back and it rolled in park. I took it back. They fixed it the rolling in park issue. I got the home and after a couple weeks I noticed it was leaking transmission fluid. I called them up about this and was told that it was leaking from the speedometer cable and they don't have time to order this (rare) part. I got online today and found several cable within a 5 minute google search. This is where I would normally put in profanity. Lets just leave it at---don't trust them with a car you love.
