There are 20 some stops along the Walk, which include retail stores, restaurants, bars and service businesses. Even the Boulder Dam Museum (within a hotel) is a stop, and they had one of the nicest set ups. Among the "treats" at the stops are wine, of course, water and snacks. It's not wine at each stop, which is disclosed in the event description. However, only one business that we went to didn't have wine! And they pour heavy in the cute and sturdy tasting glass everyone gets. Most places had a few different types of wine, some even had around 10! It was a hot day, and it was nice to get relief in the a/c at the stops. Some of the places had a big area for the wine tasting, and a few were really awkward. These places were busy with regular customers, and it seemed like having the wine there was an imposition. The check-in was easy, and this is where you buy tickets and receive the wine stop map. A few vendors were there handing out goodies as well as wine. This event is a great way to check out all the businesses around Downtown. They have a gift basket raffle and another basket for the costume contest winner. Overall, it exceeded my expectations and I plan on returning.

I tried GBD Food Truck and got a Falafel Bowl. It was an extra generous amount of OK food. My husband made a really great find and tried the Hot Honey Chicken Sando from Goodhood Food Truck. WOW that was that great!!!! This is a Food Truck to look for. This is a pretty good festival to try. It's free to park and attend. We got lucky and found a close parking spot in the parking garage.

Advertising is hands down the best I've seen in the industry. Suzi, the woman who runs it, is helpful, encouraging, and very responsive to any questions regardless of time of day. Communication is excellent. She's also a no-nonsense, straight to the point businesswoman, qualities which I respect & appreciate in the people and companies I do business with. There was also a row of local vendor booths that offered goods for sale, as well as informational booths. Most of the food trucks offered reasonable and affordable prices, but a handful of them had absolutely crazy prices. One food truck was serving pasta and wanted an astounding $22-$23 for one bowl of pasta, we quickly skipped past that booth along with everyone else who saw their incredibly high prices. There was a stage with live music, and the band was absolutely fantastic. But that wasn't the only entertainment this event had to offer... Surprisingly, they even had live wrestling... it was very entertaining. My 11yo son sat with his mouth opened the whole show... he didn't know what to think. But we all highly enjoyed it. On the other side of the event area, there was a carnival with rides, games, and a fun house. It was a lot of fun watching the riders laughing and screaming their heads off on the thrill rides. Everyone we came across was friendly, helpful, and just seemed happy to be there. We brought our puppy with us, and he had a great time too. He even made himself a few new puppy friends. I highly recommend this event. We will definitely come back again next year.

The Positives: I found some cute pareos, like I need more. They don't charge admission and have always remained free to get in. It's family friendly and still has the laid back aloha vibe, ukuleles playing, malasadas, shave ice and all.

I always try to make it out to these less main stream festivals. That's what I'm more use to being from a "country" style island. I think this is probably one of the more enjoyable and family friendly ones. They have hula dancing and various artist and entertainers from across the valley. It's more of what represents the Pacific Islands community here. Yes you can probably buy food at the actual vendors' restaurants but if you came here you can hang out, chillax, and converse with random people just wanting a good time. Pure Aloha is good but crowded, entry fee, at a casino, in a parking lot, jammed with unnecessary vendors selling the same stuff, and I did't care for the fair rides and games. Also seeing that after the last Pure Aloha event a few weeks ago there was a bunch of fights. Yea not the best thing. So back to the Ho'olaule'a Pacific Island Festival. I will definitely be back to support this festival. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for the 20+ years. That's go for 30.
