My husband and I could not have had such a beautiful wedding without Yoli there to execute all the details so flawlessly. Our wedding appeared to flow seamlessly and that was all because of Yoli. I remember emailing This DJ to ask about dj services and Yoli replied back to me right away. I personally appreciated that because a lot of vendors I contacted either responded much later or not at all. I could tell Yoli and DJ Rio were very professional and that they valued me as a client. Yoli was so kind and met us last year on Mothers Day! We had to drive from San Diego to Los Angeles so she definitely made the effort to see us and talk to us about being our wedding reception dj and emcee. About six weeks before our wedding date, my husband and I went to speak to the manager at our reception venue. We wanted to know how they were going to set up our banquet area and what specific rules they had. The manager informed us that the banquet room was given to a bigger wedding party even though we put a deposit down. My husband and I were crushed. We would have to cancel our reception and tell all of the vendors we could no longer use them. There was no time to find another venue. I remember calling Yoli and talking to her on the phone. I was so upset. All she was interested in was calming me down and assuring me that I was still going to have an amazing wedding, even if there was not going to be a reception. She wanted to give me our deposit back, but I didn't think that was fair since she had reserved that night for our wedding. On our wedding day, Yoli managed all the little problems that came up with ease. She helped calm me down and communicated with me and my husband. She was really friendly and got along well with our family members and photographers. She took care of my belongings and placed them in a safe location. Everything I was not comfortable asking family members to do, she was happy to do without hesitating. I was so happy to have her by my side. She took a great burden of stress off of me. During the planning stages of my daughter's Sweet 16 party, I had no idea where to start looking for a DJ, and thought the best way would be by referral. They were very prompt in responding to our initial inquiry, and were very thorough with their questions to ensure that on the day of our wedding everything ran smoothly. When our big day came, Yoli did a great job keeping our guests entertained, pronouncing our wedding party and family's names (not an easy feat!), and kept our reception on schedule. She went the extra mile to bring food to us during the event after our first dance and wanted to make sure we were taken care of. From the first visit to the wedding, Yoli was in constant contact with us and had everything planned out to the T. One simple phrase: THE BEST DJ/MC EVER! Now before I continue, let me say that before we met the amazing couple of THISDJ, we did not know them in any shape or form so you can rest assured that this isn't a review from people that they knew before and who never used any of their services as many other wedding vendors do these days. Not going to lie, after we met Yoli and Rio we were a little skeptical about having a female MC and a male DJ when the norm is to have one person, normally male, do both. When we went to go seem them in action at another wedding, we were BLOWN AWAY! HOW DID THIS FEMALE/MALE MC/DJ NOT HAPPEN BEFORE?!?! We've been to many weddings when a single person would try being the MC and DJ at the same time and at least a few times things would get awkward. Either the songs would mess up where they would then rush back to the booth to fix it, or the DJ would just sit in the booth the whole night having no crowd interaction at all just to name a few. Yoli and Rio could not have worked out more perfectly! Rio, the DJ, took requests, got a feel for the audience, was able to cut up songs for our first dance two days before the wedding, made a list of genres we liked, artists and songs we didn't like, and basically was the best DJ we've seen. We would have hired him alone solely based on his skills and professionalism, but NOOOOOO they don't stop there! Here comes his lovely wife, Yoli, as the MC too! As soon as we saw them at the other wedding, my wife and I smiled at each other knowing that we found our duo! After we told them we would like to book them, Yoli met up with us and basically set up out entire wedding based on the information we gave her. Not only that, she was up on the dance floor the entire night either leading the dances to get everyone involved or making sure everyone was smiling, laughing and having a great time! We were astonished to see the level of detail that these two put into OUR wedding! My biggest fear for our wedding was that after spending so much time and money into planning our perfect wedding, people were going to leave early as we had many people that didn't know each other, people that are normally very reserved, or people that were up there in age. Let me tell you, we literally had to kick everyone out because people were having way too much fun! My mom, a lady quite up there in age, was doing the wobble! THE WOBBLE! BLEW MY MIND! I know normally these reviews are from the bride but I'll let her write the other vendor reviews. I just had to write this one as our whole wedding was taken to another level by THISDJ! We were at an extremely exclusive venue that does a handful of weddings a year, we had vendors that were ranked top vendors for many publications, we even had PATINA catering (yes, that Patina! Caterers to the Governer's Ball and Oscar's) do rack of lamb, steak and lobster and STILL people came up to us and said that our DJ and MC were amazing! The first time I met Yoli and DJ Rio was at a Starbucks in Pasadena where I dropped off the slideshow I made for my best friends' wedding. Wow! I don't want to write 10 pages about how great This DJ is(because then no one would want to read it)...but I could! Hands down they were our BEST vendor at our wedding. Every single guest that we have spoken with have all raved abut how wonderful Yoli & DJ Rio were. As soon as we met, we knew that we would go with them because they were so kind, professional, and have the experience. Yoli came to our venue, took notes, gave suggestions, and presented us with a video and so much information that we did not have to ask many questions. Every time we had to contact This DJ, Yoli responded very promptly, which we did not get with all our other vendors. Yoli attended our venue walk through and Yoli and Rio came to the rehearsal the night before to make sure they knew exactly where everything would go. This DJ gives you a packet to fill out your timeline and insert any important information. It also has many types of music genres to choose from, special songs (like the cha cha slide) that you can do, and they customize everything you want! Before our wedding, we got a sample of all of our important songs (ceremony music, bridal party entrance music, first dance, father/daughter dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss etc.) to make sure everything was correct. They even got all the Vitamin String Quartet songs that I really wanted to play before the ceremony and during dinner. They also take song requests from your guests. On our wedding day, Yoli acted as a second day of wedding coordinator. She was on it! Making sure everything ran smoothly. She was right alongside us making sure the volume was loud enough at dinner, giving the bridal party tips on the grand entrance, and all the while being a fantastic MC!!!!! The absolute BEST part was that she also took SO many photos of everything; even down to the details of the flowers and tables. Yoli had them posted on Facebook the next day, and we really enjoyed how awesome the pictures are! I really don't know how she did it all (Yoli, you should maybe look into adding that to the package as well!). They also offer uplighting and monogramed service...probably even more than that! My wife and I are so pleased with the exceptional service and performance that This DJ provided. Yoli worked tirelessly to help plan and organize our wedding reception. She is meticulous about details, and she asked all the right questions to help us cover all the details. At our wedding reception, she was great on and off the mic to help keep things moving along, and she adapted very well to schedule changes. She has a great sense of when to make announcements, and her manners and demeanor are so positive, she is the type of person that I'm pleased for my entire family to see coordinating the wedding. And DJ Rio is the nicest guy ever; he is a genuinely nice person and very family-friendly. He took our diverse music style preferences and made great suggestions to put together a music plan that we truly loved, transitioning the mood and environment of our wedding from classy cocktail party, to summer evening dinner, to dance party. He also knew the right volume level during different parts of the event; he gets that music provides the mood and the background during cocktail and dinner, and then gets turned up when its time to dance. Why hire This DJ?? 1. DJ Rio and emcee Yoli are married and they understand how important your wedding day is. In part, we picked This DJ because we felt a married DJ/MC duo might be more sentimental about our wedding, and they were definitely the right choice. They know when to get in front of the crowd and get things moving along, and when to disappear into the background; and they also dressed very nicely, in black formal attire that looked professional and very appropriate for our wedding. 2. They use technology to make planning easier. They use online questionnaires, and provide many online tools, to help make the music selections, styles, and event organization a breeze. I was so impressed with how helpful the online tools were, and how organized This DJ was to work with at every step of the way. *Caveat: your DJ, or any vendor, can not read your mind. The more info, ideas, and preferences, and flat-out work you do on your end, the better they are able to make your event perfect. 3. They use technology at the event to make your day better. Yoli and DJ Rio were in constant contact throughout the entire event, by using a wireless radio system of some sort. The radios they wore are more subtle than those radios that CIA agents at the White House wear. They also have the latest DJ equipment, including wireless microphones and all kinds of speakers and lighting equipment to adapt to any environment. Even as the evening ended, they left a speaker playing ipod music while they were packing up their other equipment, so we had pleasant background music as guests were clearing out. 4. In-person consultation, and event planning. Yoli was with us every step of the way to help get the reception schedule planned out. She met with us in person; she and DJ Rio visited our venue prior to the event to understand the layout and ensure they had the right equipment, understood the venue rules, correct insurance, etc. And they were incredibly responsive to our questions and needs at every step of the way. 5. Equipment rental. You need a projector for a slide show? They've got that. They also include the laptop and projector screen, and they will even help put your slide show together if you'd like. They also have a 4g wireless internet hotspot, which came in really handy because we ran our slide show from the internet. They also have other equipment, such as fancy lighting options, that are handy to rent for the event. They provide all the set up and take-down, so we didn't have to worry about a thing. 6. I hired This DJ for my son's 2 yr old Birthday party. What a great time we had! They played a mix of childrens songs at our request and as the night progressed they played music so the adults would get their turn to tear up the dance floor. Not only did they play great music but they also have lighting equipment and even had a "Happy Birthday" logo in lights for all of our guests to see once the sun went down. My friend who was supposed to do my day of coordination had to move abruptly, so she couldn't be at the wedding. I didn't have anyone else who could do it, because I'm not from here and I don't know a lot of people who could do this for me in the area.
