Pro City DJ was the DJ at my wedding back in September and he was absolutely amazing. When in contact with Pro City DJ before choosing him for our wedding, he was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. My Wedding was 1 year ago! Alittle late on my review, but in celebrating our 1st year anniversary yesterday, I had to come and say something. First off, Rick is insanely organized. He'll ask you questions you never thought of. Little details that could have easily been missed had Rick not have been there. He creates a timeline that catches all the little details that make a big difference. He was a great MC. He has a great voice, great style, awesome energy. The music was right on point. I never heard something I cringed too. He also will do exactly what is important to you. For example, I didn't want the music to stop or for the cake cutting to be announced. That's a dancefloor killer. AND I wanted only 2 designated people to give speeches. And he was instructed that if anyone tried to take the mic, to tackle them! lol I got what I wanted, only 2! Rick DJed our wedding on 9/14/24 and I have never heard so many people talk about what an amazing DJ he was! We had so many comments like "I've been to a lot of weddings and that was the best DJ and music ever". I had several people ask for his contact info for future weddings. Rick's dinner set list had people singing and dancing in their seats as they ate, already bringing the vibes up before the dance floor ever opened. We will forever listen to the mix from our wedding day. That should be a testament to how awesome Rick is as DJ and MC. He was incredibly organized and proactive to speak exactly what he needed for a venue (Palm Springs/Desert estate property) which was new to the wedding scene. He listened to all our requests pre-wedding and put an awesome mix of Russian (important piece of our wedding), 90/2000's, and current tracks in a way that everyone (from 6years to 70) was dancing until the end. Rick was amazing to work with he was a very organized and sent us a timeline (event before our wedding coordinator) to complete for wedding songs way in advance. His style of organization worked perfectly with my planner personality however if you're a bride that is an organized doesn't enjoy planning Rick can absolutely take over this portion of the task... he was flexible with music and changes in music he allowed the bride and groom to change songs during the middle of the night and worked with an outside guitar player (a friend of ours) who performed during the ceremony. If we EVER have need for a DJ and MC, we would have a zero hesitation in hiring Rick again- his price, his effort, his energy they're all worth it to bring to the table for us celebration like your wedding! He also gave great suggestions for songs when I was stumped! He had great communication and suggestions in the weeks before our wedding and I love the bridal march he picked. Wow. I don't even know where to start. So I was the groom of the wedding which means I didn't do much, but I was given the task by my now wife of finding a fantastic DJ. I only had one job... And thank goodness I found Rick and Pro City DJ! Rick MC'eed and DJ'ed my now wife and my wedding a couple weeks ago and he did a phenomenal job. Ok, actually I do know where to start. Let me first start off by saying that if you have a wedding near the Temecula, SD, OC, Riverside area, hire Rick and Pro City DJ. Also get his Photobooth package too, it makes it easy on you. Your wedding coordinator/venue will have a list of recommended DJs and Pro City DJ may not be one of them, but that's ok. I found through googling and asking around that most of the time this is because these venues get a kickback for having those DJs on their list, so when they are hired the venue gets a percentage back or the venue is being paid to have the DJ listed. So if Pro City DJ isn't on there, don't fret. Still call Rick and hire him. I believe I first contacted Rick 8-10 months prior to the wedding date. He was super helpful and spoke to me on the phone for about an hour or two going over what typically happens in the next couple of months and how the day is planned out. He also prepared an awesome 6-10 page Google Document with an outline of things that you and your fiance will work on for the next couple of months. Things such as timing of events, songs to certain parts of the wedding, etc. It's very detailed. In fact, our wedding venue coordinator and our other vendors (videographer, photographer, etc) just went off of what the document Rick and I had made since it was so comprehensive. Rick was also super chill about any last minute changes. My fiance and I had a plan for how our grand entrance was going to be using the Proclaimers 500 Miles Song and he helped us get it done to have our audience participate. Also, I had planned a fun sing-along for my fiance during the wedding a week before the wedding and we were able to get everyone to serenade my wife. 3rd, my mom had snuck a couple of raffle tickets into the gift boxes and so we had a random raffle giveaway towards the end of the wedding which was literally last minute but Rick somehow made it super fun and even had raffle music playing. Lastly, my sister had an impromptu musical shingdig that she wanted to do for us and Rick smartly asked for our permission beforehand. We agreed to it, which we are very happy for but we very much appreciate Rick asking. Oh yeah, side tangent. So for the singalong, I brought my guitar and Rick was able to set up a direct line via quarter inch cable to his sound system so it was super easy for me to start the singalong. And also, I asked my cousin if he could play his violin during the pre-processional time and Rick was more than accommodating in getting that set. As for the dance floor, there was only 1-2 dull moments and it was anticipated. We had thrown in 1-2 non-dance songs in there that our the favorite songs of my wife's 5 year old nephew and 3 year old niece. Those two little kiddos had a blast, as did we since they were having fun, but it did kill the dance floor. Again this was anticipated. I mean, one of the songs was Intergalactic by the Beastie Boys. That said, we didn't tell Rick which songs they were but it seemed like he knew already. As soon as those songs finished, he knew exactly what to play afterwards to get everyone back to dancing. Almost everyone stayed until the end of the wedding since they were having such as great time and this is mostly due to Rick's awesome DJing. With regards to what package we purchased, we got 5.5 hours of DJ/MCing with ceremony and reception parts. Also got the photobooth which prints out 3-picture strips. Rick brings an attendant to help and also a table of props! You also get full resolution pictures sent via email after the wedding which is nice! We also got uplights which were pretty cool and made the ambience of the night so much better. Rick is super professional. He has done this for a long time and knows what he is doing. My officiant/friend forgot to tell people to stand right before the bride was going to walk down the aisle, but Rick quickly recognized that and very calmly and subtly informed the audience to please stand. No hiccups whatsoever! Lastly, if none of the above is enough to persuade you to hire this amazing person, you should hire him just because he is and will be your biggest cheerleader throughout this process. During every single conversation and email, Rick will constantly remind you that you are doing a great job and that things are going well. If not, he'll gently nudge you along. It was such a nice feeling having Rick, who we know has been through a ton of weddings, remind you that things are going well. Around two years ago, when we started planning our wedding, I sent out a quick email to around ten DJs introducing myself and listing our venue/date. 1. Rick was one of the first DJs to respond back. 2. Rick's response was the longest and the most specific (being familiar with the venue, he asked questions like if the reception was in the Barrel Room or at Vista del Valle outdoors). 3. Rick's response was the friendliest. We liked Rick instantly. After finalizing our decision to go with Rick, we were treated to a master demonstration of vendor communication. He immediately started work on a master itinerary and asked us numerous questions that spurred us to think about decisions that would never have occurred to us. Every email was hyper specific and focused, and we nailed the perfect timeline way before the date of the wedding, which was a huge relief to us. I hired Rick to be the DJ of my backyard 40th birthday bash the end of May. Our correspondence began a few months prior to the event. Our initial conversation was very nice. Rick was personable, flexible, and accommodating. He mentioned that he had a regular gig at Folsom Bowl. I took the opportunity to call the manager of Folsom Bowl who had nothing but great things to say about Rick. I then felt comfortable moving forward with the plan, and signing a contract. All correspondence in the next few months was handled in a professional and timely manner. Rick had answers to all of my questions and helped to get the ball rolling in the planning. On the day of the event, Rick showed up on time, set up his professional equipment, and got the tunes playing. Prior to the event, Rick had asked that I send a list of my favorite songs and artists. He took note, as throughout the night I noticed that my favorites were played. I had requested that some mellow music to be played while guests arrived and through dinner. Rick was very professional and I could even say that he puts the PRO in Pro City DJ! Straight off the bat he was very professional when I spoke to him over the phone. He immediately sent me an email to follow up detailing what we discussed . His knowledge and professionalism is what really made me give him a call back. He was very accommodating with my request to have him set up at three different locations at our wedding venue . His prices were very fair and I honestly can say he provided much more value than the others who quoted me similar prices. Apart from having an extremely great selection of music he knows how to connect with the crowd that we had of various cultures in ages. My wife is Mexican-American and I am Filipino-American. We had children, grandparents and everything in between at the wedding. Everyone was dancing and I didn't even have to tell him which songs to play. I just said make sure the crowd is happy and I myself enjoyed the music he played. By our conversations, I could already tell he was a competent individual and that is why I felt good enough that I did not have to be specific and delegate individual songs to Rick. His wife was very sweet and helped out a bunch! All my friends said that he had a great speaking voice and you can understand him clearly. He was very entertaining but not too overwhelming as to put the spotlight on him. Rick did make it about us and our wedding celebration. Initially people said that I made a mistake by finding a DJ online like Rick but to be honest with you we were very happy with him. I feel we lucked out by getting him for our wedding. Picking a dj for our wedding was one of the most difficult vendors for us to choose! It's so hard to determine what will be a good fit but I can seriously say we made the right decision hiring Rick. He is a master at reading the crowd, talking just the right amount, and playing the perfect mix of music to keep everyone dancing! But before we even got to the wedding day I could tell he was super passionate about what he does and he was INCREDIBLY helpful through the planning process. He gave great insight as to what typically works and what doesn't. He created an awesome timeline that worked great and helped me understand step by step what the night would look like. He literally ran our wedding flawlessly from pre-ceremony to the last dance. We got married at Lorimar Winery in Temecula- he was already familiar with the venue and advised my DOC and I on the correct spot to put his booth which was actually a bigger deal than I realized. Had he not made that advisement he was going to be way too far from the dance floor. The night of our wedding it was pretty cold outside where our dance floor was but he took the initiative to have heat lamps moved around the dance floor. His attention to detail is on point! As for the photo booth, it was a huge hit! We were able to put it inside away from the cold and it was literally occupied the whole night. The pictures turned out great and we had so much fun flipping through all of the photos our friends and family took the next morning as he printed extras for us to keep original photo strips of all the photos taken as well. Just a day after the wedding Rick sent me an email with all the mp3s to the songs he played at our wedding in the order they were played along with awesome photos of the night that he took personally, and a folder with all the digital copies of the photobooth as well. Seriously this guy goes above and beyond. I'm super excited to have these as a keep sake and I thought it was really cool that he continued to give so much support to us even after the wedding! Rick is WONDERFUL! He was the DJ for our wedding, and he did an amazing job. Our initial meeting went smoothly, as we laid out what we needed to be thinking about and choosing for each part of the wedding. When we were stumped, he gave us a list of suggestions. He is fantastic about communication as well! I tend to choose to do email conversations so I can look back and see what we've already discusses, and Rick always emailed back no later than a day later. During the wedding, everything ran smoothly. If there were technical issues, it wasn't something my husband and I were aware of. And at the end of the evening, when hubby and I were ready to escape to our hotel room, Rick wrapped things up without any problem. We HIGHLY recommend Rick!
