Very professional and friendly office. Carol was awesome and extremely patient with us throughout the whole process. This was a first time home purchase, and she made everything simple and easy. Charlie Collison was also very nice and down to earth. He explained everything to us in a way we could understand, being so new to the process. Would definitely recommend them to anyone buying their first house!! read more

We tried to purchase our forever home and after some time all the contingencies allowing us to back out had passed. We had not seen the house for weeks until the final walk-through, only to realize that the house was not for us. We just wanted out for many reasons, and there was nothing to change our minds at this point. We were already trying to move out of state. We knew we would lose our deposit, which was ok with us, but the same real-estate agency and law firm that rolled out the red carpet for us changed their tune once we decided to back out. In fact the agent/lawyer that was supposed to be on our side seemed to turn their backs on us completely; never wanting to even converse with us for any reason. Every shred of communication felt accusatory even though the only thing we did was not follow through with the purchase. Purchases fall through all the time for all types of reasons, so why were we in the crosshairs?? In New York, real estate purchase agreements allow a buyer/seller to pursue legal remedies in addition to forfeiting/keeping any deposit. All we wanted was for release to be signed, and understood we would be losing the money we put down, but did not realize that the seller could come after us for the difference in the home's selling price in this volatile housing market. Attorney Meagher's first reaction was to talk us back into the purchase, and seemed to not care about our perspective. After all was said and done, nobody even contacted us once the release was signed. The lawyer's secretary Carol, was very rude to us, saying that we lost the money and that we had received the release letter already. Its a funny thing, cause the deposit came up sooo many times, but we kept saying that we knew and didn't care.. but it kept getting shoved in our faces as if we did. We cared more about the pursuit of legal remedies and just wanted a signed release.. In the end, the seller sold their home for more than we offered, so I'm sure they are happy. Everyone involved in this purchase, in particular the law firm's attorney and secretary were extremely unprofessional. read more

This is my first negative Yelp review, and I am only posting it so that hopefully I can save others some of the frustration and stress that I was faced with. I never once spoke to the attorney, only the assistant (which is pretty standard for an attorney's office so this was fine). However, I worked with this law office due to a traffic violation and the attorney did not get my sentence down. I took a traffic diversion course as I had originally planned before my court date, and sent the certificate to the attorney's office (this is what the attorney's assistant instructed me to do). I called multiple times to make sure that it was sent to the District Attorney's office, and they said that they had sent it and I would hear back when it was approved. About 9 months later, I got a notification from the District Attorney's office directly; stating that they never received my certificate and that I would have to pay several fines if they did not get the certificate within the week. I had to call the District Attorney's office myself (who told me they had never been contacted by Thomas, Collision, and Meagher), and send the certificate through myself. Luckily I was able to send the certificate through in time, but with no help from this law office. Please do not waste your time or money! read more

I contacted the firm seeking legal representation. During the intake process, the firm required that I provide my medical records as a condition of representation. At the time of this request, no retainer agreement, engagement letter, or written confidentiality or scope-of-representation terms had been provided or executed. I expressed concern about releasing sensitive medical records without a retainer or formal engagement in place and asked whether representation could be confirmed, or whether limited or alternative information could be provided for screening purposes. Following my refusal to release medical records without engagement terms, the firm declined to represent me. I understand that attorneys may request information to evaluate potential matters. However, I am concerned that mandating disclosure of full medical records prior to the formation of an attorney-client relationship, and conditioning representation on such disclosure, may exceed what is reasonably necessary for an initial consultation and may expose prospective clients to unnecessary confidentiality and privacy risks. Then to make matters worse, after the case was already over, I called and asked a question of what he was promising to obtain from the beginning and to see if in fact it was, .....this man had the nerve to add on more money to the bill for the question on the call! Overall, the case was not settled satisfactory due to representation.

I had one request and he had the audacity to instruct me and tell the other party's attorney to contact HIM. I hired them for one thing with minimal tweaks here and there, but nothing was done. 10 months with this firm being my counsel and the ONE job the attorney had, didn't even make it to the other party's office to get signed, let alone filed. I severed ties and the only thing I got out of the ridiculous retainer fee were copies of paper that served no purpose and 0 benefit to me. My ex wife on the other hand. Her lawyer spoke with her all through out the time in between cases and she was fully prepared for everything. My lawyer confused everyone when she talked to the point the judge had to stop her. I felt like every time we went to court that my lawyer was only there to get paid and didn't care at all about me or the outcome. Long to short I wasted my HARD Earned money on a firm that I thought I could trust.
