As I am uninsured at the moment, I try to limit doctor visits unless there is something really bothering me. With lots on my mind, I was nervous about the visit. But Dr. Horowitz and nurse Peggy made sure that wasn't the case. Peggy was so cordial and welcoming, it almost felt like I've been there multiple times already. Dr. Horowitz was easy to talk to - we actually had a nice long chat other than my reason for the visit, which I thought was nice. It was a genuine conversation and it showed he was more than a doctor. Office space was clean and friendly decorated. Parking was extremely easy to find and had no trouble finding the building. Follow up communication has been EXCELLENT with emails and online Proofpoint, where you can see billing/lab results/etc. Peggy replies within minutes and it always seems like she knows you on a personal level even though they have hundreds of other patients. I am pleased to find Dr. Horowitz, Peggy, and rest of the staff there and will not hesitate to come back for routinely checkups. I hope to get better with necessary steps :') read more

After years and years of trying to find a primary care physician, I have finally ARRIVED! Dr. Horowitz and his staff (Peggy and Jovita) blew my mind. I've gone to some of the best doctors in SoCal and never once once once once once could all my doctor experiences combined match up to the one visit I had yesterday. Dr. Horowitz took his time, got to know me, shared stories and when it was time for my diagnoses broke down what I had in a way that I actually could connect and understand what was going on with my body. Though I am brand new to Dr. Horowitz's office I feel confident writing a 5-star review. I have visited the doctor's office twice but that was enough to notice that this office operates on a completely different level from most doctor's offices I had previously visited in Los Angeles. Even in style, the office exhibits a certain nonorthodox quirky vibe with all its ironic references to its Hollywood location, which I quite like. I liked the office so much that I also brought in my 18-year old son who needed to upgrade and get a "real" doctor since he is no longer a child. There were some hiccups with my son's insurance but Peggy at the front desk handled them in most gracious way, so I am not surprised that everyone made sure to mention her in their reviews. I don't think that my words can speak highly enough about the staff at the office of Dr. Thomas Horowitz. First off, let me start by reviewing Dr. Horowitz. He is as good as it gets when it comes to a primary care physician. It seems like most other PCP's try to mash in as many patients as they can in order to increase the amount of revenue that they bring in. Dr. Horowitz is far from this type of physician. From what I have deduced, it seems that the office staff (Mrs. Horowitz aka. Peggy who is his wife and Jovita the staff nurse) spreads apart appointments so that each patient has ample time with the doctor. Dr. Horowitz really is well trained in almost all aspects of medicine. As a primary care doc he kinda has to know a little bit about every aspect of medicine and he really does. In cases when he knows that specialty care might be necessary, he really seems to know who the best doctors are in town and will refer you to them for the sake of your health and well being. Jovita is an energetic and enthusiastic nurse who makes you feel at home. Mrs. Horowitz is almost like your mother, who comforts you from the moment you step into the office until the moment you leave. Just like Mrs. Horowitz once mentioned, their practice really is about forging relationships and treating their patients as if they are family. I guess it's really only fitting that Dr. Horowitz is indeed a family physician. I have been around a good deal of physicians because of my own needs as a patient, as a pre-med, and having worked at USC hospital. I can honestly say that Dr. Horowitz and his lovable crew are one of a kind and that you will be very very hard pressed to find a better family doctor. I highly recommend him! The clinic was very clean and there was only a couple of minutes wait. I was able to get stitched up pretty quickly and the staff was all very nice and helpful. The doctor was awesome, took time with me, listened to me my allergies and medical history. They gave me a good prescription according to what I needed that works and everything didn't cost an arm and leg. I highly recommend this place. read more

no complaints about this doctor. he answered all my questions. he gave me everything i requested. he was nice enough to give me 3 months supply of all the medication i needed which i immensely appreciate because, as a college student, i don't have enough time to see doctors all the time. he wasn't at all manipulative or shady like some doctors i've seen who don't give in to the requests i've placed even though the medication i'm asking for could be covered by my insurance 100%. for instance, i went to a dermatologist this one time asking for retonin cream to preserve my youth even though it's only allowed to be prescribed when a person has acne. my doctor said he would not prescribe it to me because i don't have acne but he said i can buy it from him out of pocket because he's greedy and manipulative. i went hiking this one time and my toenails were black on the top edges and the family doctor i went to said i needed to take off my nail polish and come back tomorrow for her to determine if my toenails are just bruised or if it's a fungal infection. within the next few days, i had to go to the hospital for a drug overdose. i asked them why my toenail was black and the doctor told me right away it's just a bruised. see what i mean? doctors need to stop thinking we're stupid or something and lying to us with the purpose of ripping us off for them to make more money. eventually we'll find out and i won't go to them again as a customer. i really liked thomas lee horowitz because he's an honest doctor and doesn't do anything or say anything shady with the objective of making more money. i will keep coming back to him because his honesty is appreciated. i highly recommend him to anyone as a family doctor. dear staff, please let mr. thomas know i said thank you for being the only honest doctor i've been to who hasn't tried to rip me off or lie to me or make me schedule appointments unnecessarily to get things done that could have been done in one visit. i will definitely refer all my friends to him and am leaving this in an updated help review as well. his integrity is immensely appreciated. i really hate when horrendous restaurants, drug rehabs, or doctors have good reviews on yelp. it does happen occasionally where i am mislead to go to a place because of the reviews i've read. I've been through a few primary care physicians since moving to Los Angeles 15 years ago and have never been totally happy until finding Dr. Horowitz! I can't even express what a breath of fresh air it is going to an office that is as well run as theirs. It's always easy to get an appointment and they are always running on time! I've never waited more than 5 minutes for my appointment! They always call you back with your testing results and their billing procedures make everything so easy!! Between family members and I, I have been to a handful of doctor offices over the years. I must say Dr. Horowitz office is the best from the way they run their office to the way they handle patients care. I was shock to see such office still exists! I went to Dr. Horowitz for the first time today on my husbands referral, who saw The good Dr. just a few weeks back for an unknown infection in his lymphoid's which he helped heal. I myself have asthma and have always been given regular inhalers which hasn't helped long term. Dr. Horowitz talked with me a good while and asked lots of questions and put me on asthma controllers not just emergency inhalants. I had a great experience from the time I walked in. Great doctor. Unfortunately not covered by HMO's. He listens to all your concerns. Wait time is never that long - around 15 mins on average. I think only once I waited 30 minutes. And last minute appointments are almost always available (because when you've just gotten an ear infection and you have the fly the next day, you can't wait). Yes, he does keep the door open to the receptionist area (although the door to the waiting room is closed) which is slightly weird, but I've asked him to close it before and he's always happy to do so. Also, in the land of no free parking, I've always been able to find a spot on street parking a block away. read more

Wow! I have never been treated so well by a doctor AND their entire staff as I was in this office. From the moment you walk in, it's like you traveled back in time. I felt this way from how I was greeted, to the old photo books of some of the great ladies of the past, to every piece of the decor and equipment that filled each room. I was offered, and given, a lovely cup of coffee - in a real coffee mug! The warmth in the room from the honest care and love from these people was undeniable. I came in to see them, to see Dr. Horowitz, because my doctor wouldn't help me. I was frustrated and upset. Dr. Horowitz sat there and just listened. He never tried to rush me out or change my mind. He listened and said, "yes, I will help you..." Then we talked about food for a bit and he just made me feel better. Peggy did too! Even the wonderful woman who first brought me into the room! This office runs the way a doctors office used to, they way they should still. I thought this kind of care was gone. I am going to find a way to switch to Dr. Horowitz. Dr. Tom Horowitz is the best. You don't find too many physicians that will come in on a weekend because you are ill. That's Dr. Horowitz. When I need medical advice, he always gets back to me. Here's the best part: He is a family doctor. Everyone in the office, Dr. Horowitz, Peggy and Jovita treat you like family. They are there when you need them. This is the closest thing you'll find in Southern California to an old fashioned medical practice. Caring and considerate and that's just the beginning. He's trustworthy as is the whole staff. It's been several months since my first visit to Dr Horowitz but since that time I've felt a sense of security for having finally found a really great GP. As other reviews have noted, his practice and establishment is impeccable and that is much appreciated. However even more than that, everyone on the staff (especially Peggy) is highly coordinated and responsive to an impressive degree. As a practice, they listened and responded to my needs as a patient and also as a unique individual. In the past with other providers, I've felt rather anonymous as though I was being put through a formula or process that couldn't adapt to fit the specific patient. Doctors and nurses were hard to reach for communication when it mattered and even a small amount of personalized information was hard to come by. Dr Horowitz's practice really distinguishes itself by anticipating so many needs of their patients, being accessible and facilitating access to the right care and information at the right time. Perhaps this kind of expertise comes from a long and dedicated lifetime of experience in patient care. In Dr. Horowitz's case, his father was also a doctor and he obviously passed on some real wisdom. Finally, Dr. Horowitz keeps strong connections with a variety of other quality specialists within his network so when I needed to be referred out, I still had great peace of mind and wonderful care.
