We couldn't have asked for anything more. Walter had a beautiful Funeral Mass and a very nice burial service at the cemetery. Midge has been the Funeral Director for many of our family's funerals for the past 25 years including our Mom, Dad, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. She's more like a family friend. My parents were elderly, not sick for long, and lived a beautiful life being the best parents God could have given us, but losing a young son was the worse thing a mother could face. During these extremely sad times, Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home in Shenandoah, PA, took care of everything. For which we are grateful. Ownership has changed and it is now run by the owner of the Bunnell Funeral Home's in Bloomsburg and Millville. The funeral home sits alongside a rural road in the country outside of Catawissa. Entrance to the building now varies with the size of the funeral, it can either be in the original back entrance or the new handicap accessible entrance that has been built in front of the building. The parking lot can become quite crowded if it's a larger funeral. Due to some rearrangement and changes in placements, seating has been increased for the family with the addition of a few dozen seats. Interior still holds about fifty seats for mourners, with room for twenty additional people standing. The interior is simple and dim. I would describe it as if you were going to your grandparent's house in many ways; older style furniture sits against the back and sides for people who can't sit comfortably in the wood folding chairs. It can get a bit warm inside if there's a larger funeral. The carpeting has been completely replaced as part of the recent changes. The people here really do a good job in your time of mourning. Everything was beautifully prepared for the funeral; they take the time to make sure they know about the person's life. Funeral was nothing but smooth making it an easier time for everyone involved. They do a great job at making the situation about as well as it can be.
