Barnardo's of Rathmines is a quaint little store in a line of charity shops on the Rathmines Road strip. This one has a good range of men's, women's and children's clothing, and even has the Barnardo's Brand New range, which features brand new clothes at heavily discounted prices. These are donated by a range of retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers. I was particularly impressed with the range of women's shoes and boots on offer, and at the lage number of CDs and videos on sale. These guys are doing great things for the youth of Ireland, so support them, volunteer at their stores and donate your unwanted clothing.

Barnardos are a children's charity which do significant work in all areas related to children and stores such as this provide some of their income. They stock a good range of clothes, toys, shoes and books and I seem to see something I'd like every time I walk past. Definitely a great place to browse for a bargain and do some good in the process!

As the dress is boxed, I can't attest to the fully quality of the clean. However, the customer service here is great. I had gone in to get a quote for some alterations I had wanted on the dress prior to the wedding and while I didn't actually have my alterations completed in Press Xpress in th end (due to logistics), they were very helpful in bouncing around ideas and discussing the requirements.

By that I mean, it was effortless. So here's the story. I rang The Alteration Rooms late Wednesday to see if they did alterations on men's suits. As I had just splashed out a good bit of dosh on a new suit I wanted to make sure they were proper tailors and not the type that just fix buttons and zippers. Yes, they are proper tailors. I spoke to Clare, one of the owners, late Wednesday and mentioned I needed a suit fitted for a wedding Saturday evening. She said that was a pretty short time frame so I better get in as quickly as possible. I knew I was cutting it close, pardon the pun, but I can be a bit last minute with these sorts of things. 'Right' I said; I'll be in Thursday morning when you open at 9:30am! Then Clare said her husband Gerry is usually in at 8am before they open so feel free to come in earlier if that suited...it did suit. So there I was at 8am Thursday morning and so was Gerry. He took me right in and wasted no time getting my measurements and pinning up my suit. I was out the door 15 minutes later and on my way to work. Absolutely amazing customer service! But it didn't end there. It was later that afternoon when I realized I had made a mistake. The wedding was NOT Saturday night; it was actually Friday night!!! Yikes! So I called Gerry in a panic and asked if the suit could be ready a day earlier. Cool as a cucumber, Gerry said; 'no worries, we'll get it done for you' and I arranged to pick it up Friday at 4pm. By noon on the Friday I received a text saying my suit was ready! Fantastic! They delivered on their promise and delivered early! To make a long story short (another tailoring pun), The alterations were quality and the suit was a perfect fit. They even didn't cut off the extra fabric length, it was sewn up as part of the hem so the length could be taken back down if needed, the proper way, no shortcuts taken (my last pun...I promise). I can't say enough about the great customer service and quality service I received at The Alteration Rooms in Shankill. The work was high quality and professional and the customer service was effortless. This is my new go to tailors! I have to give 5 stars! Phenomenal!

Gerry called almost immediately after posting on Yelp; said to come down today at 09:00 and they would get it sorted. The zip was replaced and some darts were even let out so that I could breathe on Christmas day. Fantastic service, so friendly and professional, I was even given a paper to read while I was waiting in the coffee shop next door. I will definitely be back.
