A true slice of Americana. This is the world's oldest continuously operating drag strip. You can race anything, from street cars like Cadillac Escalades to real dragsters and everything in-between. Spectators are only $10 and kids under 12 are free. You can bring your own food and drinks (including alcohol), and pull right up to the fence to watch. There are also a few bleachers where you can watch the action up by the starting line. They do sell food and drink as well and have decent bathrooms. I used to race there when I was a kid. It was a great weekend pastime and helped me develop my passion for cars. I would love to go back to those racing days and do it again. Thorn Hill was a fantastic part of my growing up. I raced a Dodge Dart and my main competition was a Plymouth Valliant. The owner always beat me by at least 1/2 of a car length and I always looked forward to him not showing up each week. Fortunately he missed a couple of weeks and I won a trophy on those days. I plan to go once again visit Thorn Hill just to renew my memories of times gone by. I might even race one last time. Thanks for keeping Thorn Hill alive and thanks for the memories. read more
