As my daughter is 10 years old, and a meal was being provided through the tour, there were not many options that were 10 year old friendly. I approached one of the staff, Emma, and told her my dilemma. I asked if they could make some chicken nuggets and fries or something like that. Very few of the meals that we had on our tour were for a 10 year old and I wanted her to have something to enjoy. Emma said, let me check with our chef, Doug. She came back and said, "Not only will he make her chicken nuggets, but if she colors this picture well, he will make sure that she has ice cream for dessert!" Gabby was ecstatic! Not only did Chef Doug make chicken nuggets, but he made them from scratch. Not the premade ones at all. I have to say that I tried one and they had to be the best chicken nuggets that I've ever had. And she got a big bowl of vanilla ice cream for dessert! Thanks so much to the staff at Holiday Inn Leeds Garforth, especially Emma and Chef Doug. You made our stay wonderful and hope to be back again!

It has free parking, which is good, and as you would expect of a Hilton, is slightly higher in price than the average for the area. Inside the hotel it is quite modern and to a high standard, much unlike the dated exterior. The reception area, rooms and dining area are very nice and clean. Towels and bedding are clean, and the bathrooms are all to a high standard with complimentary personal hygiene items as standard. The staff are very polite indeed, very professional, and look the part. They are very knowledgeable about the area, such as nearby restaurants, cashpoints and petrol stations. They have information on the area to hand to residents also. The food is excellent as you would expect, with a large choice of breakfast items, from continental to traditional, and the optional evening meal has plenty of variety, with Italian, English and French foods being the standard. Certainly the steak I had there was excellent and to a high standard. Expect to pay around £20 - £25 per head depending on drinks and dessert.

But whilst talking to someone after Leeds West Indian Carnival he recommended the hotel. 'you know the owners. They used to own that delicatessen near your house.' that did it. I temebered the nice couple whohsed to serve Goyer cheese and salami. I also got my favourite polish caramel sweets from there. So i booked and got a lift there within half hour. They were welcoming and as friendly as I remembered them from 1972. Booking in was so good My bags were carried upstairs and i was wished good night. I watched tv for half an hour then settled in the cosy bed with pretty flowered bedding. I slept through till 7. A rarity for me. I felt at home.Breakfast at 8.30 was a wonderful experience in a spacious restaurant. I had a spoonful of each cereal and the milk was brought in a small jug. Personal service making me feel special. Toast was brought in on a plate and tea in a teapot. My breakfast was well cooked and on an oval plate.they asked if everything was ok, did I need anything else. I was even offered another pot of tea in case the other was cold. They took time to have a conversation when I said I used to buy ham salami and cheese from them. I Mentioned my favourite sweets too. I then went back to bed for half an hour. The other staff were as friendly as the owners. They allowed me to watch tv and charge my phone in the lounge though it was past checking out time. Everyone was So calm and relaxed. And someone even send them some flowers. All in all it was a wonderful experience and i can't wait to-do it again.

It's a cheap and cheerful kinda place, that as Alexandra says, is open all hours every hour for those situations when you can't get home yourself, or when a few mates come down to see you, but there's no way you can put them up because there's someone already on the sofa, or you plain don't want them there. Accomodation is priced by room, and at £30 for a couple, it's a bit of a bargain. Even if it is very basic accomodation, it offers some of the mod cons we've come to love, wi-fi, car park, a telly, and NEED when away from home. It's not a grand affair, but it doesn't profess to be. And bonus, if you've been out on the lash, and this is your crash pad for the night...check out isn't until 11.30 am. woop!

It is open 24 hours a day and so even if it is 3am, your car has broken down and you are a while away from Leeds City Centre, you still have a 'sleep in a real bed' option. Hooray! They offer single (£25 per night), double (£30 per night) or family (£40 per night) rooms. The family rooms sleep 4 people. All of which are en-suite and include access to TV, hot drinks, internet, breakfast and a monitored car park to keep your wheels as safe as you. It is extremely basic and nothing special but could be very useful if you're stuck.

The conversation simply flows organically between the bar and the patrons because it is such a homely relaxed environment. Everyone who came in said 'Hello' to the rest of the room, so rare and harking back to a time when people really DID know your name- it reminds me so much of the village pubs I worked in as a teenager, a place where you might go even for just a half pint on the way home...not for the booze but to see a friendly face or two and soak up some much needed human interaction in what is an increasingly insular and lonely world for so many. Tracy was serving and had a very restricted menu due to it being the season and all that, the delivery was due the next day but she managed to rustle us up two roast beef dinners and the richest, most dense and biggest portion of steak and ale pie I have EVER seen. The taste was fabulous. And at £5.95 for the roasts and £6.95 for the pie it was a real treat. We even managed to slug down a pudding, a fruity suet pudding with gravy for Ade and chocolate pud with icecream for me.....again epic portions and perfectly cooked- all for a mere £2.50. It was like going home for Sunday dinner...and Tracy was Mum. Just complete pleasure and contentment from start to finish. I couldn't like this place more. Please, do give it a whirl.....I promise you will fall in love x

Having read the reviews I was brimming over with excitement to visit this little diamond. The food…read moresounded incredible, the building a treasure, and the staff a delight. As is sometimes the case, reading so many high reviews, your expectations can be raised beyond the achievable and so I was hoping for magic. We mightn't have found magic, but what we did find was a truly delightful pub in the midst of Hunslet. Let me start by attempting to paint the picture of just how gorgeous the architecture is. So bizarre is it to see such an amazing building in the midst of some rather droll redbrick housing estate, that it almost beggars belief. I found it fascinating - was Hunslet previously some kind of high end area of Leeds back in its day? How did this gem come about? Fortunately, the pub has kept various historical documents as to its origins, some of which are in a display cabinet detailing the story, a lot of which are used to decorate this fabulous structure. The pub is built in traditional fashion, with a long hallway as the entry, bar and tap room to the left, snugs and little nooks to the right. It reminds me of The Grove, both delightful anachronisms, and worth visiting to gaze upon. It's also now a Grade II* listed building. We were welcomed in, and I keenly asked about the, now Yelp-infamous, lunch. We were given a somewhat cryptic response - it wasn't a no, but it wasn't a yes. It wasn't really even a maybe! Apparently they'd a group booking so might not have been able to accommodate, so we ordered drinks, after hearing that is was possible potentially in an hour or so. Being now a Leeds Brewery owned spot, there's plenty of decent ale to keep you busy, whilst you have a gander and a natter. Another of our group bravely decided to ask about lunch after about half an hour, and the happy news was that they'd discovered some veg from their stores, so we could indeed dine that afternoon! I'm guessing, being so far out, that Sundays aren't always a busy affair - my advice might be to ring ahead and plan the visit, making sure they stock up before! After working out what the vegetarian in the party could eat (all the roast veg, and a veggie lasagne as the main part - random but suitable!) we ordered more drinks whilst we waited. Everyone was delighted that veggie gravy was also available. Soon enough, four stacked plates arrived before our eyes, and we tucked in. It's a proper home cooked vibe, so don't expect the likes of fine dining, but where it lacked in that area it made up for it in spades by being so damned hearty and cheap. I believe it was about six quid for a sizeable plate. The gravy, I thought, was delicious and the Yorkshire pud really tasty. I could have had several more! As much as there were quirks to the afternoon, the staff were all very lovely, and really helpful - especially since we mightn't have been fed at all that afternoon! There's nothing like a decent ale, a post-dinner game of random scrabble, a gorgeous pub, and an afternoon of laughter so for that I'm definitely a fan. I really want to come back and try the food again, especially as others have loved it so, so watch this space for an update. Another interesting thing would be to sink a few on an eve, and check out the vibe on a weekend. We'll see! Give them a visit, it's a beaut.

The inside is just as impressive with a marble entrance, doorman, piano room, champagne bar and luxurious dining room. The hotel has a large spa and gym with a full size swimming pool. Victoria Beckham had her hen night there, Elton John has stayed there, so as you can see it is popular with the posh set. The staff are extremely nice and the rooms are stunning. To the rear there are gardens with a decked seating area, large fountain and you often see partridge and squirrel running amongst the trees. I love it so much I am having my wedding reception and evening entertainments here - and I cannot wait. If you want a touch of true luxury then De Vere Oulton Hall is the only place in Yorkshire (or indeed the North) to go. Don't be put off by the slightly higher price of the drinks (£4 - £5) as in the setting, they are well worth it. Everything is served in fine china, crystal glasses, and with the maximum of fuss (nice fuss). It is truly perfect and I cannot recommend it highly enough. 5 out of 5 for a wonderful 5* establishment.
