Highline was awesome for an elementary school. I went to Highline from Kinndergarten-5th grade, and…read moreit was memorable to say the least. I met a lot of great people that helped me grow as a person, and even through rough times they were there for me. But throughout my time at Highline, I was severely bullied from people who wanted to fill their egos. But overtime, I found some great people to lift me up. The food at Highline was good, but overtime it was ass (like straight bounce that ass). I hope that Highline can improve in the future and fix their lunch options.

have very mixed feelings about Highline Elementary. My daughter's teacher was absolutely amazing,…read moreand honestly she was the reason we stayed positive through our experience there. You could genuinely tell she cared deeply about her students, their education, and their well-being. My daughter loved her, and we were heartbroken to hear she was let go. Unfortunately, the administration was the complete opposite experience for us. My daughter first attended preschool here, and not once did the principal acknowledge us, communicate with us, or make us feel welcomed. We honestly felt invisible. Kindergarten ended up feeling the same way. The principal was even absent at graduation, which was disappointing for such an important moment for the kids and families. The front office staff was also extremely unhelpful, especially Martha. Every interaction felt like an inconvenience, and getting basic help was frustrating. The school has caring teachers, but the leadership and front office experience made the environment feel cold and unwelcoming. I truly wish the teachers had more support, because they deserve better.

I wish I could give zero stars. The bullying problem at ISD is out of control, and the school does…read morenext to nothing to truly address it. Their approach is to "talk" to the kids and have them fill out a "Reflection Form", which clearly accomplishes nothing--because the same kids repeat the same bullying behavior the very next week. To make matters worse, the tuition at ISD is incredibly expensive, and for that price, you'd expect a safe and supportive environment. Instead, the teachers' only response is to send emails to the parents, as if that will solve the issue. It feels like a performative, "Nutella Culture" approach: soft on the surface but lacking any real action or accountability. As a parent, it's heartbreaking to see children being mistreated while the administration turns a blind eye to the root of the problem. More and more families are pulling their kids out of ISD, and I'm beginning to understand why. If you care about your child's well-being and a safe school environment, I would look elsewhere.

My daughter was bullied and nothing was done to correct bad behavior of other students until we made very formal and repetitive complaints. Even then, the response was very weak. The elementary school teachers are good (we had 2 kids enrolled - one in elementary and one in middle school). We had to pull them out of school and changed to a better private school in Denver.

My child has attended 3 Montessori Schools in 2 different states. This was by far the least…read morehospitable and supportive environment of any school she has attended (Upper Elementary). A couple of things that I would call out. 1. The school itself is very cliquish and allows a "Mean Girls" environment to exist. This is very different than the kind and welcoming cultures we have experienced at other Montessori Schools. 2. Specialization between students is treated as a nuisance by the teachers. On multiple occasions we asked for our child to be challenged more academically after coming home every day in tears about being bored. In each instance the teachers made commitments but then failed to follow through. 3. For the last 4 weeks of Spanish class the teacher had them re watch the same Cinco De Mayo celebration again and again. 4. They used our emergency contact information to solicit money from friends and family. 5. Despite the items above and based in large part on assurances from teachers, we committed to another year at the school to avoid another transition for our child. Once we were locked into the pricey financial investment for the following year, the assurances fell through and the school refused to let use out of our contract despite a questionable ability to meet our child's needs. My advice to those who consider MSD would be to not let the tour fool you. If you are looking for education tailored to your child's needs in a warm environment, this is not the school for you. We are currently paying MSD tuition while sending our daughter to a public school. We get a specialized and tailored learning plan, a teacher that follows through on commitments and and a Spanish class that teaches Spanish. It is worth every penny.
