However, beware -- she is not a qualified bookkeeper. She charged us $10,000 upfront plus $3,500 for a corporate tax return, yet after more than a year, neither the bookkeeping nor the tax return was completed. Despite repeated communication and allowing her ample time, she refused to issue a refund. On the morning of our scheduled appointment, she abruptly emailed to cancel and stated she would no longer continue working with us -- this was after I had specifically confirmed whether she was confident in meeting the tax extension deadline. I was made to feel like I was doing things wrong or was a complete bother multiple times. The lack of professionalism was really jarring and made me so uncomfortable, I don't know what flip switched, but I will be taking my business elsewhere. I've always kept an incredibly detailed and organized list of expenses on Google sheets and share it with Sandra, along with necessary paperwork. Time after time, Sandra would compliment me on my organization and would give me small requests to make the documents easier for her. Last year, she told me that, since my PM's (property manager) already shares an expense/income sheet, that I didn't need to "double count it" on my Google sheets form. So, I didn't. Then this year, she texts me the night before my appointment frantic about my paperwork, telling me she has to charge me something like a few hundred an hour to be a bookkeeper, etc. Mind you, all at 9-10pm the night before my appointment, when I had sent out these forms a few days in advance. After going to her for many years, I thought I was doing things "right" as I had the last few, but suddenly nothing was right. I chalked it up to the stresses of her divorce and tax season, so I let the experience be and convinced myself she was having a bad day or something. Then, a few weeks ago, I realized I never got a copy of my completed taxes. So I simply just emailed her and asked, whenever she was free, to send me a copy. She replied she would send them over soon. A few days go by and I follow up with her...and she replies, very unprofessional with "HERE YOU GO" in all caps. Now, mind you, in the past she's also informed me that if I don't ask for an e-copy of my taxes within the same month ish/time frame as doing my taxes, she'll charge me for sending me my paperwork. That's because when I was going through a mortgage process, I reached out to see if she could help send me copies of my old tax forms, and she told me that if I ask outside of the direct tax window filing period that she charges for that request. Charging to get a copy of your own tax paperwork is kinda wild, but whatever, so that's why I've been diligent about getting an e-copy of my taxes from her every year since learning that. Why it's not auto-sent to people to have copies who needs them, IDK, but the constant nickel and dime threats is so exhausting.

I did file late…read more Unfortunately he did not automatically apply for extensions as my previous CPA did resulting in large penalties. He also didn't appeal the penalties. While I had established an s corp to help reduce my taxable income, he didn't achieve that or find any deductions I can see as my previous accountants did. After paying a very large tax bill and then later thousands in penalties the irs wanted to review the entire tax year he prepared, As well as set up a payment plan for still more funds for some unknown reason . Mr Ha refused to do this so I'm spending hours on the phone trying to reach the irs to find out what's gone wrong. I thought tax preparers were required to defend their work because they always have previously I don't think any of this is criminal or reaches the level of malpractice, but it's certainly the worst outcome and service I've encountered from a tax preparer in my life

Once I was married & we had complicated things to add, we made sure to go to Viet. I used to get to make an appointment with him in person & he answered any & all of my questions, before I filed. But sadly COVID hit & things changed to online. My husband & I have changed careers several times since 2022, & we had a baby, so there are several things to add into your taxes. This year, we spent over $15k in medical expenses, had our first child, & hoped we would get some kind of a tax refund. But unfortunately that didn't happen. When I asked about adding money to our IRAs, or why we didn't get to file itemized, or how else we can reduce our tax bracket, we were told it was a "paid question that required a paid appointment". Anyway, I think you can get your own taxes done for free or less than you're charged by this guy. He can't help you with basic questions without requiring money so... stay aware & ask questions!

Por ejemplo, el año pasado María nos dijo que por la forma corta cobraba $75 y la asistente terminó cobrándonos $95. Este año tuvimos que hacer la forma larga y María nos dijo que nos cobraría $150, pero la asistente nos terminó cobrando $175. Eso es lo que yo llamo una pésima práctica. ¿Qué les cuesta poner una lista de precios para que el cliente vea lo que va a pagar y no se lleve sorpresas desagradables como las que me llevo yo cada año? Sean transparentes con sus clientes, así de simple. Otra cosa que también me molesta es que cuando cometen un error, es poco probable que te ayuden a solucionarlo. Hace algunos años hicimos el cambio de número ITIN a Seguro Social en nuestros impuestos y el reembolso calculado por ellos fue mucho menor al que se suponía que debíamos recibir. Nos dimos cuenta porque nuestro reembolso ese año se retrasó. Cuando acudimos a ellos por ayuda, solo nos decían que esperáramos. Afortunadamente no nos quedamos de brazos cruzados y contactamos directamente al IRS. Para nuestra sorpresa, había varios errores en nuestra declaración. Afortunadamente, esa misma persona del IRS los corrigió y pudimos recibir nuestro reembolso. Para terminar esta reseña, solo quiero recalcar la importancia de la transparencia en los precios. No les cuesta nada poner un letrero mostrando cuánto cobran. Sean honestos con sus clientes.
