We moved to Georgia from Kentucky a few years ago and since moving my daughters hadn't been riding. My youngest turned 15 this week so I decided to sign them up for the beach ride. I am not a rider so I stayed behind but they said they had fun. My youngest daughter's horse was hungry on the way back and kept stopping to eat (I thought it was funny, she did not) but it was dinner time. From the time I took my first picture of them riding out u til they came back was only about 45mins so if you are being dropped off or have someone waiting be aware it might not be a whole hour. Everyone was super nice and the horses were so gentle, and relaxed. The girls said it was beautiful out on driftwood beach and I'm glad they got to experience that. read more

I booked this originally for the 4:30 ride on Valentine's weekend but it got rained out so I rescheduled for 3/13/21. We arrived early just to make sure we didn't have to rush and weren't late. The tour was set for sunset but was running late so sunset was basically over by the time we got the the beach and we had to ride back in the dark. We had also signed up for the photo package and when we got back we're told the camera died and no photos were gotten. The ride was beautiful otherwise, but I felt cheated having to ride back in the dark and couldn't see anything. My horse was good too, listened well, kept out of the bushes. Her name was spirit. My husband wrote booker and his horse ran him into every tree and bush it could find. If you do this, book a private ride. It's more expensive, but probably a much better experience. Also, note they don't follow any COVID protocol. No masks, and they cram everyone in the shack to watch the video regardless of how big the group is. read more

This was definitely a memorable experience, but I would never recommend families with children do this tour. Long story short, in case you don't read this whole thing, my husband got kicked and no one cared or showed any sympathy. Here's the run down: I grew up a horseback rider but haven't consistently ridden in nearly a decade. My husband surprised me with this excursion because he knows I love any opportunity to be around horses, and because he saw they allow for people on private tours to trot and canter. That's much more fun than an hour of walking and horses playing follow the leader. On our way to the trailhead, we were running about ten minutes late so I called from the car to let them know. The gentleman on the phone was VERY rude about it. We ended up actually arriving on time (GPS was wrong) after some confusion, and waited nearly 30 minutes for our guide to come back from another tour and get us situated on our horses. It would've been totally fine if we were 10 minutes late. While we were waiting, I noticed there was a lot of frustration and disorganization among the staff. The paddock was lacking hay and everything was sort of chaotic. We finally got on our horses. We walked through the brush toward the beach, mindful of keeping at least one horse's length apart. My horse was ridden in the first morning ride, so she was already hot and sweaty. I thought it was odd that they wouldn't give her a break. When we got to the shoreline, we went ahead and trotted and cantered. We didn't have any issues until catering on the way back. My horse gave a big kick - a huge vice that any horse used on public tours should not have - to my husband's horse, freaking my husband out a bit. The guide immediately switched our order. Then, as we were walking back, her horse also got annoyed with my husband's horse and kicked out. My husband was hit square in the knee. His horse was not up the other's butt at all. My husband tried to play it cool but his knee was killing him. When we got off, he was clearly limping and one of the barn hands basically told him he was being a baby. I said, "You don't understand, he got kicked." And she didn't flinch or apologize or show any concern. I've been on so many trail rides in this type of setting, as well as personally with my friends horses. I've never had to deal with kicking to this extent. It's something that should be trained out of horses (along with rear and buck). Horses that kick like this should be removed from the program for more training if it becomes an issue. I can't imagine what would've happened if this was a child. I'm giving two stars because the trail was fun and beautiful, and because our guide was sweet. read more

We made a reservation for the private Cinderella carriage for my wife's birthday. The money quickly came out of my account and the reservation was confirmed. The day before the scheduled ride. We checked at the booking office by the wharf to confirm they had us down. She confirmed it. We arrived at the appointees time and no one was there 15 minutes late, the carriage showed up. Another couple walked up and informed us they had been told by the owner that they would share a ride with us. They were disappointed because they,too had booked a private ride. We told them to take it and told the driver to refund us. The driver told us that Several drivers had quit suddenly last month and they were having trouble finding anyone to drive. It became obvious that they had booked us knowing that there would be one driver and one carriage, not two. When I had not received my refund within a couple of days, I contacted the company again, and was told, in writing, "you need to tone down your criticism." Well, I figure the best way to "tone it down" is to direct it at any potential customer who thinks they want to book a tour. By my experiences with this company, you have a less than 50% chance of getting your ride, and 100% chance of being told "on the time of COVID, you could show some patience with companies." The management could show some integrity and not double book people who pay for a private tour. read more

Our family was so looking forward to the 60 min. horse ride advertised by Three Oaks Stables, it was the first time ever riding on the beach. We booked the 8:00 am ride, arrived promptly at 7:30am as instructed to find out that our ride was actually at 8:30am. We waited patiently for our tour guide/horses to arrive. Katie arrived by herself with 12 horses to saddle at 8:01am, she claimed that two other ladies which were scheduled to help that morning, both had called out sick. Our scheduled tour of now 8:30 was quickly delayed to 9:32am. Our family specially the kids were super excited, finally they were on their way. As soon as we departed, we were delayed further as one of the younger riders had not been provided with child stirrups and had to wait for a stable worker to run to the trail to help the rider. Three Oaks Stables needs to do a better job with everything, from coordinating enough personnel to accommodate the volume of riders, to the safety of the riders, not to mention to STOP false advertise their beach tours. Our 60 min beach tour was actually 5 min on the beach and 35 minutes through swampy marsh lands as 40 min later we were back at the stables. Did I mention having booked a 60 minute tour? Social distancing is not maintained nor efforts to sanitize, as regardless of how big the group may be, everyone is asked to gather at a 10x6 shack to watch a video. My parents had to reschedule their ride several times due to some personal matters and Amanda in the office has gone above and beyond to work around their schedule. My experience was very different from the other review. I'm not an experience rider, and I had an enjoyable time. Heather was my guide, and she provided a wonderful experience for us. We booked the first ride in the morning and were the only people there, so we paid the public price for a private ride. When we got there, we watched an instructional video on what to do, fairly basic. She asked our levels, and matched us to horses accordingly. I got a horse that kept trying to munch on things, but Heather was really good to help me control her. We rode on the beach and saw a couple of dolphins, and we even stopped to take pictures. It was a lovely way to spend the morning. As far as price goes, it was less expensive than some other rides I've seen. The reviewer didn't realize her card was going to be charged, but we knew ahead of time about the charge. The horses were fairly used to the drill, and if you don't mind horses that are mainly used to all day trail rides, you should be OK! read more

This was our first carriage ride, despite our being in our 60s and Jennifer and Smoky made us wonder why we waited so long! It's our first time visiting Jekyll and we fell in love with this beautiful island as soon as we arrived, so we thought we'd try some new things. Our carriage was waiting for us for our evening ride, and, of course, while I was meeting Jennifer, my wife first introduced herself to Smoky. As we began our journey, it was right at sunset, so in addition to the beauty of the buildings, flora and wonderful scents, we had the sun setting over the ocean and Jennifer's knowledgeable descriptions of what we were seeing to make a most memorable evening. She took time to stop so we could take photos at key places and, once the tour was over, she took some shots of us on the carriage, and, much to my spouse's delight, made sure Smoky was in the shots, too. We showed up 15+ min early to find no one. Previous ride showed up at the time we were supposed to start. We have taken many trail rides in different areas, and I am SERIOUSLY concerned about the welfare of the horses. It was 90+ degrees the day we rode and the horses basically had a 10 minute rest from the previous ride before heading back out. They were very grumpy horses and rightfully so. One of the worst experiences with a company and with "management". My wife and I booked a private 1-hr sunset tour. Everything was fine until we reached the driftwood part of the beach. The tide was coming in heavy, and we were worried, but we trusted our guide. There was definitely a wrong call made because the tide was so high that it spooked my horse and she began running full speed towards a tree, and I was knocked off. At this point, our guide had to get off their horse, and help me up. I had to walk my horse through the tide that was up to my knees, in Sperry's, shaken up and bruised. Our 1hr, private tour, turned in to 15 mins to the beach, almost 20 mins with a freaked out horse walking through the water, and then a quick ride back to the camp. When we got back from our tour, we immediately emailed about it. The next day, we finally got a hold of Sue, the manager, who sounded bothered to help us and informed us the owners were too busy to handle a situation as they were on vacation. She said she would get back to us, but never did, and a week later we finally called her again. She still seemed very bothered to help, and said when she finally heard back about something she would let us know. A second week passed, we called, and she berated us, was very rude over the phone, and told us "according to the camera, you were on the trail for 47 min." She didn't care to take into consideration the situation that occurred, and it seems as if the company cares for nothing but profits and making money. Terrible company, terrible care for horses (they seemed pretty anxious in general), and I would avoid booking with them, especially if anything were to occur that needed insight or help from the company. read more

There was no one there when we arrived. Our ride started over 45 minutes late. The office was a half finished building with a raccoon running up to people. We thought it might be rabid. There were no facilities, in fact the tour guide ended the ride before ours and jumped in her minivan to drive to a bathroom and came back 20 minutes later. When we got onto the beach there was a dead stingray that had been decomposing for at least 3 days. The smell was atrocious and we road right by its carcass. Most importantly they don't rotate or rest their horses. It was over 90 degrees outside. The horses came back from a ride and we were out on them for the horses to go back out. No cool down time, no horse rotation. It is downright abusive. I would never recommend this place. read more

My family and I visited St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island recently and we always try to do something extra fun or adventurous on vacation so clearly horseback riding on the beach was an obvious choice. I found a brochure for Three Oaks horseback riding at the St. Simons welcome center and the prices weren't unreasonable based off of other locations offering horseback riding on the beach so we went with them. Our experience was wonderful!! Heather was our guide and she was very friendly and was a pleasure to talk with as we rode along the beach. Now I am very familiar with riding horses so I was given a sweet mare, named Spirit, to ride and I never had an issue with her. My brother had only ever ridden once and so he was placed with another mare, named Sushi, who is a slower moving horse but that's what's best for any beginner or inexperienced rider. And yes, my brother was placed at the end of the line but that's because Sushi doesn't like other horses behind her so this made perfect sense. Heather was very good about making sure we were both comfortable and everything was going ok for my brother and his horse since he was less experienced. We paid for a 1.5 hour public tour but since it was only us that booked that particular day and time, it basically turned into a private tour with just us and our guide! Heather even stopped the ride at the perfect location on Driftwood Beach so she could take a few pics with my phone for us to remember this great experience!! We really were very pleased with the service and overall experience! Despite what other reviews may say, I would recommend this company again. read more

My daughter and I did the private ride today I do have to say I was very disappointed to say. For spending 300.00 +. Should have gotten a lot more. By the time you get the horses out to the beach, we only spent maybe 25 min on the beach. Only got to trot about 50 - 60 yards and cantor once for about the same. You spend that kind of money for two people to ride you should get a full hour on the beach. Girls were good. No problem there. You have all the potential for good business. but defiantly need to organize better to make sure your customers are happy for what they paid for. If I would have looked at these reviews I probably would have not wasted the money for the private ride. Since we drove 4 hours just to do the ride. read more

We booked a private evening carriage tour with this company for 4 adults. That tour was wonderful. We enjoyed it so much, that we booked another tour for our 4 older daughters the next night. They arrived on time and the tours were already behind. When the carriage arrived, they had to take the people who were booked 45 minutes before them. They told them that another carriage would come to pick them up in 15 minutes. They waited well over an hour from their arrival time and no one picked them up. The 2nd carriage never showed up. While they say they are refunding our money, I am disappointed with the service they received. It's too bad that they did not get to experience the ride in the way we did. read more

I booked a private beach ride for me and my niece while we were staying at the campground. I arrived early and hung around the horses and we watched a video and waited to be put with our horses. Lexi was the one who took our pictures and checked us in and she was awesome! Very friendly and helpful! She said we could choose our horses and we chose the biggest coolest horses Barney and Buster and our guide Katie was THE BEST! She rode Rose a white Percheron who looked like a Pegasus. Any questions I asked were answered and she was very knowledgeable. We got to canter and trot and had a blast! Barney likes to ride the trails wide which meant I was in the trees a couple of times but it was easily fixed by guiding him with the reins. All in all a great experience. I highly recommend Katie as your guide. She is fantastic. The horses are well taken care of and they are all cool in their own ways. The staff knows about all of them and their quirks. If you have any questions or problems just bring them up to your guide and they will fix it. I have read some of the negative reviews and I feel like they could have been fixed if they communicated with the staff better. At least the people I came in contact with today would have fixed them. Give them a chance and go see Lexi and Katie. You will not be disappointed. read more

Where do I start?. To begin with, I've been riding for over 60 years, have a sister who had 2 horses, taken English riding/jumping lessons so plainly, an experienced rider. I reserved a private 1 1/2 hour ride since Nose to butt is boring. Our appt was for 12:30 the next day. That night , I received a call asking to switch to 2:30 since tide would be low. I agreed and called back at 8:34 pm the same night. The next day, we were apx 2 miles away riding bikes and I got a call at 12 noon, saying we need to be there in 30 mins, that our appt was back to 12:30, that they filled our 2:30 spot .. They NEVER called to ASK-They just switched even though they had 15 hours to do so. Not even that morning. We raced back, got there in time-sweaty and tired. We watched the video, signed papers and off we went. I took the spirited horse since my husband has only ridden 10 times. I asked if horses were Barn sour, they said No. We adjusted stirrups and left. Apx 15 mins later I inquired about my horse continuously throwing her head as we walked, that maybe I was holding to tight. She Was RELENTLESS.!! Guide said they were training her for a bit vs hackamore and she didnt like it. REALLY??. And you have her in service???. with strangers who may be lieing about there ability?? So once we hit the beach she took off. I Love racing so i let her go even though she kept throwing her head but then I couldn't stop her. I finally got her to slow down enough to make her do a full circle to get her under control. The guide said-good. Once we turned around to head back, she shot off like a bat outta hell, ears pinned back and determined. My food came out of the stirrup and I was bracing with my other foot. I came down So Hard that I felt my whole lower back shift and immediately felt pain in my back. I again reined her in the whole time she continued tothrew her head. The guide told me to switch horses and she continued throwing with him as well. I expressed my anger they would have her in service knowing she wasnt ready for a bit. Not Once did I get an apology or a question as to if I was ok. I lived on Motrin ,hot n cold packs for the rest of the week. Once back , my primary told be to go to the Trauma ctr because of remaining issues and after a CT, was told I have compression fracture in my spine at T-11. Thankfully it will heal in time but I am SO ANGERED the stable put an animal in service it had No Business doing so. Had I known she was not fully bit trained, I would have insisted on s different horse. Beware!! read more

We had a party of 8, 4 adults & 4 kids (all over the age of 10) Before the ride, you must watch & pay attention to a safety video detailing how to guide your horse properly & ride safely. First., the Guide was AMAZING! Great conversation and very attentive. I gave 1 star because of the price and customer service after. Public Rides are $65 per person and walking in a straight line for an hour where Private rides are $125 per person and supposed to have more freedom to canter and gallop. I chose the private for two of us do to those facts. We walked a straight line the "ENTIRE TIME" and honestly, if I hadn't held the horse back a couple times to do little more than walk, we would have trotted once in a "STRAIGHT LINE" and Galloped "ONCE". $60 more for that huh? I noticed a charge of 287.50 on my card today and when I called to find out what it was and explain we honestly did nor more than what the public rate was for, I was told "In Puerto Rico they are $199 for 40 minutes and I also had a credit card service charge added." Really!?!? First off, Puerto Rico is an Exotic Vacation Spot and Secondly, we were in "A STRAIGHT LINE" the entire time with only maybe 20 minutes on the beach! Honestly, your hour shouldn't include the time getting back and forth from the beach and I should have received the "PUBLIC" rate. Nope, it was thank you , have a nice day. Again, the guide was AMAZING and I completely understand it is not her business. The owners need to reevaluate how they treat people. I won't be back. Maybe I'll take advantage of cheap place tickets right now and fly to Puerto Rico for comparison ;). I will be contact BBB and rating on Facebook and all else as well. read more

An accident waiting to happen. I caution you when booking anything other than a carriage ride with this company. My family went on a beach trail ride, and from the very start, the experience was poorly organized, and potentially dangerous in numerous ways. I love horses and am sorry I have to give one star, but the lack of safety precautions could get someone hurt or killed. We arrived fifteen minutes early as asked, and our trail ride leader was entertaining some poorly behaved children and their un-engaged mothers. The kids kept darting in front of the horses and I kept waiting for someone to get kicked. The leader pointed toward some release forms for us to sign, which we read while she gave pony rides to these kids. (Strange, the mothers hadn't signed off on their kids riding the horses.) We had an attorney in the family, but it was fairly typical equestrian sport release form jargon. We all elected to wear helmets, but again the leader was pre-occupied and didn't check any of us to make sure they were on securely. Thankfully I ride and I knew how to adjust the helmets and ensure that they fit my family safely and securely. On the form there was an area where you indicate your experience level, if you are pregnant, etc. The leader never looked at the forms, she just asked us who had experience, who did not. I want to point out that we were all old enough to drive and had no young children in our group. When I booked the reservation, I was told a credit card would hold the reservation. I was not told this was a pre-pay setup. So imagine my surprise when we were ready to pay before the ride began, and I was told that my card had already been charged. They charged it the day of the ride, hours before the ride began. Not cool. Oh, and disregard their webpage where they claim, "These rides offer the fun experience of riding a horse on the beach without the tourist price!" It IS the tourist price. I get private lessons at home for almost half of what they charge. It's the only stable on the island, but c'est la vie, we were on vacation, and we wanted to ride horses on the beach. The leader took the last kid off the horse as the horse was still walking. Huge no-no. A horse should be completely stopped when riders are mounting and dismounting. After the mothers and kids left, we were quickly assigned horses. We were lined up with the most experienced riders in front, and the least experienced in back. I would think you would want the least experienced rider closest to the instructor. Nope. I was constantly checking on my family members in the back and giving tips and trying to be helpful, since our leader was out of earshot from them. We weren't told if the horses were neck-rein trained or direct-reined; we were just told to keep them from eating the bushes. The leader didn't ensure that everyone's stirrups were at the right length either. Some of our group was barely keeping their feet in the stirrups, and others were uncomfortably high. If I had known before the ride began, I would have adjusted them myself for my family. The instructor couldn't even be bothered to adjust her own stirrups, so she just rode with her feet dangling along the entire way to the beach and back. She told us, "If your saddle starts to slip to one side, just scoot it the other way". This was just ridiculous, to not make sure saddles are secure. This is also a good way to get seriously hurt. The horses were fairly well behaved, except for one of them flattened his ears and started coming at my horse. Luckily, he was being ridden by the attorney, who has taken a few lessons herself. Between she and I, we steered the horses away from each other, but I shudder to imagine if that nonsense had happened with inexperienced riders. Oh, and guess who was riding this aggressive horse earlier? Those little kids whose mothers hadn't signed the release form. The scenery was beautiful and overall we had a good time. I wish I could have given this a higher rating, but when it comes to horses, safety is the TOP priority. I expected that arriving early as we were asked, and paying what we did, that more attention would have gone toward ensuring our safety, instead of hurrying up the dang tourists and throwing caution to the wind. My friend was in town visiting, and we came across the beach horse back riding on yelp. We booked the beach ride which was an hour and a half. We arrived 30 min early as they asked, and they had us sign a waiver, and watch a mini safety video. After that, we were assigned our horses by their names. It is evident that the horses are well groomed and properly taken care of. They are so friendly, and lovable as well. We had Beverly as our instructor and she was really nice. We were given the option to wear a helmet or not (over18), and we opted out. I'm glad we did because it was only a slow walk through the trails and onto the beach. The walk was breathtaking on the beach, and we saw a dolphin! Beverly stopped on the way back to capture some pictures for us! I loved the experience, and will definitely do it again. read more

We took a 5:30 ride on Wednesday night with two other families. After watching a short safety video we were matched up with our steeds. Our two guides were very helpful and friendly and the horses were also well behaved. We thoroughly enjoyed our ride through the marsh out to the beach. read more

The ride along the beach is beautiful and so is the wooded trail to get there. Ours took us along the northern end of the island, toward Driftwood Beach. We had views of the beautiful water, wide beaches and even caught a glimpse of the lighthouse on Cumberland Island. Our guide, however, said little on the ride. She seemed more interested in her cell phone than narrating the tour--or even interacting with the riders. I was a bit concerned about the horses as well. The corral where they stood at the trail entrance was muddy and reeked of feces and urine. A couple of the horses were ankle deep in the muck. I also found of that the horses -- especially in season -- will go on several trail rides in just one day. I can't imagine that is good for the animals during peak season, the hot summer. I did not see any water offered to the animals after our ride, either. Be sure to read the owners' responses to folks who have given this business a negative -- or even average -- review. Very unprofessional and rude. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Paid for a 1.5 hour private sunset ride and got a 1 hour public.we were clearly charged and yet the owner says otherwise and refuses to refund the difference. We were told to be there at 415. We arrived and no one is there. We wait and then finally someone arrives and we leave at 510 keep in mind we were to leave at 445. The owner said that if we booked a longer ride we would have been told to come earlier. Well we clearly told the man on the phone 1.5 private and was charged the same and we were instructed on the time of 445 and arrive 30 min early. So who made the mistake. The employee. The owner stated they they were behind because of other customers showing up late. I get this, however I should still get what I paid for. Who's fault...not mine...the company. We go out for the ride and we are on the beach to trot and canter. I about lost it. My foot was not secure. The stirrups were not adjusted for my height. They were so rushed that some safety issues were overlooked. We had to stop and turn the stirrup sideways. This was very uncomfortable. Again. The employees mistake. Not mine. The owner again is pushing all this on the customer and not holding her employees accountable. Suppose to be private. No, we rode out and shortly after the other group caught up and Then they followed us all the way back. That was half the ride. How is that private. They were right behind us. Again the owner states they are to keep a clear distance but did they no....they were with us the whole way back. Again that was half the ride. Which again was only a hour And should have been a hour and a half as we paid. Then perhaps it would have been private.... I've disputed this whole situation with the owner and not getting anywhere. I only ask that I pay for what I received. I would be very cautious about booking with them. Once they have your money you might not get what you pay for. I didn't. They clearly do not stand by the promises they advertise and will out anything that goes wrong on the customer. Poor business practice. read more

The experience of riding horse back on the beach was amazing! I was the most experience in our group of eight with about six months of riding lessons 25 years ago, needless to say...... we were all a bit nervous and excited! We booked on the same day as our tour so the extra horses caused us to start a bit late, however our tour guide, Todd, was great about getting to know each of us and talking to us about the horses and their personalities! We had to wait a little longer because when we booked the reservations, the experience of riders was not brought up, but our guide Todd made sure that safety came first with our group of four kids and four inexperienced moms! So, he called the office and requested a second guide, which was much needed! The only reason this experience could have been better would be too add better communication between the reservation staff and the guides for planning. The horses were well trained, the guides informative, and the views beautiful! The fear of riding horses for many in our group were overcome today! We were also able to enjoy the serenity of the ocean on horseback! This was definitely an experience of a lifetime! read more

I took a childhood friend to Jekyll for a trail ride this past weekend. We rode with Renee! She was a great trail guide and we had a great ride! I definitely recommend Three Oaks to anyone who loves to ride or would like to ride for the first time. Emily and Annie were our guides for a public beach ride. Our companions for the trip were Bailey and Spirit. Emily was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and even helped by taking pictures for us. The horses were all well kept, have gentle personalities and remained calm even though there were a lot of children and dogs on the ride. I've been on many trail rides before and have had some bad experiences--this was the best ride I've ever had. The scenery was beautiful and the trail was interesting in that it included beaches, marsh/wooded areas (the "Salad Bar") and even going over a small wooden bridge. I would absolutely recommend this experience for anyone! read more

We did a 5:30pm ride for one hour on April 7, 2015. I wished I had read reviews before we jumped into this adventure. Several bad experiences but one was the most terrifying of my life. First of all the video you watch upon check in seemed to be a waste because it sets up certain expectations of the guides that did not happen. My 5 year was put on a very tall horse, 5 back from the guide. The video said if she was unable to control her horse a guide rope would be attached. she didn't know how to ride a horse so we thought great, we're comfortable with that. As we were mounting up the other guide placed us in a specific order. I know now it's because the horses do not get along. After the guide got us all mounted she realized she forgot a rider whose party was at the head of the line but she put her on a horse that had to be positioned between myself and my daughter. We begin the ride and my horse is lagging behind the others a great deal. I can not see my daughter and daddy is in front of her so he can't monitor her either. Our guide did not monitor how she was handling the horse either. Sometime after my horse collapses on the beach and I'm placed on the guide horse from a private group ride, my daughters horse, Booker, begins to move up in the line and starts kicking the 2nd horse in the line. These are full out two hind legs up in the air kicks to a teenage riders horse. Thankfully my terrified daughter is still on Booker and has not fallen off to be stomped on. Our guide was slow in reacting and the other guide was lagging behind with the sick horse. She seemed to be in charge and had more experience. She tried to pull the sick horse up to the Booker to get hold of him. Twice the guides got close enough to grab him and he dodged and bolted with my screaming child on his back. The guides third attempt got him and I reached up for my trembling baby with trembling arms. I hate to think what could of happened. I've made several attempts to contact the owner but my call is transfer to the booking line every time. This is a dangerous unprofessional operation. I do not feel like a child should be placed on these horses which seem to be mistreated and unhappy. Another horse in our party was biting causing the horses to kick him. Our guide commented that he thought Booker was being retired and was surprised he was there. Safty should be the top priority when dealing with such large animals and it didn't seem to be on the guides radar at all. Somebody is going to get seriously hurt if they haven't already. read more

I agree with the lady that just posted. I have been twice and the way the company handles safety measures is amazing. I talked to the lady who booked the ride and she said they have been making a lot of changes here in the past two years. She was very nice and booking was easy. I don't believe the prices were bad either. In my opinion it was very affordable for me and my family. They provide a short video that is about ten minutes long that basically describes how to ride a horse. It was very informational considering I have never rode. The guides paid a lot of attention and were very open to answer any questions me and my family had. They fixed our helmets and stirrups and made sure we were comfortable on our ride. I would definitely recommend this company to everyone that goes to Jekyll looking for something interesting to do. The guide said safety is their number one policy and he did a great job. I definitely think the lady who posted in 2012 should go on another ride and see for herself. They did an amazing job! read more
